A Look at the Rest of Season 3

This Monday’s penultimate season 3 episode, Everything Must Go, will see the return of Britney Spears. Excited? Me neither. It looks good though. I’ve also got some spoilers to share about the finale that will blow your mind hole. Continue reading if you dare!

3.19 – Everything Must Go

I know I already mentioned the basic premise—that Barney and Abby (Spears) flaunt their “close relationship” to try and annoy Ted—but I had to share this picture. It’s too good. The spoilers hint at a vague “question” that Harris pops to Abby. Will this be the “big moment” Bays and Thomas have promised us? I don’t think so, considering what I now know about the finale.

While we’re talking about Neil Patrick Harris, his Joss Whedon web musical may be coming out sooner than expected.

Major spoilers ahead for the finale. I just wanted to warn you again.

3.20 – Miracles

This is what we have to look forward to:

  • We’ll be meeting little Robin when she was 6 years old and her puppy, Lila, suffered complications from a “canine-testudine cerebro-xenograft.”
  • Ted’s cab gets hit by a car and the previous three seasons flash before his eyes. In the hospital room, Marshall tells stories to prove to Robin that miracles exist and she tells them why she doesn’t believe in miracles. Flashbacks include a college-age Marshall going through customs after a trip to Amsterdam and why Marshall did not get his job back at Hewitt as well as 6-year-old Robin and her dog.
  • Sarah Chalke will be back as Stella for the finale.

This sounds awfully final. Maybe the creators did this in case the show wasn’t renewed. Anytime I hear “the previous seasons flash before their eyes” I get worried.

I am excited for the Marshall/Robin storyline. I’ve always loved Marshall’s child-like faith in the supernatural, even more so when it’s a foil for Robin’s extreme pragmatism.

It’ll be good to see Sarah Chalke back too. I really have been liking her even though I know a lot of you don’t.

What do we think?

I’ll think of something good to say as soon as I quit laughing about Barney in that photo. oh my.

    3.20 left hanging

Barney’s also supposed to have some sort of accident when he learns about Ted’s car crash. That’s what I’ve recently read. The finale will indeed have a cliffhanger, but Josh said in an interview that he was 99% sure the show’s gonna be renewed. Otherwise Bays and Thomas wouldn’t leave us in the dark about the mother…

Hope the link works. CBS put up a clip from the episode. Not gonna lie, I kind of chuckled.

I am excited for Britney’s return. It may be stunt casting but I think we should keep two things in mind.

    1. If it takes stunt casting to guarantee good ratings and continued episodes, it is worth it.

    2. Britney was pretty good in her first episode.

Besides that, I just want to say that I hope the finale will be the end of Ted and Stelliot Reed. There has not been enough of a build-up for that relationship to maintain our interest through a long summer lay-off.

Based on the CBS clip, I have to say that I’m excited for Brit’s return. The matching outfits and Barney’s quote “I’m done with the whole being awesome thing” is just well, awesome.

She did a decent enough job on her first time out and of course, it will get more viewers.

I wish we had more episodes of Season 3 but I’m crossing my fingers that HIMYM comes back. And I definitely think it will.

I like Britney in HIMYM, and have no “problem” with it whatsoever.

The upcoming episode has potential to be very funny, and wow…that picture! LOL

The finale might be a big downer, but it wouldn’t be done if they already didn’t know about Season 4.

    @JD – great info as always! =)

also, stella & ted seem perfect for each other (too perfect in fact… they do make u feel nausea, don’t you think?). and if bringing Britney helps the show’s ratings and secure a renewal then so be it…

HIMYM always does the serious poignant stuff well, so I’m sure that Miracles will be touching.

FYI, there are so more promo clips for 3.19 on Kristin’s site on E! Online here.

wow, car accidents are totally un-awesome.

in the words of Marshall, dude, what the hell?

    Oooowwwcchh…

Car accident is not awesome and in recent episodes we have already watched bad things. Barney and Ted thing, his games with Britney and then this accident. I hope it is renewed.

i would post spoilers first, but this topic is already full of spoilers so here goes…

CBS just showed a promo with barney proposing to abby. So it’s confirmation on the big question.

    lame.

anyway, saw Carl in a commercial for something

I think the finale will be good. The three seasons are going flash before his eyes. “Mother” does a great job when they use the flashback element in the story telling. Maybe when it’s doing this, it add some new things we might not have seen. They could even explain the pineapple or Why didnt Victoria call Ted from Germany like she said. I dont know, but HIMYM does good when they do drama.

I think it’s quite pathetic that the show hasn’t been renewed yet and that brings us to this really weird finale that could go either way. If the show had been renewed, as all of us expect, I’m quite sure that the finale would be much different. For me, the plot has gotten too complicated for Carter and Bays to resolve within two episodes. Trying to address all these issues (the Ted-Barney relationship, the mother, etc.) just makes it much more complicated. Hopefully, the show will get renewed asap.
