Finale Season: What are You Watching?

My post about Scrubs got me wondering, what other shows excite you guys? It’s finale time, and I’m wondering what final episodes you’ll be watching. TV.com has a great poll on the exact same topic. So go over there (be sure to vote for HIMYM) and vote for your faves. Then come back here and talk about the shows you’re excited about in the comments.
I’ll go first.
New Shows
There were a couple new shows this year that really hooked me. I’ve already mentioned Party Down, which is only getting better with each episode. I also find myself looking forward to new episodes of Castle more than almost anything else on TV. I love Nathan Fillion but it’s Stana Katic who really makes the show for me. She’s just delightful. Strong, funny, interesting female lead who is sexy, but has a depth that makes that attraction something more than objectification. The other new show I love is Better Off Ted. I didn’t like it at first but ever since the Racial Sensitivity episode I’ve been hooked. Love it. The last new show I watch is Dollhouse which I don’t really know if I like or not. I enjoy watching it, but it’s not what I’d call a good show. I guess any Joss Whedon is better than none.
There are also some shows that aren’t doing it for me. First is Kings which I really wanted to like because I LOVE Ian McShane (from the Deadwood days.) The show is just too serious, too heavy, and thinks it’s too clever. It’s going for high drama but with such an alternate reality it’s hard for any of the weight to be felt without a level of humanization that just isn’t there. Then there’s Parks and Recreation which I keep hearing from everyone is awesome but despite a cast I like I’ve yet to laugh at an episode. I’ll keep trying though as it does have promise. It seems like an Office ripoff and a poor one at that—awkward awareness of the handheld camera does not a good show make.
Old Shows
- I was sad to see Scrubs go.
- I’ve gone on record here before as being a HUGE Lost fan and am looking forward to the end of this penultimate season that hasn’t disappointed yet.
- 30 Rock is a no brainer. Love it. Though I don’t feel the dedication to that show that I feel for others such as HIMYM or Scrubs.
- Chuck ended well, though quite finally. I’ll be watching for a renewal but honestly if it doesn’t get picked back up I’d be OK. It ended with a bang, better that than watch a series whimper along.
- Alternatively, I’m very much looking forward to season two of True Blood and the return of Psych (which is the only other show I’d consider writing a dedicated blog about.)
Now it’s your turn. What new shows do you love/hate? What old shows are still doing it for you and which have lost your interest?

Chuck was amazing. If they don't pick it up they're idiots.
I'm also looking forward to the Lost finale. I lost interest in S2 but got back in s4 and I'm glad I did.
I'm looking forward to House's finale and love that.
Another JJ Abrams show Fringe has hooked me and the finale looks amazing (Leonard Nimoy)
I also love Psych and Burn Notice and love having something to keep me entertained over the summer.

The only two shows that I'm emotionally invested in enough to consistently watch new episodes are HIMYM and The Office – two of my all time favourite shows. So I'll definitely be watching those finales. The rest of my favourite shows have all stopped running. Oh, I also LOVE Dr. Who, but unfortunately there are only four episodes this year.
CourtneyE | May 8, 2009 @ 7:46 pm
I left Doctor Who out just because it's an abridged season.
Plus I'll just miss DT so much that I didn't even want to speak of it until it's time. *sigh* I'm sure Matt Smith will be awesome and all, I'm just such a Tennant girl.

It sucks that I do not have as much time as I would to watch every series I'm curious about. At the time, I only watch Prison Break (just because it's near the end), Harper's Island (I like it a lot), Big Bang Theory and Himym.
Have no time for other series right now
Well, maybe ocasionally one or two episodes of seinfeld…

How I Met Your Mother – This is the only show I watch every week and on a consistent basis.
I use the internet as a means to watch the following shows when I am bored or have some excess time to kill:
Castle (Nathan Fillion is freaking hilarious, Dr. Horrible is the greatest thing ever to hit the internet)
Cupid
Fringe
Bones
Criminal Minds
The Amazing Race
CSI – Original and New York
Apparently I enjoy shows where they analyze crime……

The Chuck finale was outstanding. Dollhouse has actually gotten really good the past couple weeks, which makes sense when you consider the fact that Angel took a full season to get really good. Last week's was particularly awesome. House, The Office and 30 Rock are really the only other finales I look forward to. I spend so much emotional energy on HIMYM and Chuck, I have so little left to give other programs.

Scrubs, of course. The Office competes with HIMYM for me affection. The Big Bang Theory is super funny, though I'm not emotionally invested in it. I love watching new episodes of House, but I almost never rewatch them.
Like you, I'm really enjoying Castle, even more than I thought when it started.
Dollhouse hasn't been a slam-dunk every episode, but some episodes have been so genius that I'm totally hooked (no that there was ever a chance I wouldn't watch every episode of a Joss Whedon show).
I've been watching Party Down via Netflix on my TiVo. It's fun, but I can't say I'm in love with it. Gave up on Parks and Recreation after the first episode; never got into 30 Rock or Chuck.
I'm looking forward to the second season of Leverage starting up this summer.

What is Leverage?

There is only one show which I like better than HIMYM and its finale will be next Thursday at 9 on CW. Do you know what is it? No? It's Supernatural!!! The greatest show in history of TV (behind FRIENDS of course
)!
High Hoper | May 9, 2009 @ 12:01 pm
Oh God, I forgot to say House MD.
Amanda | May 9, 2009 @ 4:38 pm
Yes, I love Supernatural too! And Desperate Housewives. But most of all, HIMYM:)
Super Mario | May 9, 2009 @ 6:53 pm
YES!!!
I cant wait for the finale of Desperate Housewives!!!
i also love Better Off Ted and Castle (I think someone mentioned it) and scrubs office and 30 rock!!
i also love watching Ugly Betty Dancing With the Stars (Melissa Ryroft is Gorgeous) and American Idol

Yeah, David Tennant did the show for me. Christopher Ekkleston (not sure i'm writing this right) was a great Doctor but Tennant is just magnificient. Using a sentence used by Tennant himself… He is my Doctor. I'll be sorry to see him go. Matt Smith looks the part but… well, we'll have to wait and see. Hope Captain Jack and Torchwood come back. I'm missing these two shows and the mini series format isn't enough. I need my fix, BBC.

Dr. Horrible RULZ (the world)

Leverage was a 13 episode series about an ex insurance agent wich, along with a group consisting of a con-artist, a thiefs, an hacker and a "retrieval expert" form an "agency" to help common people that have been wronged in some way by big corporations and the sorts, get some payback. It star Timothy Hutton and was produced by Dean Devlin. A 2nd season is in the works. Though my sumary might make it look lame, it isn't . I loved this series. Awesome characters and some nice scripts. See it and judge for youself, J.D.

Another series i enjoyed this year, though the season finale was a while ago was Leverage with Timothy Hutton.
Trying to catch up on Terminator-TSCC, Criminal Minds and Supernatural.
Yohanan23 | May 9, 2009 @ 11:06 pm
what about Heroes??!
SSJ | May 10, 2009 @ 1:20 pm
I've never like that show, but I've been watching it with my friends… I stopped watching in the finale of Volume 3. I don't what happened with this series, but it has became totally unwatchable… I'd rather watch new episodes of Prison Break, than Heroes…

I can't stand dramas, and only tolerate crime dramas because my girlfriend loves them. However we do watch Big Bang and HIMYM regularly – but nothing else. I was a broadcasting major and it's kind of a miracle that I ever got into HIMYM in the first place (we didn't have a great TV department, and I was a sports-focused student anyways).
I don't like shows that are really any more serial than HIMYM – maybe it's because the only ones like that (Heroes, Lost, Terminator, 24) are action/drama and I like comedies pretty exclusively.

I loved it in season 1. Since then it's gotten worse every episode. They recycle too many ideas for me. I did hear about the 'big' plot twist and that sealed the deal for me.

Scrubs ended perfectly and i hope they leave it to that.
The Big Bang Theory keeps getting better. after 2 seasons Sheldon has started to annoy me, but in this season i really fell in love with Penny. the season finale wasn't great, but good enough. i hope finally Penny and Leonard will get together in season 3.
Obviously i can't wait HIMYM season finale. tho it scares me, not because i'd think it wouldn't be good, cause i know it will be great! but what the heck am i gonna do the whole summer without it. maybe a HIMYM marathon whit all my HIMYM friends.
Gossip Girl is my guiltypleasure. it's kind of lame but still so fun to watch. i wanna see what happens to Lily and Rufus cause Rufus is my favorite character (maybe i'm too old for the teenage drama). but really, chuck and blair need to solve out their probalems and really get togehter. tho i think that will be more likely next seasons issue.
Criminal Minds is my favorite show after HIMYM. last seasons finale was horrible, and i bet they're gonna end this season too into a huge cliffhanger. which is a bad thing, but also a good thing, cause it makes me wait the next season even more.
Also i wanna know who's gonna be the America's Next Top Model.
