What to Expect from Season 4, Preview of Season 7, and the Bro Code

Some more information has surfaced concerning the beginning of season 4. Bays and Thomas have said that the season will open with an arc concerning Stella (played by Sarah Chalke) that they really think the fans will like. But don’t expect that to be the last we see of the good doctor—they also said that the arc would end with the definite possibility that we might see Stella again. Whether or not she is the mother, the creators said they “haven’t ruled it out”.

The first episode will also deal with Barney’s realization from the season 3 finale that he might have feelings for Robin. What that means, I can’t be sure. Will he act on them? Will he try to stifle his emotions? I’m really excited to see what they do with that situation as it has “legendary” written all over it.

With the wild success of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog we’ve been hearing a lot about Neil Patrick Harris lately. He’s currently shilling Old Spice and even showed up on Sesame Street as a shoe fairy:

I love this video. I’m not a huge fan of musicals but NPH really has a gift for them. Thanks to reader Chrissy who sent me that.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: YouTube clips are great but I want something from Neil Patrick Harris that I can spend money on this holiday season. Well look no further. Bays and Thomas announced that they’re turning “The Bro Code” into a real book that you can purchase later this year. It will be written by Bays and Thomas as well as the writer on the show who pen’s Barney’s blog each week for CBS.com.

Did you forget I promised a preview of Season 7? I didn’t. Bays and Thomas, in answer to a question about meeting the mother, reported the same info they revealed at the press screening—that footage has already been shot with the future Mosby kids—but also that they’d like to draw out meeting the mother until the series finale in 2012, which by my count would be season 7. I guess that solves any speculation we’d meet the mother before the series was done. Actually, it doesn’t. We could meet her (maybe we already have) and she might only be revealed as the mother in the finale. I can wait. Especially if it means three more seasons. Can you?

Bro Code books sounds interesting. Here’s hoping season 4 is better than 3 which I found to be a big let down. And their recent comment about the show becoming less serialized better turn out to be false because that would really ruin the show in my opinion.

    You’re welcome, JD ; )

I don’t care if they ever told us how the mother was as long as there’s many great seasons. The Stella/Ted spoiler doesn’t please me at all. I have read some more detailed spoiler… I’m more interested in the whole “Barney is in love”-story. This is huge, though we’ve all expected it before we could even know there’s a fourth season.

Uh, I’m looking forward to the Bro Code book as well. …whereas I hope not it will be consisting of over 1000 pages as shown on the official HIMYM website ; D

    Hey JD,

I’m a huge fan of Robin Sparkles personally, and I decided to try and do a bit of research by asking someone from Billboard how much each of the songs have sold online. The results can be found here:

    Hope you enjoy!

As much as I’m all for the Bro Code, which Jefferson and Washington were too busy to write themselves (They were at Me, D.C.), do we really need people out there trying to be Barney? Like, real life Barney Stinsons?

I can see it now as a plot to an episode. Barney releases the book to the public, and suddenly, suited gin-and-tonic swilling lotharios are all over NYC. Barney then needs to get out of the game (go for Robin) or change his style.

    2008/09=season 4
    2009/10=season 5
    2010/11=season 6
    2011/12=season 7
    2012/13=season 8
In theory it could be 8seasons?

@John I think the future you’re predicting may be a reality. Those guys are already invading NYC.

@Chris I did the math that way at first too but they specifically said “series finale” which leads me to believe it’s season 7.

i don’t want to know who the mother is. ever. i really mean that. i love watching the shows over and over and over again and the great part is i always get to speculate about who the mother is.

knowing the ending of a film or tv show, kind of ruins the program for me. knowing that i don’t know the ending is the best part of any viewing experience because i can examine and speculate endlessly.

    that’s just me.

what is the deal with all the “NO”s in season three. the characters are saying no like they are getting paid by the NO. i think you can probably estimate some insider fact/info/something based upon the number of “NO”s

no no. no no no no no. no no no no no no no. watch season 3 again and look for the no’s.

  14.  JD | August 27, 2008 @ 9:21 am

@LB I did notice repeating “no no no” more than one normally does was a motif this past season. I think it’s just the writers having fun. In fact, one of the things I like about the writing is that the characters seem to have their own little in-jokes and catch phrases that they recognize, which makes them more real. Specifically I’m thinking of when Barney pointed out that they’d officially retired “bra” as slang in the group.
