How I Met Your Mother Season 5 Confirmed

Reader Joel pointed me to the news that How I Met Your Mother has officially been picked up by CBS for a fifth season. I didn’t think the show was in any jeopardy but it is nice that all that “on the bubble” worry of previous season finales is gone. Congratulations to Bays, Thomas, Fryman, and the entire cast for another year!

It’s also been announced that the show will move to the 8:00pm timeslot. If memory serves, this is where the show began. I don’t particularly think it matters but I just hope there isn’t any pressure from the network to “clean up” some of the racier show elements. So long as it shares an evening bracket with the fratty humor of Two and a Half Men I think it should be OK.

    I loved when the show was on at 8. I did not get why they switched it with BBT.

    HIMYM at 8pm
    new show at 8:30
    Two and Half Men at 9
    and BBT 9:30

    I wish Big Bang got the axe. I've never understood why CBS promoted the hell out of BBT, and hardly ever showed ads for HIMYM during football games, etc. And the funny thing is, the Mother STILL outperformed BBT in ratings most of the time.

    season5!!!! i hope it isn't the last… we'll just know in one way… if future ted doesn't point out future things like the goat or the wedding bride movie, it means s5 will be the last. :( hope not!

    While I'm happy for the renewal, I must admit that I think the writers do better their job when they're on the bubble rather than surely confirmed.

    Season 5 is gonna be awesome. I say :)

    HIMYM at 8
    Accidentally on Purpose (new sitcom with actress from Dharma & Greg, I've seen promo on YT and must say that this is gonna be very funny :D ) at 8:30
    TAAHM (years of greatness are gone but it's still pretty good) at 9:00
    TBBT (I don't know why this show has became such success… Have you seen IT Crowd? That is the greatest show about nerds! Sheldon is just boring…) at 9:30

    I think HIMYM will get higher ratings at the 8:00 time slot. Plus, since it will only be on a half hour earlier than normal, I don't think the censorship standards will be tighter. The new slot makes it more convenient for me since I always make the mistake of thinking it's on at 8 anyway! :)

    What I found totally funny is that I watched the trailer for Accidentally on Purpose and all I could think about what this little known movie called "Knocked up." Oh wait, a totally well known movie all on the same concept – except the chick who gets knocked up is older….

    Lame guy, fratting it up with a bunch of pothead roommates who is totally not ready to be a dad, but knocks a chick up from a one night stand….

    Hah, I'm sure it will be funny, because the movie was great, I just loved that they prepped it as this "new idea."

    Yeah, I've also seen 'Knocked Up' and of course main idea is very similiar, but still, nowadays it is very hard to come up with something new, innovative, which haven't been produced already.

    From what I know, the show is based on some book (probabaly it has the same title).

    As far as I'm concerned, this doesn't have to be some amazing, stunning show (I have already that kind of show – viva la Supernatural!), funny is enough :D .

    aah. the IT Crowd is awesome. if anyone wants to watch a good british comedy show.. check it out. its from the makers of Father Ted.. also legendary.

    so glad HIMYM has got another season.. i am so addicted to it.

    The shooting crew and production staff from HIMYM made the pilot of "Accidentally On Purpose". I wonder about the longevity of the premise. The pilot was really great.

    First off love the fact that season five is confirmed but like most of you I didn't actually even think it was an issue! I thought that was sewn up long ago. Secondly though please leave off Big Bang theory! I love that show. After Barney, Sheldon has to be one of the best characters on TV!

    I really think Big Bang Theory is stupid! I guess they have a very specific public! I still don´t know why this show still airs in Brasil and How I Met your Mother doesn´t (just on Fox Life, and i don´t have that channel on cable tv).

    If you get a chance to interview anyone in power, a reminder about the deleted scenes in season 4 dvd extras, but also will we see another slap this year?

    And maybe you could throw them an episode idea about having a "6th" person try and enter the group but have the whole cast despise that one character except for one of the people in the group. I'm surprised that idea hasnt been done already

    Finally one person who also loves Big Bang Theory! It really hit its stride this year. That 8 to 9 block has made my Mondays for the last two seasons…friends would come over every week for Jeopardy and CBS sitcoms. Now that the only two shows I watch on Monday have been split up I wonder if BBT ratings will suffer. I may not stay around twiddling my thumbs for an hour and I DEFINITELY won't be watching Accidentally on Purpose or Two and a Half Men.

    HIMYM is always on the menu, though, and I couldn't be more thrilled to see it finally getting off the bubble! I challenge all fans to arm yourselves with your DVDs this summer and get as many friends hooked as you can! That's my plan!

    Totally random (but still important :D ) question: Is the "our apartment", the building where Ted and Robin live (at "this" moment) really in New York? Because I am going to visit NY next autumn and would like to be a little fungirl spotting the building and maybe another shootingplaces. x) Like err, Empire State Building (yeah, HIMYM is the only reason to visit that. :D ).

    No, the show films at CBS studios in LA (well, Studio City). And since it's not in front of a studio audience, no one ever gets to see the sets. Sad day.

    That's not really true BBT was pretty much even with HIMYM in ratings and even beat HIMYM some weeks. BBT is a really funny show. I loved being able to watch both of them back to back.

    Just Shoot Me is now in reruns every afternoon on Comedy Central at 3:30et. Why would this be of interest to HIMYM fans? Well besides being a pretty funny show, almost every episode of Just Shoot Me was directed by HIMYM's own Pamela Fryman.

    I am absolutely estatic about season 5. Kinda makes you wonder when they're going to introduce who the mother is eh? Heaven forbid CBS pulls the plug on the show (for some God unknown reason) before they reveal the big secret, the show will become an epic failure

    Thank god for another season….honestly this is the only show on TV that I MUST watch…I wish other writers would learn what people want to see in primetime TV!!

    I've been watching HIMYM since the 'pilot' to 'the leap', and i found two interesting things:
    First: In ´ three days of snow ' , we see marshall scene where he says ' i can jump that far ' from ' the leap ';
    Second and most important: In 'sweet taste of liberty' when ted is putting his bag in the airport, we see a woman picking up a yellow bag. Its not any yellow, its a yellow like the umbrella.

    it is so obvious that these kids r not his, he is just speaking to someone else's kids
