The How I Met Your Mother Blog

As all the ads are showing, Mandy Moore will appear in the season premiere of How I Met Your Mother.

Her character sounds interesting. Show creator Carter Bays described her appearance as:

“Ted is freshly single and on the rebound, and on his first night out, he meets Amy, the ultimate bad decision,” explains Bays. “She’s the tattooed, vodka-swilling trainwreck that Mandy Moore thankfully never turned into. We can’t wait to see what Mandy does with it.”

I have liked Mandy Moore in both her guest appearance on Scrubs and her role on Entourage playing herself in Season 2. I usually get nervous that a guest star will overshadow the normal episode dynamic and the episode will suffer but HIMYM has gotten it right 2/3 of the time I think. Specifically I’m referring to the successful Wayne Brady episode (Single Stamina) and the Jane Seymour appearance in Aldrin Justice. I, personally, felt that Columns was one of the show’s weakest episodes, which had Bryan Cranston as Ted’s boss. This episode spent way too much time on their story and the addition of his new character wasn’t enough to support the plot.

So how will Mandy Moore do?
