Official: “How I Met Your Mother” Back in Production, 8 More Episodes for Season 3

The Washington Post has the “yes”, “no”, and “maybe” list of shows which will have more episodes this season. What’s on that list? How I Met Your Mother. That’s right, it’s coming back. While I’d love a full season, I’ll take an extra eight. That will make a 19 episode season. Hopefully the strike will help the show get picked up again next year, as I bet the “we didn’t have a chance to finish a whole season” argument will secure us a season four.

Since I have to assume you all watch more than just HIMYM, here is the rest of that list from the Washington Post:

Yes

ABC: Brothers & Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, Samantha Who?, Ugly Betty, Women’s Murder Club
CBS: Big Bang Theory, Cold Case, Criminal Minds, CSI, Ghost Whisperer, How I Met Your Mother, Moonlight, NCIS, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Numb3rs, Rules of Engagement
Fox: American Dad, Back to You, Bones, Family Guy, House, King of the Hill, The Simpsons, ‘Til Death.
NBC: Law & Order, Lipstick Jungle, Medium, My Name Is Earl, The Office, Scrubs, 30 Rock

No

ABC: Big Shots, Carpoolers, Cavemen, Dirty Sexy Money, Notes From the Underbelly, Private Practice, Pushing Daisies
CBS: Cane*, Viva Laughlin.
Fox: K-ville, Prison Break, 24

NBC: Bionic Woman, Chuck, Friday Night Lights, Heroes, Journeyman, Las Vegas, Life

Maybe

ABC: According to Jim, Boston Legal, Cashmere Mafia, October Road
CBS: Shark, The Unit
Fox: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
NBC: ER

Shows in bold are the ones I’m excited to see returning (or sad to see leaving), in case anyone cares. In the comments, don’t just talk HIMYM, all shows are fair game. What are you guys excited to see come back?

*Personally, I’m actually glad to see Cane canceled since that means that Nestor Carbonell can come back to Lost. Also, It’ll be nice for Scrub’s final season to play out as close as possible to the plan.

    Thanks for the update JD.
btw, ‘Monday sitcoms HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men are each returning with nine new eppys on MARCH 17. (Rules of Engagement doesn’t return until April 14, with a half-dozen.)’

I watch a LOT of shows that you listed above. It’s sad that Chuck doesn’t come back for now :(
And i hope ER gets new episodes, at least a short 13ep season 15, and that’s it.

Yay! HIMYM will be back! I´m soooo happy about these news! It´s just wonderfull!

I´m also very happy that Scrubs will get an (hopefully decent) ending. I always loved the show and was very sad to see it canceled in Germany some time ago. Luckily Polish Comedy Central is showing “reruns” right now (btw. the episodes shown in the evening are followed by an episode of HIMYM :)). As for the other shows, it´s nice to see so many shows got a yes. TV is going to be back ^^

Yay!!! I’m excited about more Lost, House, and CSI. Sad that there’s no new Chuck until fall (pretty good show, but I have to watch it online bc HIMYM comes first). Really don’t feel strongly about anything else.

Variety.com says nine episodes which is even more exciting

The ones that excite me are Mother, 30 Rock, The Office (that’s the one with Ted and Robin, right), Scrubs, and Rules of Engagement.

The worst one to hear by far is Chuck, which is a great show, but the Unit rules as well, 24 not having a season at all is weak, Big Shots, Dirty Sexy Money as well as Journeyman.

Am I the only one who thought According to Jim was only in syndication?

“Am I the only one who thought According to Jim was only in syndication?”

Well Kress, you might be thinking that because last season, ABC cancelled According To Jim due the low ratings. But after a few motnhs they realized that the ratings weren’t that bad, so they UN-cancelled the show.

Now it’s doing 6million when it’s not against American Idol, when that happens, only get 4million viewers. So it’s probably it’s last season.

    a quick update.
ER returns with nwe episodes on April 10.
And it’s official that Chuck, Heroes and Life are coming back next season. But it’s still a waste of quality! 13 episodes of Chuck is nothing! I wanted all 22 eps.

Agreed Chuck should have an actual season, oh well

I am glad to hear that The Office, Scrubs, 30 Rock, and obviously HIMYM are coming back.

I am upset to hear that House IS coming back (sorry JD, my odium of that show knows no bounds), and am displeased to find out that Dirty, Sexy, Money isn’t coming back…that show, along with Boston Legal, is sort of my guilty pleasure on TV.

for clarification the shows are not coming back for the rest of the spring season according to everything I have read…

Here’s hoping Dirty Sexy Money, Chuck, and Big Shots come out swinging.

And I have also never understood the House fascination

Im really sad about Pushing Daisies though!
