Guest Star News: How I Met Your Mother Knows When To Hold ‘Em

The reports have started for the gueststars set to appear in season 5. The show has become almost meta with its casting, and the newest guest star won’t disappoint. TV Guide reports Kenny Rogers will join the cast for the October 19th episode:
in which [Rogers] will perform a “Marley & Me-type” song, entitled “Goodbye, Sparky.” The Oct. 19th episode, “Dual Citizenship,” sees Ted and Marshall hit the road for Chicago to try and recreate a special college memory. Lily tags along at the last minute and the trio’s journey leads to Rogers’ performance
It is unsure if Rogers will play himself.
TV Guide also reveals that the 100th episode will feature not only Rachel Bilson but Tim Gunn will make an appearance as Barney’s tailor. How perfect is that?
Editor’s note: sure we already knew about Bilson but wouldn’t you rather look at her than either of these dudes?

Thanks for the update!
So awesome I love Tim Gunn! Suit up & make it work!
Except the britney fiasco, the show deals pretty well with guest stars, so all of this looks great!

I must be the only one on here who didn’t know who Tim Gunn was (had to look him up – thanks IMDb!). That’s what happens when one doesn’t have cable and/or doesn’t pay attention to the fashion business.
Kenny Rogers, finally a guest worth mentioning! Sorry, but I could care less about Rachel Bilson. But Kenny’s the sh*t!

“sure we already knew about Bilson but wouldn’t you rather look at her than either of these dudes?”
Agreed lol

haha- I love it! I’m a girl and I’d rather see Bilson than the others…. not for the reason you’re thinking, but seriously, Tim, go outside sometimes. The sun is nice.
I love Tim Gunn and I’m THRILLED he’ll be playing Barney’s tailor- that is hilarious! What I would give to hear him say “Suit Up!”

After reading about Chris Elliot, I realized… I don’t think we’ve really seen many flashbacks of Lily’s childhood. Have we? I can think of Robin with Sir Scratchawan (so funny), Marshall as a teenager with his brothers (getting all that coffee and also fighting), Barney throwing the ball at his dad on tv (love it), but I can’t think of any with Lily or Ted as kids. That will be fun!

I guess we did see Lily in High School with Scooter. But still, her childhood will be fun.

Bilson? Hooray! She did a good job on Chuck and The Last Kiss (with Zach Braff). Not so much in Jumper though. And of course, she’s famous for the OC. I think she will fit right in.

So, has anyone considered the idea when Ted refers to Robin as “aunt Robin”, it could be as an actual aunt, in that he marries Robin’s sister. Rachel Bilson does look a lot like Lucy Hale, who played Robin’s youngest sister, and it was never mentioned if she had any other siblings. Take a Look:

Tonights episdose WAS the best so far (in season 5)
and i loved the ending!
Leigh | October 12, 2009 @ 9:47 pm
I’m about 99.9% sure that Ted won’t marry Robin’s sister….she was 15 in ‘First Time in New York’, and that was 3 seasons ago…making her only just 18 now to Ted’s 31. Unless she wanted to get married ASAP (again, highly doubt that), then Ted wouldn’t be married for a long time.

P.S. JD, why did you take down IntenseDebate? It’s weird not being able to leave a reply to a specific comment!
2k08 | October 12, 2009 @ 10:00 pm
And Im sure Robin would mention if her sister went to Columbia when Ted started teaching there..
Anyways, tonight’s episode was incredibly hilarious. Great to see them making use of Segel’s musical talent.

Had to take down IntenseDebate because it was losing comments left and right. Wordpress has built in reply-to-comments now, I just have to figure out how to make them work!
CourtneyE | October 12, 2009 @ 10:29 pm
Seconded on bringing back Intense Debate, because my comments never stick when I’m not signed in. In fact this one probably won’t stick either. If it does, then ya know nevermind.
CourtneyE | October 12, 2009 @ 11:32 pm
Annnnd it’s still there. Don’t I feel sheepish. Apparently the comments just didn’t like my link in my name.

I am so excited about Rachel Bilson being on the show. She was so great on the OC and she is very funny and loveable. This is also the first I’ve heard of Tim Gunn being on the show and I am sooo excited about this. Tim as Barney’s tailor should be unbelievably perfect and AWESOME.
