The How I Met Your Mother Blog

Ever since the news was broken that Alyson Hannigan was pregnant there’s been speculation on how that will manifest on the show. Will Marshall and Lily be having a baby? Will it be ignored? Will we only see Lily from the shoulders up?

In classic HIMYM style, the writers have thrown a curve ball. The pregnancy will be written into the show, just not in the way you might expect. Less babies, more ballparks.

TV Addict has the news that Lily’s larger belly size will be explained as the result of a hot dog eating contest at MacLaren’s. Unconventional? You betcha, but this is the same show that brought up licking the liberty bell and making it rain.

Look for the hot dog gorging during the episode on February 9th.

I think it’s safe to say that we all love Wendy the Waitress. What you may not know is that behind the apron Charlene Amoia is quite prolific in her appearances across TV and commercials. A peak at her videos on YouTube show how often she pops up. I bet you’ve seen her in something else, even if you didn’t realize it.

Her appearances are not always easy to spot. Take, for instance, an upcoming role on Criminal Minds. For an episode airing in the near future Charlene doned makeup to resemble a burn victim. She was then nice enough to share an account of the experience and photos from the time she spent in the make up chair with all of us.

Oh wow, I’m so excited about this. In the upcoming episode “The Stinson’s” Barney’s mom will come to town to visit her son. Seen only from the shoulders down in Barney flashbacks, this will be the first appearance of Mrs. Stinson on the show. In a stroke of what might be the most legendary casting ever Barney’s mom will be played by Frances Conroy.

OK, so I tweaked a couple more things.

First, I know a lot of you are ad haters. If you want to support the blog but ads aren’t your thing, I added a “donate” button in the middle column. If you want to throw me a dollar or two or twenty, it’d go to the good cause of paying for hosting, etc. And I’d really appreciate it.

Second, YouTube just started offering a sponsored video unit for blogs. I’ve added one below the first post on the main page and linked it up with Lifetime and TV Guide. I’ve got it playing as I write this and have to say it’s pretty cool. It’s like Entertainment Tonight but only about the stuff we like. It’s got interviews with the cast, behind the scenes info, and other cool content. Definitely check it out.

That’s all for now. I’m sure I’ll keep tweaking the design over the next little while since I’ll get new ideas.

No new episode this Monday. We’ll get a new one on Feb 2nd. I don’t normally post previews but I’d like to get the house-cleaning posts off the main page and, come on, that’s an awesome name for an episode.
