Has the Mother Been Cast?
via TVGuide and the very legendary and handsome reader Rainier:
Sources are confirming to me exclusively that the lovely and talented Alicia Silverstone has been cast in a multi-episode arc.
Her character, a doctor, will be a love interest for Ted and she’ll be sticking around for several episodes.
Holy crap. This is awesome. First, she’s perfect. A classic actress in need of a great mainstream comeback role ala Danica McKellar. It sounds like Rainier was right to point out the careful wording when, in The Platinum Rule, Ted says “that was the end of Stella, for now”. How did I miss her in my poll way back when? I, like any other male who went through puberty in the 90s, have an undying love for Ms. Silverstone. Let’s take a stroll down memory lane…

Forget about Liv Tyler, these videos were all about Alicia.
I really can’t wait to see her on the show. She’ll be much better than the string of dubious conquests and skanktrons Ted’s been running with this season so far. Is she hotter than Robin? I might be biased but I say yes.
Now only one question remains, and I’ll leave it to you: Will “Stella” be another Victoria, a relationship that we’ll see start and end, or will she end up as the mother? How will it all play out?
Before people start saying “she can’t be the mom, the kid’s would know, he said her name” let me point you to the very HIMYM-esque Definitely Maybe where the main character tells his young daughter the story of how he met her mother. He changed the names and some of the facts in the story to keep her in the dark. I’m sure old-Ted could do something similar.

Ha! I never watched Clueless so my memory of her is untainted and awesome.
I don’t think she’ll ruin the show, like her or not, she’s charming.

Ha! I had the opposite reaction, I immediately thought Clueless *and* awesome. She’s versatile, likable, and judging by her other performances, she’s really appropriate for the tone of the show. Although I’m not placing any bets in the mother pool just yet.

I’ll have to see how she interacts with the rest of the cast and how well that goes before I judge if I like her on HIMYM.
As for being the mother I think that could deal largely in part if CBS renews HIMYM. If so then I see it more like Victoria and getting Ted back on the right track of good people and not dubious conquests. If the show is ending this season then she becomes the mother for a nice clean ending. I will personally keep rooting for the canceled blind date from Milk, and this could turn out to be her. (But technically he already met Stella, so that in a way proves she’s not the mother)

@Ike Yes, we’ll all wait and see. I just have a feeling it’s going to be great. I really hope they make her and Robin get a long too, I’d hate to see Robin hurt or uncomfortable, even if Ted’s girl was great.
Also, I don’t think she’d be the girl from Milk, that girl was a brunette. I’m still of the mind that it was actually Robin in those pictures, just with her face obscured. I think that’d be a funny little trick Bays and Thomas would do.
@MPB Only time will tell and I’m not one to point fingers and label mothers. If it were though, I wouldn’t be upset.

Man i love her from Clueless! I hadn’t realized until now that she was…that girl from Clueless!
daamn Alicia is HOT. If i were Ted, i would marry her right now and give her like a thousands of kids if she wants XD
I’m also looking foward to a Victoria Comeback…come on, her 2 years internship in Germany is over, bring her back for at least 1 episode!
I would love a series finale very exciting, like the last minutes of every season of 24: Ted is like with 4 women and he is all confused and in differents scenes we got Alicia, Victoria, the Slutty Pumpkin, and other gals and after a very stressing moment they show us who is the mother.
It’ll be funny too, that when OldTed is telling…’and there she was…your mother’ and the camera is just going to show us the mother…and OldTed get a heartattack and we never know the end XD

I’m torn.. I feel like Alica would make an awesome mother.. but I’m not ready to find out yet! In my mind, the meeting of the mother is the last season. I hope Ted does date her for a while rather than jumping from girl to girl like he has lately but I kind of hope she goes the way of Victoria.
Unless of course CBS loses their freaking mind and doesn’t renew the show.. then I’m all for it

Yeah I know JD and that’s why since I’m rooting for the blind date, Alicia cannot be the mother (at least wothout a dye job).
Just as Jess just said I’m not ready for the mother because I don’t know how long the show could continue. Sure if the kids were more into the story from the start once Ted meets the mother they’d push for more details. And Ted could do that anyways and that may make sense.

Ewwwww. I had not heard this. Well, she won’t be the mother, it says her appearance “will not be a long-term or continuous role”.
