How I Met Your Mother News Roundup
By JD

Note: This might be my favorite HIMYM picture to use in posts. I don’t know why, but it might have something to do with that awesome bikini shirt.
With no new episode this week there doesn’t have to be silence on the HIMYM topic. Here’s a bunch of news items and thoughts about the show I’ve been ruminating but haven’t had the chance to post. Please do weigh in with your thoughts in the comments (like I even have to say that anymore!)
Casting News
Last year Season 3 was the Year of the Gueststar for How I Met Your Mother. We saw:
Enrique Iglesias, Mandy Moore, Busy Philipps, Danica McKellar, John Cho, Lindsay Price, Heidi Klum, Alessandra Ambrosio, Selita Ebanks, Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima, Marissa Miller, Kristen Schaal, Vanessa Minnillo, Sarah Chalke, Britney Spears, Bob Odenkirk, James Van Der Beek, Alan Thicke, and Tiffany. In that order.

That’s a lot of celebs. This year we haven’t seen that many guest stars. Sure Sarah Chalke is still there, but other than Regis Philbin the marquee is much shorter. The rest of the season has a few guest stars that we know about already but there is another that you might have heard about but I haven’t mentioned here. Jamie-Lynn Sigler, better known as Meadow Soprano, will pop up for at least one episode sometime this season. The obvious question is “will she be the mother?” My vote is no. She’s only confirmed for one episode and I don’t really see her in the role.

Plus, they have yet to hire Emmanuelle Chirqui who I’ve decided is the only maternal contender that’s left on this green earth. Bonus points if you can name three things you’ve seen her in without checking IMDB. Email me the answers.
Barney’s Equation

I wish I’d found this last week. Someone who has more free time than I broke out all the images from Barney’s “A Beautiful Mind” portion of Shelter Island and analyzed each visual. Check out the whole list, it’s really worth it. My favorites are:
- The return of the Hot/Crazy scale
- Desperation minus judgement = success
- Obviously the 83%
Major Plotlines for the rest of the season.
I haven’t done a poll here in awhile so I thought I’d bust one out. If you’re new, check out some of the most successful polls we’ve had here already at HYMT.
So here it is.

Emanuelle Chirqui -
the oc
the girl next door
hinder music video
JD | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 12:46 am GMT -4
@Amy – you only get one point for The OC. She wasn’t in The Girl Next Door and the Hinder music video doesn’t count since they suck and it’s not fair that a shitty rock band gets to make out with her on a beach when an awesome blogger like me doesn’t have a chance.

Whatever Ted does from now on that is typical Ted shall now be known as “Mosbying.” Pronounce it however you like!
He really Mosbied up that wedding.
Steve | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 02:49 am GMT -4
Oh and “http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2789724/”
ceez | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 02:59 am GMT -4
The only show that she was on that matters is ENTOURAGE..and if you watched her on the show, you know exactly why I said that.
John | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 03:08 am GMT -4
I voted for Ted getting back with Robin but I also wanna see a renewed focus on LAME. It’d also be cool if Ted and Robin got back together to see Barney’s reaction as he’d have to try and bury his feelings for the time being, at least.
Calin | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 05:41 am GMT -4
more barney and robin, lily and marshall… ted can go sulk in one corner for a moment. hahahhahaa

One of the jokes in the blackboard was:
It could mean
CH3-CH2-OH = OHOHOH
..really funny!
Alcohol = Sex

I want a focus on LAME, Barney trying to get Robin, a lot of great Mosbying around, and Ted finding a serious girl near the end of the season (I think it should and will take time to get back on the horse after all that went on last week). Or in otherwords I want it all but Ted and Robin getting back together. I think they are wonderful together, but would like to just move forward.
OpenCasketForTheLadies | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 10:03 am GMT -4
I think Jason Segel is an absolutely unreal actor and I’s like to see him get some more time focused on him and Lily. I was thinking after Ted told Robin in season 1 that he was single and then Victoria called; Robin still went back to Ted. Similar situation with Robin finding Barney with the girl from the front desk during shelter island, so I could see that Robin and Barney get together this season, as it may be part of Robin’s character to go back to people who may have hurt her, to whatever extent.

Emanuelle Chriqui
Entourage of course.
A great movie called…On the Line(with the current Dancing with the stars NSync guy..hahahaha)
and
Waiting(Lesbian bartender I can not remember her name..haha)
Danielle | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 10:05 am GMT -4
Oh I forgot to say in my other post. I thought we were not getting anymore major plotlines after the first 6. That is would be more stand alone episodes.
I like major plotlines better but whatever I guess.
JD | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 11:45 am GMT -4
@Danielle I don’t think the plotlines will be as major as they have been, but I think there’ll still be some overarching story, even for the one-off episodes.
Brandon | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 11:49 am GMT -4
Emmanuelle Chirqui would be LEGENDARY!
100 Girls
Entourage
That movie with Usher whose title I can’t remember
Whacko | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 11:49 am GMT -4
I definately want to see more legendary Barney actions
like the one where he is all like: “Are you okay? OMG quick call an ambulance You’re OK? thank god cos you just fell out of heaven”. And the 80year old Back To The Future bit. and The Price is Right stuff. and the driving lessons with ted. and the marathon… and… and…. AAHW Barney is just too awesome. They should make a show entirely about him
jen | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 12:40 pm GMT -4
She was also in that Zohan movie (the Palestinian to Sandler’s Jew). I’m actually ashamed to know that….
Lynn | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 01:17 pm GMT -4
I first saw Emanuelle Chirqui in Snow Day, then Entourage, and saw her again in Don’t Mess with the Zohan.
hope those count for some points! lol
Danielle | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 01:28 pm GMT -4
JD..that is great to know.I really hope so.
Nick | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 03:43 pm GMT -4
The future Mrs. Theodore Evelyn Mosby:
You Don’t Mess with the Zohan…
Entourage…
The O.C….
Katie | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 03:52 pm GMT -4
i think that a ted and robin reunion will occur (even though i don’t like them together) and how barney is going to deal with it.
Nick | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 04:26 pm GMT -4
I am not a big fan of the Ted and Robin getting back together scenario. It just wouldn’t fit with the ultimate plot line of “how I met your mother.” Seeing a Barney chasing Robin or a return of Victoria may work. But ultimately I would like to see Ted go back to his good old Ted self and then at the end of the season meet a new someone and leave us hanging for season 5…
Marcy | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 04:39 pm GMT -4
I totally agree with Ike: I want all of the things mentioned in the poll except for Ted and Robin getting back together. I mean come on, they had their chance and they decided that they are not meant to be. Period. I know that there are many people out there who want them back together, but personally, I simply think it would completely destroy the show´s integrity. Especially since I think that Robin´s speech last episode was more of a “my life is a total mess right now and I have to get some of the disappointment out of my system” -speech…
Anyhow, I want to finally see LAME´s appartement , Barney pursuing Robin (but in a subtle way! Anything else would be unrealistic), Ted getting all post- breakup´y and eventually finding a new girlfriend after some episodes of dating.
Blogette | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 06:28 pm GMT -4
As I sit here at my computer, watching HIMYM Season 1, I must say the return of Victoria would be super.
Emmanuelle Chirqui – Entourage, On the Line, and SNOW DAY!
J | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 07:44 pm GMT -4
i voted for ted and robin, not that i think it would last or that robin is the mother, but it would throw a kink in Barney’s plans. I would also love a return of victoria, if only for an episode. One of those, show how ted has changed over the last 2 years episodes.
the dude | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 07:54 pm GMT -4
I’m all for Victoria returning.
Geri | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 08:58 pm GMT -4
Since we got a repeat of Sandcastles in the Sand here this week (don’t know if it was the same repeated episode everywhere), it was nice to re-visit the beginnings of Robarn.
I still voted for the return of Victoria though.
Oh and JD, could you possibly have found a more naked photo of Emmanuelle to use? lol!
Kevin | Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 11:25 pm GMT -4
Ted getting back with Robin would be a waste of time since we know that she isn’t the mother, and besides, it would ruin the Robarn storyline.
I’m thinking Ted going back to search for true love. This could result in him meeting several women, and, if they did not release information on how many episodes to guest stars were doing, there would be the added suspense of how each new encounter could possibly be the mother.
john darc | Wednesday, October 29th, 2008 12:05 am GMT -4
I can name three things Emmanuelle Chriqui was in, but not necessarily three things I saw.
I saw 100 Girls, Waiting, and an episode or two of Entourage. She’s done tonnes of other stuff like Zohan.
Manya | Wednesday, October 29th, 2008 03:50 am GMT -4
I feel like I’m in the minority, but I don’t wanna see Robin and Ted back together, I want them to stay dead. I don’t want the show to become a Ross/Rachel dynamic. (Will they get together? Oh they belong together, why don’t they see that? for ten seasons)
I think the show was very real with it’s representation of the Robin and Ted breakup. With the awkward thanksgiving episode, and how they broke up just because they knew it wouldn’t work, not some big drama thing.
Robin’s confession to Ted in the last episode is really her confession of moving towards wanting to settle down with someone, and gradually I think Robarn will blossom. Fans are trying to rush it, but it will come, probably near the end of the season, just you watch.
aaron | Wednesday, October 29th, 2008 10:05 pm GMT -4
Manya…I agree…leave the Robin and Ted thing alone… They were good together and had a good run but it’s over…in the past… Ted and Robin understand this…they have moved past it..now it is time for everyone else to do the same…
plush selfishly, I’m a Robarn fan as well.
Sheesh, it’s like I’m playing cards with my brother’s kids..
blarg | Thursday, October 30th, 2008 06:28 pm GMT -4
oh wow, i’d love for emmanuelle chriqui to be the mother. she is so gorgeous.
most of the things i’ve seen her in have been mentioned: entourage, dont mess with the zohan and in the mix where usher is her bodyguard.
i cant wait to see where the season goes.
and since i havent seen the gif around yet, i thought i’d make one up for robin. this is classic robin written all over it

Knowing Robin isn't the mother sucks. It is almost bad enough to make me stop watching this show. If I was Ted, she would be the mother.
zack | Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 02:16 am GMT -4
this is what should happen. a combination of two of the plot lines… for example, bring back victoria just when things between robin and ted start rekindling. thats the way to go, it could provide lots of drama and jokes for the characters
Luke | Thursday, February 19th, 2009 05:24 pm GMT -4
Ted and Robin aren't going to happen! They told us in the first episode that it wasn't her. Also, go back and watch the commentary on the DVD's… their whole relationship was supposed to be a testiment as to how wrong they are for eachother. Also, I think we're a a while off from meeting the mother. Future Ted is in 2030… meaning his kids aren't set to be born for another 4 or 5 years. They have tons of time to play around with, and I think they'll stretch it out.

Alessandra Ambrosio is so a nice looking. What do you think about she?
