Everybody’s Preggers
What?!?!?
We learned a little while back that Alyson Hannigan was pregnant. Now we get news that Cobie Smulders is expecting as well and is due sometime in the spring. The father of her baby? It’s Blauman, one of Barney’s douchy co-workers. Steak Sauce! Editor’s note: the character Blauman is douchy, the actor who portrays him is surely a kind, thoughtful young man and will treat Cobie and their child with respect and dignity.
From the picture People magazine used, Cobie is already starting to gain some weight (which isn’t surprising considering how thin she’s been.) What will this mean for the show? Writing in a story about Lily getting pregnant would be easy, if not that popular. But Robin? She’s Baron von Hatesbabies, how on earth are they going to handle this?
Congratulations, though, to Cobie and Taran on the pregnancy!

Holy there-must-be-something-in-the-water, Batman! Wow…I'm not sure how they're gonna play this. They could send Robin off on another foreign correspondent job for a while, and just film her from the waist up. But preggo-Robin would also be an interesting twist. Has any TV show ever had 2 pregnant major characters at the same time?

The last episode in TV was #9 while they have ended filming #12 now. 3 episodes in advance. I wonder if they will shoot ASAP every thing they can, knowing that the show won't be cancelled, in order to end ASAP too, and make the preggers stuff doesn't appear on the show.
Anyone… dream sequence about having babies?

Hey, if Secret Diary of a Call Girl could manage it with Billie Piper (with at least one nude scene per episode) I think HIMYM should be able to manage it, even if it means Robin gets a 4-month assignment overseas so we only see her in video chat.

Eric: I'm pretty sure Billie's nude scenes are sometimes (frequently?) done with a double. If you pay attention to the way the scenes are cut it certainly seems like it. You hardly see both her face and naked bits at the same time.
This is going to be fun to see how they work around it!

That would work for sure. People reported that she is due in the spring, making her between 2 or 3 months pregnant. I'm sure the writers/producers already knew she was pregnant before it was reported. Also last episode Robin had a phone interview for a position. It wouldn't take a lot to cover Cobie's pregnancy since robin would be sitting down reading the news, or sitting at the bar

Yes, sending Robin overseas would be an easy solution. But … wouldn't that affect the goat story? Robin is supposed to be living with Ted on his 31st birthday!

If Barney liked her before, he is REALLY going to like a Pregnant Robin. Remember him during the episode, single stamina, with his brother, he was totally against his marriage, until his brother sayed they were adopting a baby. and then Barney got all choaked up!! And then the flashforward at the end at his brother's wedding, baby in the suit? Yeah, that could be an interesting storyline if Robin get's pregnant.

it would serve Robin right for being such a slut lately but i bet come spring we'll be seeing alot less of the himym girls and alot more of the himym guys so get ready for some awesome bro-ventures while the girls conveniently hang out all day at home drinking wine and watch the view

It's easy to say "have her sit behind a table" or "only show her face" but let's think about who we're dealing with here. Cobie Smulders is stick thin. You don't just get pregnant in your belly. She's going to gain weight everywhere, can that just be ignored?
I'm curious to see what'll happen.

Courtney Cox Arquette was pregnant during the last season of friends. Although they tried to hide it, you could totally tell. But they can manage it!

Actually, if Robin being pregnant gets written into the show, it could be very interesting. It could be a way she and Lily bond through a similar experience and this last episode did establish that Robin's a slut, so her being pregnant isn't too far-fetched, even though she hates babies.

well actually I thought I saw a bump in Robin in Ep 9 when she was wearing a silk(?) dress in the bar. and then I read that Cobie is indeed pregnant…__I would really hate to see this written into the show…. too big a change! hope they can hurry up and finish shooting before the bump is too obvious…
