It’s Too Quiet in Here

So just because there aren’t any new episodes doesn’t mean we can’t talk. Here’s a random smattering of things:

First, the site broke 1,000 subscribers for the first time ever. Thank you all. Now start using that donate button.

I have done you all a disservice. You see, my friend Mike Ryan interviewed Josh Radnor and what came out of that was an (admittedly long) amazing conversation. I know yall on the Internet have the attention span of a Jack Russel but do take the time to read this. If only for 30 minutes each Monday until the new episodes air. I think you’ll find what I found—that Josh is a very deep, thoughtful actor who’s genuinely funny and interesting and loves what he does. It’s required reading for any true fan.

Since there’s no new HIMYM I’ve turned to my other favorite shows for entertainment. I don’t normally venture outside HIMYM-land but did you guys see the newest episode of Psych? If not, go watch it now. It’s easily the best episode ever of that series and is in my top ten favorite episodes of any show, ever. James Roday is at the top of my “wish they were my best friend” list. Wow. Stellar episode.

At work I’ve recently discovered that quite a few co-workers watch HIMYM regularly. Those that don’t I’ve lent the DVDs to and they’ve quickly converted. I’d love to hear your stories of getting friends interested in the show. I know I’ve heard from a lot of you regarding viewing parties each week, who started that up and who have you recruited over time?  I was lucky enough to attend one this past Monday where I showed The Stinsons. My recap will come when the episode aires. Any other good stories of finding other fans of the show? Tell me in the comments.

That’s all for now. See you all on 3/2 for the official recap of The Stinsons, if not sooner.

Psych is awesome and that was a good episode. I'm glad they let Gus take over being crazy for an episode. And the ending was amazing. When I was in college a group of 3-6 of us would watch; man I miss those days.

The ending was totally amazing. I just re-watched it.

As for recruiting friends to watch HIMYM I wasn't really inventive. I just talked my best friend into watching it. He didn't want to do so at first, but I got him to be as addicted to the show as I am, eventually. Now we're quoting HIMYM all the time and most people don't get the jokes because, sadly, the show isn't as popular in Germany as it is in the US. It's funny to share those insider jokes though.

Thanks so much for posting that interview! It was so good. As a crazy obsessive fan, ever since the beginning… I enjoyed it very much. haha Josh is wonderful.
My boyfriend was talking to his friend at work about How I met your Mother and I got so excited! His friend asked if I liked it, and my boyfriend was like are you kidding me? lol
I just love hearing about more people loving this show! Cause I'm almost talking about it and having people ask….what show are you talking about? I'm in the process of letting my friend borrow the seasons. I must convert. :)

I did see Psych! That was a good episode. Its such a good show. I need to watch it more often, cause every time I catch it on tv, I love it.

I'm a recent fan. My sister was the one who convinced me to watch himym and I remember watching the most recent episode at the time (Wooo!). I absolutely fell in love with the series right then and there. I vowed not to watch a single episode after that til I'm completely caught up. And so I started season 1 the very next day. When I got to the "Slutty Pumpkin" episode, my roommates came in and asked why I was laughing so hard. I told them to watch this episode with me and so they did. After that, they insisted on starting the whole season over despite the fact that we all had class in the next 30 mins. And for the next 5 days that was all that we did. Episode after episode, season after season only leaving the couch to use the bathroom and get more snacks. We missed all our classes that week, got F's on our tests and we were on the brink of failing that semester. We caught up with school though and we ended up doing okay that semester. But ever since, we've never missed an episode and Monday nights are reserved for himym. We actually work our schedule around the show just so we don't miss it. True story haha.

I just started watching the show in December and I'm on my re-watch of it now. I've just started getting friends into it. I came into one of their houses the other day and they were watching the Season 2 DVDs I loaned them. I was so proud.

Psych is an awesome show. I wish I could have Rachel Leigh Cook and Maggie Lawson fighting over me…lol.

I bought the first season HIMYM DVD after it came out and showed it to my brother and quickly converted him, and since then he has been an even better promoter of the show than I am. All of his friends are huge fans now.

Hey JD, do you ever watch No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain? He is doing a show tonight titled "Disappearing Manhattan." The theme is very reminiscent of the Best Burger in New York episode, and as a New Yorker I thought you would be interested to watch.

I have seen the show though I don't watch it often. Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely check that episode out. I love Tony.

I've recruited several friends to the show just in the last month. And I met my next door neighbor for the first time because he heard the familiar tune of the theme song as he walked down the hallway and knocked on my door to introduce himself.
