How I Met Your Mother Stars See Raise, Extended Contracts
By JD
A couple readers sent me to the Hollywood Reporter article detailing the renegotiated salaries and contracts for all five leads. While still making considerably less then the cast of other ensemble shows, like The Office, Radnor, Segel, Hannigan, Smulders, and NPH all now make between $90K-$120K per episode.
These numbers were boosted due to the healthy syndication fees the show has taken in from Lifetime and also due to the increased popularity—in viewership and in ratings—the show has seen. The actor’s contracts were also extended to eight years, one more than the previous seven.
Eight seasons of HIMYM? I’m game.

Here's hoping that CBS isn't stupid and makes sure to keep that contract alive *crosses fingers*

I'm disgusted at how low their per episode salary is compared to other shows. Congrats on the raise though, and I'm excited for four more seasons!

It might be low compared to other shows, but honestly I just feel disgusted sometimes at how much people get paid to act on TV. I know that most people don't make it in that industry, those who do work hard, etc etc…but $90k-120k a week is more money than anyone could possibly need. (Disclaimer: I feel the same way about anyone who makes millions of dollars a year, not just those in show business, esp when they don't

I feel the same way about anyone who makes millions of dollars a year, not just those in show business, esp when they don't do something that really benefits society. Of course, we're all only human and I would hardly refuse to take that kind of money were it offered to me…so maybe I have no point here. Anyway, kudos to them! They certainly deserve this more than Charlie Sheen deserves his $0.8 million per episode of that heinous show, Two and a Half Men.

It's not $100K for a week's worth of work, they shoot, what?, 24 episodes? that's $2.4 million over the course of a year, divide that by 52 and it's $46K/week. Take out taxes, knocks it down to around $30 (let's just say.) Then factor in that the actors probably are responsible for the salaries of assistants, or at least are paying for their insurance and cars, apartments.
I'm not saying they aren't doing well, just that it isn't some astronomical travesty where they're lighting cigars with $100 bills.

I agree that $100K is too much for one week's worth of work; however, we choose to live in a capitalist society not a socialist one. If after years of mediocre ratings, HIMYM is finally generating buzz and millions of dollars then why shouldn't those who are most responsible for the success be entitled to the a large amount of those profits? Otherwise, those profits would wind up going to the corporations and executives who own HIMYM, but make bad and annoying decisions such as putting Britney Spears on the show.

You don't think providing entertainment for the American masses is something that really benefits society? Could you imagine what society would be like if we had no such entertainment?
