Rewatch How I Met Your Mother Season 1 in Syndication on Lifetime this January

I got an email today that surprised me. It announced that Season 1 of How I Met Your Mother will start showing on Lifetime on January 5th, 2009 at 7pm. That’s a lot earlier than I expected.

It’ll be good to see season one again. It’s so rough around the edges and is a great example of the show finding its way.

So, will you guys watch?

PS. Yes, the title of this post is a total SEO play.

PPS. The type treatment on all the Lifetime promotional materials for the show makes me sad. Why won’t they just bring back the damn Century? Look at the logo for this site, that’s money in the bank baby.

There is no new episode this week guys? I don´t live in the US, and i can´t see the show from Tv…
Someone knows if there any new episode after Little Minnesota?

I´ve just dowloaded season 01! I love the episode Game Night… With the hippie Barney! :P
But, why are they re-airing those episodes anyway

  3.  KJO | December 23, 2008 @ 4:00 am

I have all three seasons on DVD and every episode from this season saved in my TiVo, so there's no need to watch reruns.

I don't know about the rest of the country, but here in Chicago they aired "Slapsgiving." I believe that next week is a rerun as well. The next episode "Benefits" airs Monday January 5th at 8:30/7:30c.

Don't forget HIMYM had the Cheers theme too- Swarley!

  6.  DaveR | December 23, 2008 @ 6:03 am

Two reasons why I won't watch. #1 – I have the DVDs. Can get my HIMYM fix anytime I want! #2 – I don't think I can get the Lifetime Network in Canada.

I have it on Dvd, so I won't watch it.

  8.  JustinDickinson | December 23, 2008 @ 6:29 am

That's actually an interesting point. I wonder if the original music will be in the re-aired episodes or if it'll be the DVD tracks. We'll have to wait and see.

    Yeah……the video says full hour…..?

  10.  Serenichi | December 23, 2008 @ 6:50 am

Man I agree about the type. The type for lifetime is a straight up mess!

  11.  John Darc | December 23, 2008 @ 7:07 am

On the DVD that's the same, but I think it's because the joke was so deep, they had to pay for licensing.

  12.  LynnLegendary | December 23, 2008 @ 7:56 am

It's going to be weird seeing it on Lifetime…but how can I resist? If it's on tv I'll be watching! lol
I also have all the seasons on dvd, and they are constantly in my dvd player, but I'll still be watching haha.
can't you tell how much I love this show? :)

  13.  JackAtak08 | December 23, 2008 @ 11:01 am

I guarantee you it will be songs from the tv airing, not the DVD. Thats the way it works with syndication- case and point, Dawson's Creek.

And duh, I will watch HIMYM. It sucks its on lifetime though. I wish it was C.Central, or even Fox Family…err. ABC Family.

And that doesn't even look like Lilly in that graphic

I don't live in the US, but here in Australia HIMYM is rerunning every night at 7 (we're still midway through S1) over the summer, and I don't bother watching it. I've seen it on DVD a couple of times, and when you're not drunk (or at least tipsy) a lot of season 1 is just….well, not "bad" per se, but like JD said, "rough around the edges". It gets much better towards the end, of course, and I might make more of an effort to watch reruns once they start on seasons 2 and 3, which are way better.

  15.  John Darc | December 23, 2008 @ 11:54 am

Not always. Scrubs has an example of this. They got a version of the Cheers theme to be played once. The original airing and that is it.

  16.  John Darc | December 23, 2008 @ 11:56 am

I love Season 1, so I don't see a problem with it. I do like how Lifetime needs to reassure us that the show is premiering on Lifetime and not some other channel.

edit: Oh god, the syndication cuts! What will they excise for more ad time, or are these episodes short enough now for standard syndication purposes? IIRC, Season 1 eps were allowed to run to about 22 minutes, which is a lot of time nowadays.

  17.  Gravity | December 24, 2008 @ 6:48 am

More agreeing, it's arguably the only show I somehow never manage to be burned out on. I'll be watching.

  18.  Ragy | December 24, 2008 @ 9:17 am

Oh I have all the dvds and I have every episode (including this season) downloaded so I can watch on my laptop/360 and will still be watching it if I catch it on tv…..even if it is on Lifetime. There is no such thing as too much HIMYM

  19.  LynnLegendary | December 25, 2008 @ 6:49 am

yes yes I agree. It keeps me sane and happy :)

  20.  SSJ | December 27, 2008 @ 4:44 am

Sorry for off-topic, but when we can expect your recap for 4×11?

  21.  JustinDickinson | December 27, 2008 @ 5:23 am

I just did! It's not the usual format, but my thoughts on Little Minnesota are up over here: http://have-you-met-ted.com/2008/season-4-episode...

  22.  SSJ | December 27, 2008 @ 10:51 am

Sorry, I didn't notice that :D . Finally, I've been waiting for a long time! I like the old format better but according to polish proverb "lepszy rydz ni? nic" (this can be translated as "better something than nothing"), thank you for all your work on this blog!

  23.  TheMix | December 27, 2008 @ 12:00 pm

    Lifetime?!

Don't get me wrong, that's great and all. I won't be watching, seeing as I don't have cable…..

But Lifetime? Barney's like the most misogynistic character on TV!!

  24.  Ike | December 27, 2008 @ 12:21 pm

I'll watch just to get my fix, and prepare for that nights ep. I think it's funny at the end of the ad the guy goes, "Lifetime, yes Lifetime!" because they know people don't put funny and lifetime together.

  25.  JustinDickinson | December 28, 2008 @ 2:04 am

Don't worry, the old format isn't going anywhere, this was just because of the time crunch.

  26.  John Darc | January 8, 2009 @ 6:26 am

so, is it ONLY on mondays? cause it seems to be only on once a week. next week is "Taste of Liberty" and "Return of the Shirt"
