Casting News: Rachel Bilson to Join How I Met Your Mother

rachel_bilson

I’m too busy to go into how awesome this is or how excited I am but wanted to share the news that Rachel Bilson has been cast for the infamous 100th episode of How I Met Your Mother. Rumors are already flying that she’s the mother (I don’t think so) as well as rumors that the episode will be a musical (I’ll also believe that when I see it). Bilson’s people say her role won’t be reoccurring, but I don’t believe that either. I’m full of skepticism today! And excitement: I love Bilson and she was at the top of the poll conducted on this very site as to who the mother should be.

What do you guys think? About Bilson, about the 100th episode, about musicals, about anything.

I’ll probably come back later and post more effusive love for Bilson.

yeah, i head this news too, i HIGHLY doubt she will be the mother, but she's totally amazing from back i the OC days!

i really hope that a musical happens though, cuz both marshall AND barney are very musically talented…

OMG. YES ! I love her. But she probably isn't the mother

Love her! Hope she's the mother but I doubt it.

Maybe she's a friend of the mother?

not the mom. how lame would it be if he actually met her this season? still think he should meet her in the very last ep. only way his storytelling makes sense (plus, i highly doubt the kids would keep listening after he's already met her, since they've been pissed at him for telling suuuuch a long stor since, like, season 2 :P )

i don't really like bilson, to me she'll always be that ditzy OC-summer girl. don't know if she can pull off anything other than that but i'm more than willing to be proven wrong.

the musical isn't a rumor, Thomas confirmed it to entertainment weekly: "the milestone episode will climax with what Thomas calls a “big-ass musical” number headlined by the show’s resident song-and-dance man, Neil Patrick Harris. “There will be a huge Barney story culminating in an enormous musical number that we’re going to spend way too much of Twentieth Television’s money on,” Thomas says with a laugh. “Fans of Neil’s performance at the Emmys will enjoy the ending of the episode. It’s not a musical episode, but all of a sudden it becomes one. It’ll probably be one of the craziest things we’ve ever done on the show.”"

i'm all for the musical part and also hope marshall's also gonna be singing. i think we can pretty much count on alison NOT singing, cause i kind of remember her stating she hated singing and her voice while doing the buffy musical.

how do you imagine will they integrate that musical thing? i'd just LOVE a sequel to barney's infamous "moist"-play :D

I have faith that they have something planned out. And I don't envy their task. They are going to have to get this JUST right. We are going to have to feel as good as winning the Super Bowl, and having Trudy and her frenemy home waiting for us.

I'm a HUGE Bilson fan dating back to The O.C. so this news is amazing. I am so stoked for this episode.

God! Why do they have to keep casting gorgeous brunettes for this show? It's cruel, but I love it.

And definitely not the mother. Introducing her on the 100th episode is too simple.

Dang it! I'm not a fan of Bilson at all…but who knows, maybe she'll surprise me

I don't usually like Bilson but I did like her in Chuck. So I'll get on board. I hope she isn't the mother, though.

    Victoria is the Mom. :)

The musical business as I've heard it via online rags is that the ending of the episode will be be a musical number with NPH, not the entire show.

Doubtful that she's the mother obviously…..

I like her too, but I'd like to see a better actress as the mother.

but then again, the 2 creators said that the 100th episode contains mother-heavy action. COULD SHE BE??? I sure hope so! :)

Rachel Bilson was awesome on OC and Chuck and is really sexy but the height discrepancy between her and Josh Radnor (that was also an issue with her and Chuck) is really wierd. I don’t think there are many LAME-like hieght differences out there in the real world. Do u agree?

I am so excited that Rachel Bilson will be on HIMYM! Anybody who posted on here and said they don’t like her has obviously never watched enough of the OC to realize that Bilson is funny and a great actress. I really doubt that she is the mother though which is sad but I really hope that her role is recurring. I also have the hugest girl crush on her. I’m almost as excited about this as most guys. lol
