For awhile,I thought i was worried Star Trek was a dying franchise. Then JJ Abrams came along. Good touch. The scene with kid Kirk was too quirky in the film, though it was popular in the trailer. Star Trek XI breathed new life into this precious Roddenberry world. I’d like to see all of this Enterprise cast returning for additional outings. I spent my youth with the first series. Heck, my pops got us a color Television just so we could see Star Trek every single Friday afternoon. Right now, I’m stuck on these new actors. In MHO, they’ve breathed life to their characters and made them their own. I, personally, am longing for more.

Entourage I used to like (and I still love Piven), but it's a parody of itself now. I've seen at least 3 skits involving Entourage in the last month or two, and I was laughing, until I realized the skits could actually be episodes.

The Office – you're right, past it's prime, not as good as HIMYM

30 Rock – Love Baldwin….always hilarious, but doesn't have the same kind of plot development

Weeds – It's good, but it's not amazing.

Flight of the Conchords – never really got into it.

Family Guy – Also has become somewhat of a parody of itself….though the Star Trek episode was f'in hilarious…and once again, no plot development.

HIMYM deserves it.

HIMYM FTW!

yeah, it will be a big surprise if HIMYM wins, since it's the underdog in the category. but i'm still rooting for it.

However, NPH needs to win, he deserves to win.

BTW, there were other categories that HIMYM should have gotten a nom for (assuming they applied for them, such as Outstanding Casting, Directing, and Writing.

the on ly show from these i watch besides HIMYM is The Office and yeah, last season was kind of bad. i think HIMYM is seriously best comedy show, ever. i'm a hardcore Friends fan, and i can say, that it's better than Friends!

I like HIMYM very much but Family Guy has a way bigger chance to win this award cuz that serie is only about comedy.HIMYM is a bit romantic,a bit a family serie, I thiink this is why it has lesser chance,same thing with Weeds…

I love both HIMYM and 30 Rock! But I will take offense on the comment that an average person is an idiot and only likes 'mindless comedy'. First, people watch comedy shows for the entertainment value, for laughs. All these defined/preferred wittiness or whatever definition to elevate ones self from the masses are added bonus.

All I can say is, I'm super stoked for the best comedy nod, and even more stoked for Piven being outed in the Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy category. JMO, but Jeremy Piven isn't even close to being in the same league as NPH. With hosting duties to bolster it, I say NPH finally gets what he deserves this year, an Emmy victory. As for HIMYM, I'd love to see it win, but my money is on 30 Rock. I personally don't care for the show, but the academy seems to be in love with it.

I think it's fantastic that HIMYM finally got the recognition it deserves and was nominated for "Best Comedy Series". It's about time! I have a feeling it won't win because "30 Rock" always gets all the love, but I'm still happy it was nominated.

NPH hopefully will win for "Best Supporting Actor in a comedy series" this year because Jeremy Piven isn't in there this time. He really deserves to win this time around for his wonderful portrayal of Barney being so conflicted and in love (while still bringing the funny time and time again) this season.

And I, for one, am watching the Emmys live (which I've really never watched before because, as you say, awards shows can be long and boring) for two reasons:

1) NPH is the host and I just love him and want to give the show ratings so the network knows that he brings the ratings just like he did for the Tonys – plus I just want to see how he does and I doubt all his bits will make it to Youtube
2) If HIMYM or NPH wins in their category, I want to see it live so I can jump up and down right then and there

how i met your mother is by far my favourite tv show ever made.

The show should win due the deep talent of the cast and the incredible writing and production week in and week out. HIMYM is a very witty show, but unfortunately the average person is an idiot, who only appreciates mindless "comedy", a la 30 rock.

NPH should win hands down. He is a terrific actor who should receive some recognition

funfact – tv.com had a running poll up till yesteday regarding which show should win best comedy, and it seems the people are in our favor! the last time I checked before they changed the poll to a new one, out of approximately 7000 votes, 2300+ went to HIMYM which was 34%, knocking all other shows down completely, and I have the screenshot to prove it. give the people what they want!

Also what's with 30 rock getting 3 outstanding directing nominations and HIMYM being snubbed again? Pam Fryman is a hugely important part of the show! She has directed almost every episode.

Neil needs to get it. Hopefully the show will. Also the editor should win. And don't forget it's 4 nomination for production design. It would be an awesome kick off to the season if it won all 4 the night before its premier.

Yeah i think the biggest contender for HIMYM would be 30 Rock, and it gets a lot of love these days, from me too, but i really don't like it as much as HIMYM.

Also, Flight Of The Conchords is a very beautiful, funny and simply hilariously awesome comedy series, but works in such a whole different way than most of these US-series, that i'm surprised that they even get recognised by the emmys. (this is about the emmys, innit?)

Very awesome for HIMYM to finally get recognized. That said, the academy LOVES 30 Rock big time. There's literally no chance for anyone else to win. Hopefully this is the stepping stone to someday winning the award… in the last season maybe?

Isn't " Best Comedy Series " too narrow to fit all these different shows? For example, I love HIMYM, I also love Weeds, but they're apples and oranges. HIMYM is a primetime show that gets comedy from people acting like idiots in love. Weeds is a really dark PPV satire that gets comedy from corruption on all levels of the human condition. Different strokes, but both are awesome…
