RoBarn = Best Couple?

BuddyTv posted a poll for the best TV couple of 2008. The list seems odd to me since a few of the couples aren’t really couples (like Barney and Robin.) I would actually go against my HIMYM devotion and vote for Chuck and Sara since after that holiday episode I really think they’re wonderful.

Who’ll you vote for? It would seem, if the Google image search I ran for an image for this post is to be believed, that many of you out there are big fans of these two.

Goodbye 2008

I hope you all had a lovely holiday. What’d you do? Where’d you spend it and with whom? I want stories! Best gifts, worst gifts, pictures, let me know in the comments.

I came back to my ancestral home in Massachusetts to spend time with family. Since this house apparently gives me narcolepsy I spent a good amount of time sleeping (maybe the Basil Hayden had something to do with that too.)

I re-watched Little Minnesota on the train up here (and finally posted my recap, though I broke format.) That’s all the HIMYM I’ve watched as I’m getting my family caught up on Chuck, a show I’m going to have to write about once I get the other blog launched which will be soon after the new year.

Overall 2008 was a mit of a mixed bag. The site has flourished wonderfully, in fact the presence of HIMYM in my life has been nothing but positive. There’ve been ups and downs though, and I’m hoping 2009 is a little more consistently legendary.

As we head into the new year, what are you guys looking forward to? Any big things on the horizon? New jobs, new homes, new cities? Let me know.

Alas, my loves, I’ve done you wrong

To cast you off so discourteously…

So this week has been crazy. The holidays are upon us and the business that comes with that is apparent. In order for me to take the two weeks off that I requested, I’ve been busting it since Monday. Tonight is my work holiday party (I’m all dressed up) and I learned that living in NYC means everyone you know will be in town for at least a day between now and new years so that onslaught begins tomorrow.

What this all means is that I might not get to this week’s recap till I write next weeks which will be no later than Tuesday. Sorry y’all.

In the mean time, check out the rest of the epic photo recreations with the cast on EW and read about a contestant on TPIR getting the showcase showdown to the exact dollar amount.

Season 4, Episode 11: “Little Minnesota” Discussion

So, still no cable here plus I’ll be spending my Monday night out with some work people while they’re in town so the recap will be delayed yet again. This week will be tricky because Tuesday night I have to make food for my work potluck. I’ll find time to watch the episode and recap though, don’t worry. So, as before, for those of you who watch the episode live, feel free to chat here until I show up. I’ve no idea what the plot of tomorrow’s episode is, not even an outline.

UPDATE: Bah! Blame the holidays but I didn’t get to the recap last night either. Tonight! Sorry guys. Sit tight. I’ve been reading your comments and I think I’m going to end up right about where most of you are.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Here is my recap. In the spirit of the holidays since it’s already incredibly late I’m going to break format and post my “rough” version. These are just my stream-of-conscious notes while watching the episode. I write these each week then usually formulate it into a full-on recap. Sometimes they’ll contradict themselves by the end, there’ll be unfinished tangents, everything a good writer shouldn’t publish. Whatever, you guys are all drunk with turkey and egg nog and football still, you won’t mind, right? Continue reading…

Hold on tight, I’ve got an idea

OK, so I had an idea tonight. We all love HIMYM and have a grand old time discussing it here each week. I know there’s a lot of other stuff out there that I like as well, and I imagine you all do too.

So I was thinking, we have this great group of people that is expressive, and opinionated, and likes to talk, what if I started another blog that covered everything that wasn’t HIMYM?

So here’s how it’d work: I’ll fire up the new blog, and post topics once, twice, maybe three times a week. Then all of you fine people who come here to talk HIMYM can go there and if the current topic interests you, we talk about that there. I think it’s a great idea. What do you guys think?

As far as topics, I’m sure we’d talk about other TV shows but I’d also like to discuss music, movies, books, news, etc. I’m also thinking you guys could suggest topics, if there’s something you’ve been thinking about but I haven’t brought up.

So, thoughts? Leave a comment if you think you’d subscribe to this other blog if it exisited and participate from time to time. And if you wouldn’t, leave a comment and let me know why.

Thanks!

Season 4, Episode 10: “The Fight” Discussion

So, my television situation has recently changed so until I find a way to watch the episodes live when they aire again, I’m going to have to delay my recaps for just a little bit. Sorry guys. I’m sure the episode was legendary. You go ahead and discuss here and I’ll jump in tomorrow once I catch the ep.

And, we’re back. So I just watched, I haven’t read any of your comments yet, so here we go. And just because I feel bad making you guys wait, pictures are back! Continue reading…

The World Outside How I Met Your Mother

So there’s no new episode tonight. I’m not sure what repeat they’re showing because I’ll be busy watching other TV. I thought, therefore, this might be a good time to take a step back from HIMYM and talk abit about what else we love on television. Here, I’ll start. Continue reading…

Let Us Give Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I know I’m personally thankful for all of you who make running this site worth it. I’m also thankful for the discussion, which is above and beyond what I could’ve hoped for when starting Have You Met Ted. We’re about two weeks away from hitting 3,000 comments on the site. That’s insane.

But that’s not all I’m thankful for. And I hope you can all agree with what else I’m celebrating today. Continue reading…
