More site news: the redesign continues

OK, so I tweaked a couple more things.

First, I know a lot of you are ad haters. If you want to support the blog but ads aren’t your thing, I added a “donate” button in the middle column. If you want to throw me a dollar or two or twenty, it’d go to the good cause of paying for hosting, etc. And I’d really appreciate it.

Second, YouTube just started offering a sponsored video unit for blogs. I’ve added one below the first post on the main page and linked it up with Lifetime and TV Guide. I’ve got it playing as I write this and have to say it’s pretty cool. It’s like Entertainment Tonight but only about the stuff we like. It’s got interviews with the cast, behind the scenes info, and other cool content. Definitely check it out.

That’s all for now. I’m sure I’ll keep tweaking the design over the next little while since I’ll get new ideas.

Nothing wrong with tweaking. Ads in general don't bother me, but specific types do. I think overall it's more modern and better.

Anyone who complains about ads on a site like this should be shot. Or be forced to pay a subscription fee to access it.

I can understand why people don't like splogs or landing pages with nothing but ads, but when someone such as yourself spends a crap load of time working on a site like this and even cares enough to make sure the ads are relevant to the site (like the amazon associates stuff to the right) then they've got a heck of a lot of nerve making a fuss about a few banner ads.

And have you noticed the only people who complain about ads are the free-loaders who contribute nothing to the internet? They surf around with their AdBlock Plus feeling so superior to everybody else not even realizing that the internet would be one giant 404 if not for the very people that they're hurting with their anti-ad stance.

Congratulations, the site is still too wide for no actual functional reason, and before you tell me to get a higher screen resolution, mine is already set at 1680 x 1050, but I prefer to browse the web in a window that is 1024 wide, and of varying height, you know, so I can see other things at the same time and not have to have my web browser in full screen.

I salute you for sticking to your guns and keeping your site wider than standard so people have to adjust the size of their windows to see your full site without horizontally scrolling. I know if I was trying to use that extra space to try to place ads, I would probably put the ads in a place people can actually see them. But that is just me.
