I ended up really liking Victoria, even though at first I didn't care for her. I'm a late arrival to HIMYM and so my wife and I have been catching up on the old seasons while watching the new episodes (makes for some bizarre timeline issues!)

I was very much rooting for a Robin and Ted getting together for Season 1 so at the end of the wedding episode in Season 1, when they focus in on her, I went "That's who Ted is getting together with?"

However, by the time she left for Germany, I was totally hooked on Victoria. She was so sweet and seemed to fit together tremendously with Ted. There was definite chemistry there.

It's all about that song playing when Ted and Victoria look into each other eyes for the first time. That moment is pure magic.

She is also the girlfriends that didn't get a send off after she left. There was no, "Victoria and I met years later and I realized that it was for the best, she is happy now married with three kids." I am convinced that she is "Your Mother"

Craig-

As I said in my previous comment (#44)....I think the reason Victoria wasn't right for Ted is that she didn't challenge him. I suppose one could look at the whole "one night, then never speak to each other again" as a challenge in the regular sense, but it doesn't actually challenge Ted's personality....his actual self. Ted's normally impetuous and outgoing. That's the reason he went along with her wedding challenge in the first place.

I think what some people don't realize is how much guys want a strong willed woman. This may be getting a bit too psychological for everyone, but it's true. Guys, specifically intellectual guys, and guys with strong, outgoing, personalities....they tend to like the same in the women they date. That, is not Victoria, it's Robin, or some other girl we haven't seen yet.

There's a very great difference between a wonderful girl, and the RIGHT girl. I'm sure we've all dealt with women/men that we were very attracted to, and liked a great deal, but just didn't end up with. Victoria was cool, great, sweet, and beautiful, but she wasn't even remotely close to what Ted should/will end up with. That's why Ted went to Robin. And that's the reason that he didn't go for Stella either. He would've gone so far as marrying her, but it wouldn't have worked out, because that's not the girl that Ted's should/going to end up with.

Victoria was a great match for Ted. They seemed to click very well, but she had the German thing come up, which shows that long distance relationships are very hard, if not impossible to keep up with. Both sides struggled with the long distance.

I think the reason why Victoria seems to be a lasting though to HIMYM is Ashley Williams. She is a very attractive in a non-hollywood type of way. She seems to be a girl one would find in middle america (like Ohio). Victoria was a good match for Ted.

I think that when Ted introduces the "mother," all of Ted's previous girlfriends/experiences will build into Ted finding the "one." I wish it would be Victoria, but most likely, that is a long shot.

Can you name one bad thing about Victoria? She was perfect for Ted, but Ted's feelings toward Robin got into the way. As with everything you do in life, you learn from prior mistakes and move forward, just as Ted has (especially with Stella and Robin).

Looking forward to the rest of the season and hopefully several more.

I think the reason I like Victoria so much, is that I like season 1 Ted. The Ted who was really romantic and looking for his love, yet he wasn't as desperate as he was with Stella.

Plus...how do I explain this to you? Last night, I ate the best cake of my life. Do you think I'm gonna let that cake out of my life? Hell, no. I'm gonna find out what bakery made that cake and I'm gonna get some more cake.

I don't care much for Victoria either way (I don't love romantic Ted and Season 1 is my least favorite season). I wouldn't complain, however, if Victoria came back or if she was the mother. As others have said she is the only one other than Stella with whom the audience has had a chance to get to know and bond with. Also, she and Ted actually had some chemistry, which is why if she turned out to be the mother I'd be happy for Ted.

"but when she was on the show it really just made me like Robin more"

I thought, in terms of comic relief, the Victoria era was good for Robin. But she was also kind of a b-word during the time too. I watched the first season with my mom last year (she wanted to catch up with the series) and she just thought Robin was awful, not understanding how I could actually like the character.

I'm surprised they didn't show Slutty Pumpkin this year. They should do it every year.

Also, what if the mother was every girl Ted ever missed out on? Slutty Pumpkin, Love Solutions girl, etc.

As I've said before, i love victoria.

i actually hated her when season one first aired just because i wanted ted and robin to get together so badly, but after re watching season one a floppity-gillion:) times, i have realized how much i like her. Like Christine said, she got long with everyone. She also had great chemistry with everyone, and her and ted were so good together.

i know it seems like it might be awkward for victoria because ted almost cheated on her with one of his best friends, but i still think it would be awesome if she came back and saw ted. She would make a great mother because she was so compatible with ted.

yeah, she was kinda lame in zip zip zip, but so was ted. She also, like many other people have said before, proved that a sixth person could work in the group if they get along with everyone and have good chemistry, both of which she had!

I'm still hopeful that she's the mother.

Also, on a totally unrelated note, did anyone see the top 50 funniest tv shows of all time? i know that himym would have been at least on there if there were more viewers! It's the funniest tv show.

The idea that there was no concrete ending to Ted and Victoria's relationship is ludicrous. She called Ted and Robin picked up the phone, leading to a messy argument and break-up. Why would she ever want to get back together with him after that? I liked Victoria too, and Drumroll, Please is one of my favorite episodes, but hoping for her and Ted to get back together is living in a fantasy world.

On a side note, I would say that Robin is hotter than Victoria. Clearly many of the Victoria lovers would disagree, and I would be interested in poll results on the subject. I would assume most people would agree with me, am I wrong?

I love Victoria. I don't want her to be the mother, and would understand if she never came back on the show, but it would be nice to see her again (see scenario below). I feel in love with her the moment the showed her at the wedding, the cut, the music, and the way she looked just made me feel connected, similar to when Ted first saw Robin, but 100 times better for me. Drumroll Please is one of the greatest mos romantic episodes in the series and I love romantic Ted. And as others have said her relationship led to Robin realizing what was really there, which was essential. If Victoria did come back, I hope she is engaged and there is no relapse. Ted may need to believe in love again after Stella, and what better way then Victoria coming back and telling how the break up with Ted actually led her to meeting her soulmate.

In the end I would rather she stay away then come back and it not be well put together (a la Abby).

I wanna see victoria again.
I don't care even if its for one episode.
I remember at the end of the cupcake episode when the said to each other
"lets meet up, even if we aren't single."

The episode could be just like the return of the shirt
where instead of natalie knocking ted out with her krav maga skills, Victoria can knock him out with her new and awsome cupcakes and smash his face with a creamy pie.

that would be awesome.

I thought Victoria was corny as hell, but then again so is Ted. The deterioration of their relationship was just so sad, like when Ted and Robin broke up. Ted and Robin were good together, but they just weren't compatible. It wasn't anybody's fault, but it couldn't be helped. I'd've been unhappy with either of them if they had changed who they are for the sake of the other.

Now while Ted almost sorta cheating on Victoria was a pretty awful thing to do, their relationship really ended when they left. Maybe I've just seen this same sort of forced decision happen to a lot of people, but their ending is very sad and unfortunate. There was no reason they couldn't have continued to be happy if Victoria had never been offered that fellowship. But it would have been foolish for her to pass up on it for Ted and ridiculous of Ted to go with her. They just hadn't been together long enough to have to make that sort of decision.

I don't know if Victoria is ever going to appear on the show again, or if she'd forgive Ted for what he did, but if that fellowship thing had never happened, they would potentially still be together. So it would be interesting to revisit that.

Anyone just watching and loving the show for its humour ?
It seems that everyone is just passionate with the "dramatic" part of it ...
Weird !

Victoria is what we would call a munter in the UK. Robin is cooler, funnier and doesn't keep banging on about how to make the perfect cupcake. I know it's supposed to be symbolic blah blah, but Robin is the pick of the pair.

I'm with you Justin, I never really got into Victoria. I suppose I don't have any general dislike for her per say, but she just didn't and still doesn't seemm right for Ted, despite the events that unfolded over the past couple seasons that may have changed him.

She was somewhat of a cog in the system in my view. Merely a way of bringing Robin to Ted.

There are some who view Robin as the more immature person, and some the opposite. I don't think either is really the case. Robin shows a certain sense of immaturity in limited situations, and it's always a good kind of immaturity. It's a sort of playfulness that I try to find as well whenever possible and appropriate. Or she displayed an immaturity "the grinch-factor" that was the cause of losing Ted. Losing someone you may be in love with would cause anyone to get a little irritable. However, she also displays not only extreme maturity and psychological strength, as well as a unique insight into Ted's actions and thoughts that Victoria never seemed to grasp (save a basic level like in their first encounter). Robin's view of Ted is what has kept him...well, him. Nothing Good Happens After 2am, Slapsgiving, Shelter Island....they're all bastions of greatness in nearly everyone's eyes for a reason. And that reason is simply because Robin knows Ted better than anyone....despite the fact that she has known him for less time than anyone else on the show.

As for Victoria coming back.....or for anyone other than Robin being the mother for that matter....think about how difficult it would be for her to know Ted better than Robin. It was hard enough back in the first season, but now it would be nearly impossible. It's incredibly difficult to break-through a relationship like the one Ted and Robin have (regardless of whether or not they're "together").

Victoria was a hip, hip lady, but in my mind, there was no way for her to ever get past Robin in Ted's mind. She did have a playful immaturity, just as Robin, but it wasn't the same. I don't get the sense she really "changed" Ted necessarily....but as I've previously stated, I like it when Ted is challenged in a relationship, and she wasn't really doing that at all...except when she made the decision to move, which Ted couldn't do anything about. It was, in essence, an un-winnable challenge. Their relationship was very sweet, but didn't help Ted grow in any way, and in fact ended up hurting his growth when he went over to Robin's.

@Dan, that episode made me like Robin more. Victoria seemed so immature and Robin is sarcastic and hilarious. Different strokes I suppose.

There's Betty and Veronica stereotypes, are there now Robin and Victoria? We should start using the reference in day to day life.
