How I Met Your Mother Season 5 Premiere Date Announced
How’s everyone’s summer going so far? Good I hope.
CBS has confirmed that How I Met Your Mother season 5 will premiere on September 21st at 8pm. (via TVGuide)
In other news, reader Lara-Jane tells me that C4/ e4 in the UK is rumored to be purchasing rights to show the first four seasons of the show. She says:
It’s expected that C4 / e4 might do something of a double with The Big Bang Theory like CBS do as that show has been a success for them. C4 have a great record with US shows (Friends, Fraisier, Will and Grace, My Name is Earl, Big Bang Theory, Scrubs, Sex and the City, Dawson’s Creek, Desperate Housewives, Six Feet Under, The Soprano’s to name just a few!). Hopefully they will start showing it soon as e4’s big homegrown shows (Skins and The Inbetweeners) aren’t back until January at the earliest and Big Bang Theory and a few others just finished their new runs.
This is good news for UK HIMYM fans as there hasn’t been a good way to see the shows before unless you go online.

Reader Joel pointed me to the news that How I Met Your Mother has officially been picked up by CBS for a fifth season. I didn’t think the show was in any jeopardy but it is nice that all that “on the bubble” worry of previous season finales is gone. Congratulations to Bays, Thomas, Fryman, and the entire cast for another year!
It’s also been announced that the show will move to the 8:00pm timeslot. If memory serves, this is where the show began. I don’t particularly think it matters but I just hope there isn’t any pressure from the network to “clean up” some of the racier show elements. So long as it shares an evening bracket with the fratty humor of Two and a Half Men I think it should be OK.

To watch it all you’ll need the DVDs. While not released yet you can preorder a copy at a low price and have it delivered as soon as it’s available. Season 4, Episode 24 Finale: The Leap Discussion

As far as finales go this one was a little light on the revelations. No slow motion kissing while some sweet indie song wells up, no weddings, no break ups, no life threatening accidents (though there was a hospitalization.) That being said, this was an amazing finale. It’s one of my favorites. It was mellow and subtle, but did a great job of wrapping up plot lines from throughout the season. We all got to see Robin and Barney discuss their feelings, and in a way that proved more hilarious than I could’ve expected. It also gave Ted the final push he needed to get toward the mother.
This finale was so good I’m not sure how to really talk about it. This recap won’t do it justice. It was really good. But I’ll try.
