Season 4, Episode 23: As Fast As She Can Preview

From what I can tell tonight’s primary focus will be on Ted and the continuation of last weeks’ cliffhanger. Many of you have said you believe that it’s Tony, Stella’s baby daddy who re-enters Ted’s life, not Stella herself. I think you might be correct:

Ted is trying to find a new job, and when an old acquaintance tries to help nothing goes as planned. Barney tries to smooth talk his way out of a ticket.

I’m intrigued by the gonzo Barney subplot. I can already hear the nay-sayers saying nay “Barney can’t drive, continuity error!” Either way, it should be good. It also shows that even after 200, the Barnicle isn’t hanging it up just yet.

PS. We’re dangerously close to 5,000 comments on the blog. That’s a big deal. To celebrate, I’ll be giving away a free copy of The Bro Code book (buy your own in the sidebar) to whoever leaves comment #5,000. The only rule being it must be an actual comment, no spam to try and game the system. I’ll announce the winner later this week.

JD… you gotta do us all a big favor… find out where they got Ted's yellow umbrella from. I've been searching the internet like crazy for that same one, and have had no luck. I think it would be a cool thing for all us fans to do to show our support for the show. I know you are the man who can get this scoop!

As for this upcoming episode, looks like it should be a good one. And congrats on the 5K comments, just goes to show how well-written your blog is and how many people enjoy reading it.

  2.  Ayah | May 11, 2009 @ 4:39 pm

Eesh, I don't like Tony… even in the picture he annoys me!
Hope the interaction between the "happy couple" and Ted won't seem forced… but i trust the writers to make it good.
I must admit the plot is not really appealing to me…

Will Lilly be back for that episode? I hope so, but they were talking about four weeks, and it's only been 3 episodes… miss her.

  3.  JackAtak08 | May 11, 2009 @ 4:47 pm

So now they're going to piss me off even more by bringing Tony back? I feel like I can't win with this show anymore!

It'll be interesting to see how the dots are connected with the finding of the mother and this Stella/Tony thing. To me it would seem that they are ready to reveal something big

  4.  Desmond Ong | May 11, 2009 @ 5:10 pm

Ah man…That spoils my HIMYM appetite. I never like Tony. For the seconds I see him karate-ing Ted.

I was expecting a bigger shock — like last weeks "Who taps Ted's shoulder?"

  5.  Jason | May 11, 2009 @ 5:40 pm

hee hee, Barney driving makes me laugh…

  6.  Christina | May 11, 2009 @ 5:40 pm

Is Lily in this episode or does she only return for the season finale?

  7.  Pizzaboy | May 11, 2009 @ 6:09 pm

I foresee a ticket for driving too slow. Like waaaaay too slow. hahaha

  8.  CourtneyE | May 11, 2009 @ 6:12 pm

Okay, LITERALLY, there has to be someone else who doesn't hate Stella or Tony? Right? Right? Anyone?!

  9.  High Hoper | May 11, 2009 @ 6:25 pm

I do want an umbrella just like that too!!!
I wonder how will they develop the ackward conversation. If I were Ted, maybe I'd be censored

    LOL

  10.  Pizzaboy | May 11, 2009 @ 6:30 pm

I have no problem with Stella, but Tony just, i don't know, irks me. And I can't quite put my finger on why he does.

  11.  JustinDickinson | May 11, 2009 @ 6:32 pm

Same here. But keep in mind the last time we saw him he was supposedĀ to irk us. Maybe this new Tony will be more endearing?

  12.  Pizzaboy | May 11, 2009 @ 6:37 pm

I would totally rock a bright yellow umbrella!

  13.  steve | May 11, 2009 @ 7:12 pm

Barney can drive. It never shows him driving (except in the Fiero episode) but he certainly talks like he does. Like I said, I'm not sure exactly when.

It may have been earlier in the series (I'm talking pre-Pineapple Incident, where there seems to be several continuity errors with the episodes later), but it's safe to assume that Barney "learned" how to drive finally.

  14.  Richard | May 11, 2009 @ 7:13 pm

i think it will have something to do with Tony's company and Stella can try to get Ted to work on a building. I don't know how they'll do it, but they have to make some sort of transition to the Tony angle.
Ted evidently feels happy to see Stella, as we all witnessed in last week's episode. The wild-card is Tony, and how Ted will react to being in a situation with him.

Oh, and I think we should all get umbrellas like in the show.

  15.  steve | May 11, 2009 @ 7:16 pm

BTW I don't hate Stella or Tony – as characters :) I think it should be interesting to see Tony legitimately fleshed out because he was such an afterthought for so long and then "BOOM!" here he is, flesh and blood, in all his karate-chop-action glory. And he had such a SMALL speaking role that his lines are all classics:

    "Stay alert stay alive!"
"Road Trip Two! Back in the Car!"

JD I'm not spamming congrats on 5,000 years hosting the Price is Right.

  16.  JustinDickinson | May 11, 2009 @ 7:20 pm

    Haha, awesome. Thank you.

  17.  Aster | May 11, 2009 @ 7:49 pm

"Eesh, I don't like Tony… even in the picture he annoys me! "
    I agree with Ayah…

In the picture, his smile makes me think to Captain Hammer in Dr horrible's Sing-Along Blog.

  18.  Amy | May 11, 2009 @ 8:07 pm

Oh my gosh! That is an fabulous idea! I actually have been searching for a Green Umbrella (my fave color) but beautiful colorful umbrellas are hard to come by.

  19.  Amy | May 11, 2009 @ 8:08 pm

I am actually very glad that Tony is back. Tony with Stella means that Stella shouldn't be a threat.

That way Ted won't try to hook up with her.

  20.  Amy | May 11, 2009 @ 8:13 pm

Hahah. I love that everyone on this website is also obsessed with Dr. Horrible.

I don't remember how or when I found this forum, but it pretty much makes my day everytime. Its so good to have other people who know all the background of the show to chat with!!!!

PPS. Everytime I see a commercial with Ranjit (Burger King), Wendy (some financial something), or Bilson (Beer) I just sit back and smile and think of how awesome HIMYM really is!

  21.  Ike | May 11, 2009 @ 8:33 pm

Jason Jones is ok, so Tony would be better if they develop him a bit. But I'd rather not waste time and get the Tony/Stella arc over.

I made a huge mistake by watching some interviews on e!online. I hope they gave us fake spoilers because if not I'll be upset (w myself for watching them).

  22.  Ike | May 11, 2009 @ 8:35 pm

Every time I see Ranjit I have to yell is name like they do. He's awesome.

  23.  SSJ | May 11, 2009 @ 9:03 pm

I'm acutally happy to see Stella :D . I know she's no mother so I'm cool with this storyline.

And I don't know if you forgot or not, but in 'The Goat' episode in third season Lily said that she is on Ted birthday's party and Stella also is there, so it would be weird if she didn't appear in season finale right?

  24.  Taryn | May 11, 2009 @ 9:32 pm

i would definitely like to think that it's Tony that's going to help Ted out at this point and time, but i'm really leaning toward the idea that The mother is one of stella's friends. The whole saint patricks day party connection and all.

also, it could be any sort of ticket, not just a speeding or parking ticket. maybe he was jaywalking. :p

  25.  Danielle | May 11, 2009 @ 9:35 pm

To think Stella picked Tony over Ted just confuses me..hahaha

Ted is a good looking guy…Tony NOT SO MUCH.
    Plus he is strange.

  26.  George | May 11, 2009 @ 9:45 pm

if it is Tony that gets in the way, i still hope to see a lot of Stella, do you think shell be in HIMYM more now that Scrubs is over

  27.  Westfall | May 11, 2009 @ 10:11 pm

Ted's birthday has already passed, am i the only one who noticed that?

  28.  kress | May 11, 2009 @ 10:19 pm

funny enough, I also looked online to see if I could find the umbrella after last week. It seems that I am not the only one who thinks the same way.

Excited for tonight's episode. I think it could turn out being very interesting regardless of what happens

  29.  Kathryn | May 11, 2009 @ 10:24 pm

I don't know .. It's not so much that I hate Stella, as I'm bitter and don't want her in Ted's life after she crushed him like that. That being said, as annoying as Tony is, I'm glad that he's back in the picture (literally, ha — okay, that was terrible) because it will quiet those who were up in arms about Ted possibly getting back with Stella. Not that I wanted that, but at least now we know that she's still with Tony and definitely not the Mother.

Longtime lurker, first time commenter — hope that doesn't count me as spam! =)

  30.  ashlee | May 11, 2009 @ 10:32 pm

good point about the ticket… it doesn't necessarily mean it's a driving-related ticket.

  31.  Diss_slacker | May 11, 2009 @ 10:43 pm

ha! the look that stella is flashing tony in the above picture is hilarious! s. chalke does have a great face for physical comedy. I hope she sticks around in the show as Ted's friend…we could use another lady in the show, frankly.

  32.  xrosetylerx | May 11, 2009 @ 11:21 pm

BSMOOTH, a friend of mine has one exactly like Ted's, I don't remember where she got it, but I screamed, TED'S UMBRELLA!!!!!!!! She doesn't watch the show so she looked at me like I was crazy. I live in Spain, though, but I can assure you, they exist, lol.

I might get one for me, I'll ask her, maybe I can find out the brand or something.

  33.  xrosetylerx | May 11, 2009 @ 11:25 pm

I don't like Tony either, it's one of those characters I would slap if he wouldn't kill me right after slapping him. But if he leads somehow Ted to the mother, he's welcomed.

Plus, I think Barney's having a dream or something. He might be fantasizing as he has "renounced" to that life of womanizer…nah, I don't think so, but it might be a fantasy.

  34.  xrosetylerx | May 11, 2009 @ 11:28 pm

I like Stella, it's just that I'm a bit angry at her, but before she did what she did, I LOVED her, I wanted her to be the mother so bad. I'm still angry, I hope she makes it up somehow. I really like Sarah Chalke and her character was hilarious. Her Star Wars rant… oh, it was PRICELESS.

  35.  JustinDickinson | May 11, 2009 @ 11:45 pm

We all know the show jumps around. All Future Ted has to say is \”Oh, I forgot to tell you about my 31st birthday!\” and we're right back in it.

  36.  Another Sarah | May 11, 2009 @ 11:50 pm

I REALLY WISH THAT YOU WOULDN'T HAVE MENTIONED THOSE SPOILERS.

  37.  Westfall | May 12, 2009 @ 12:01 am

True, J.D., he may do that, but in this case it doesn't fit. Stella wasn't in his 31st birthday since "Right Time Right Place" takes place in May. Unless Future Ted messed that date too.

  38.  GeL | May 12, 2009 @ 12:27 am

I'm SOOOOOOO looking forward to tonight's episode!!! For the last two weeks, I've been rewatching all of the seasons to see if I've missed anything, but needless to say, despite all my research, I'm sure I'm going to be surprised once again, just like every other time! Look forward to tonight and any new information we may gather…I'm PUMPED!!

  39.  Amy | May 12, 2009 @ 12:46 am

I hope she doesn't… Ted can't surround himself with exes… its not healthy.

  40.  Amy | May 12, 2009 @ 12:46 am

Um…. I am currently watching… and Stella just said that Tony dumped her…. how sad. I'm nervous, and waiting for these commercials to be over!

  41.  Amy | May 12, 2009 @ 12:52 am

This show is sooo intense… Stella… is asking Ted to get Tony back for her.

Ted is such a good guy. I can't even believe he did that for her. Makes me love him that much more.

  42.  redviper | May 12, 2009 @ 12:54 am

Damn too sappy. And I hate Stella. So much so that I don't even like Elliot in Scrubs.

  43.  Amy | May 12, 2009 @ 12:55 am

Haha, but you had to love when both Robin and Barney ripped on Stella right in front of her :)

  44.  Frankenberry | May 12, 2009 @ 12:56 am

I thought we were getting another website from Tony's movie's poster, but http://www.weddingbridemovie.com doesn't exist.

  45.  kevin | May 12, 2009 @ 12:58 am

It will be interesting to see how they play Tony's movie in to the show..especially with the cover of the movie being what looks like a bride/groom combo on top of a cake and another guy standing there. I guess it depends on how long the show continues on as to what they will do with it.

AND YES! she is back!!!!!!! finally.

  46.  Amy | May 12, 2009 @ 12:59 am

    Lillllllllyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was so so so excited! I also love that she is still preggers! :)

  47.  redviper | May 12, 2009 @ 12:59 am

Robin's "you gotta bump this" was worth having to look at Stella's face.

  48.  Amy | May 12, 2009 @ 1:06 am

No – because Bays and Thomas said Ted is unreliable as a narrator.

  49.  Nightwing | May 11, 2009 @ 9:06 pm

I’m very surprised the movie site wasn’t active. It was the first thing I saw when I saw the poster.

  50.  Kress | May 12, 2009 @ 1:06 am

Funny that they worked her back in and it seemed rather seamless.

Barney's plot is defensible because we know he can drive, he just could not drive when he met Ted and whenever the transit strike was referred to "Arrividerci Fiero"

  51.  denii | May 12, 2009 @ 1:58 am

i really thought the hand that touched Ted's shoulder belonged to a man!
well, maybe im just wrong, but well.. just guessing.
Btw, do you know any link to download that episode or it wasn't transmitted in the usa yet?
because in Uruguay this show doesn't exist- and it isn't in surfthechanel yet (N)
    thank youuu!
    hope it's the 5000 :)

  52.  Carrie | May 12, 2009 @ 2:06 am

I was really hesitant watching tonight's show. It almost felt wrong for Tony to be helping Ted. I didn't want Ted to take his handout. Ted is better than that.

However, as the show progressed, I warmed up. I liked the moment in the car with Stella and Ted near the end. I think it was the right advice at the right time for him.

    I LOVE LILLY!

  53.  Carrie | May 12, 2009 @ 2:08 am

I agree! The movie storyline should be interesting. I take it the movie is based on Ted/Stella/Tony………..so the big question is: Why would we need to come back to that later?

  54.  Chris | May 12, 2009 @ 2:47 am

I'm really happy this episode happened, old ted is back :)

  55.  ZZZ | May 12, 2009 @ 3:15 am

    loved the episode!
im really glad ted didn't relapse with stella, but i figured he would help her out
    ted's such a nice guy

i can't wait for the finale next week!

  56.  Chrysee | May 12, 2009 @ 3:20 am

So is the link to the mother just that the experiences of the last two episodes have made Ted a romantic again? Because if so, that's lame. I thought we were gonna get something a little more concrete.

  57.  Aaron | May 12, 2009 @ 3:26 am

Hey I'm a little behind, just watched the episode on tivo. Felt like another ripoff tonight, I mean Ted was such a sap talking to Tony and the whole stella interaction. I wasn't impressed. And Barney driving? Please, if the writers are going to screw up continuity, can't they at least put something in there to have it make sense? Like a joke about how he finally went to driving school? I just hope that the finale makes up for the last few flops, season 1 and 2 were so much better.

Thats my bit, congrats on the 5,000 comments, this blog rocks.

  58.  Aaron | May 12, 2009 @ 3:28 am

oh I totally forgot… how funny was the way that Lily stopped by haha, they did a great job covering up her belly with the bag and jacket. Loved it.

  59.  Emilie | May 12, 2009 @ 3:39 am

Does anyone remember that Barney doesn't drive?!

And Yes, I want a yellow umbrella too. Please.

  60.  TedMosbySexArchitect | May 12, 2009 @ 3:46 am

I agree, I believe they have been screwing up with Barney quite a bit lately, the 200 list and now the driving, it's as if they got some new writers that have no interest in taking into account important aspects that assisted in the development of Barney's character. To me they've been getting a little sloppy lately.

  61.  TedMosbySexArchitect | May 12, 2009 @ 4:01 am

Personally, I think Jason Jones is hilarious.

  62.  GeL | May 12, 2009 @ 4:20 am

Yeah, tonight's episode was ok, but I felt like they were just dragging it to get to the finale. I loved that they brought Lily back!!! Best part of tonight's show? Robin asking Ted to give her a jab…hilario!!!

I'm still confused as to how Barney went from driving 5 miles per hour in the Fierro and being freaked out of his mind, to getting 15+ citations in three days for speeding…there has got to be something behind this.

  63.  Stacy | May 12, 2009 @ 4:32 am

Is Tony the one who hooks Ted up with The Mother? I'm itching to find out! …How are they going to fix the Barney Driving situation? I know Barney is a man of mystery but c'mon!

  64.  Pizzaboy | May 12, 2009 @ 4:53 am

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thought that. I was expecting another clue. Something like the yellow umbrella. And all I get is romantic Ted back. Sigh…

  65.  Major Buzzkill | May 12, 2009 @ 6:00 am

I'm conflicted. I liked that they got closure on Stella more, because we know they had to cut that off quickly due to contract reasons. And I do like the character development, the reminder that Ted's had a bad year and hasn't been himself, but that he might be growing into a more mature romantic finally. At the same time, it does feel a *little* cheap to drag out the yellow umbrella and not deliver on that.

This episode didn't feel cohesive, though. Overall, for some reason. It wasn't very funny, it was much more dramatic. Which is fine, it's just that for some reason the episode never 'clicked' for me.

I'm not concerned about the Barney driving thing. Someone pointed out in a discussion of The Bracket that it's quite possible the story in Arrivederci Fiero took place many years ago, and that Barney has since learned to drive. Obviously that's conclusive now, which is fine, it works fine. It would kind of have been funny to play up Barney not ever learning to drive, but it's not really something to get bothered over as the continuity of it actually still works. What's more interesting to me is the fact that apparently Barney owns a car. Guess he just never wants to drive people anywhere :p

  66.   J  | May 12, 2009 @ 6:19 am

Tony in the karate suit was great.

Robin's "you must bump this" line stole the episode. Snarky Robin is Robin at her best.

  67.   J  | May 12, 2009 @ 6:24 am

PS. I think the movie Tony writes that Ted says well get to later is going to be of importance, especially since syndication has the show only guaranteed until next season. If Ted gets a movie made about him tony and stella then im sure there will be laughs and someone attached to the film could be the mother.

Just a thought as I dont like all the setup for the return of romantic ted, although I have missed him.

  68.  SSJ | May 12, 2009 @ 8:22 am

I hope season finale will be better. Tony didn't entertain me bery much, Stella was 'ok', she was necessary to gave Ted speech about that 'the one is just behind the corner' and stuff, but overall this show had better episodes.

I love Ted's ringtone!!! It was the greatest scene!

  69.  Westfall | May 12, 2009 @ 9:50 am

In the Bracked he drove off and left that last girl (can't remember her name right now) stranded in the woods, plus in the bar, when he appoligises to the girl he thought was the saboteur, he mentions once trading a girl for a Mercedes.
It's obvious that since the Fiero incident he has learned how to drive. Thats the most simple explanation. Is that so difficult to accept? Why must it be a continuity error, a lapse from the writers? Did you want an episode showing Barney in driving school? Nitpicking can be a good thing but nitpicking taken too far is lunacy.

  70.  olivia | May 12, 2009 @ 9:58 am

    so barney can drive now???

  71.  Ayah | May 12, 2009 @ 10:00 am

I agree with you on the 'dramatic over funny' thing. Which made it a good episode, but not legendary to me. Lilly & Marshall wedding episodes were, in my opinion, a perfect balance between the history part and the funny part.

So I'm a little disappointed for this pre-finale…

Agree, too, for the yellow umbrella… a little light… it's like they show the umbrella just to remind us "hey! It's still about meeting the mother! see!"
But it might not be over with Stella and Tony: Wil Stella be here at Ted's birthday party? What about Tony's screenplay… is there a happy end for Ted in it?

(I am critical, but there were LOL moments… like "Challenge accept- wait for it – *TED*", Robin's fistbump, or Let's go to the mall phone ring)

About Barney driving: doesn't he drive a sort of truck in a season 2 episode ("Moving day") where he hides Ted's stuff?

(It was a long comment… sorry again for my english writing skills!)

  72.  olivia | May 12, 2009 @ 10:00 am

    ….watch the episode….

  73.  ilovesandwiches | May 12, 2009 @ 10:14 am

The only way that Barney can get a ticket for driving if he is going too slow!!! If thats the way they do then its in character. We didn't see a whole lot of Tony but the bits we did see he was a douche. But if he solves part of the puzzle of who is the mom then we can live with it.

  74.  Westfall | May 12, 2009 @ 10:24 am

As for the Barney driving thing, that is another instance where we saw him driving, you right.

But as for the Stella at Ted's 31st birthday thing, i'll say it again very slowly. Ted's… 31st… birthday… has …already… passed.
The only way she can be at that party is if the guys forgot about Ted's birthday and make him a surprise party afterwards. But i don't think this gang would forget a birthday.

  75.  Westfall | May 12, 2009 @ 10:25 am

He's been seen driving before. See "Moving Day" and "The Bracket" for more on that.

  76.  olivia | May 12, 2009 @ 10:30 am

    aahhh yes i remember now.

  77.  steve | May 12, 2009 @ 10:52 am

Ted's 31st Birthday will be next week. I understand that the actual "day" is May 3rd (IIRC), but is it so Dr. Horrible to believe that they used that episode for sweeps?

Plus, next week's is the one that got filmed way back in January or something. And it's the real "Goat" story (provided Ted "Bob Saget" Mosby didn't have a senile lapse in judgement once again), so that should be a triple-threat-count-again scenario for everyone.

Here's the big question: what's the big cliffhanger? Or rather, WILL there be one? Season 3 was the only one that finished totally unresolved, and in fact the show has NOT officially been picked up for Fall (although it seems unlikely to think that it won't be, but they may be planning a Winter re-launch due to the two pregnancies).

Also I'm pretty certain that tonight's footnote was filmed sometime in the past several weeks, after Hannigan gave birth to Sandy Rivers Jr.

Ahoy I have written a lot.

  78.  dckatiebug | May 12, 2009 @ 11:01 am

A so-so episode, but I really cannot wait for the finale ..

  79.  Ike | May 12, 2009 @ 11:16 am

There's still next week for a link to occur.

  80.  Ike | May 12, 2009 @ 11:26 am

Nice drama, too little funny. But there were some good lol's. I really liked Stella's speech to Ted and can forgive her a little, and I think Ted does the same. He's a romantic, he cannot stand in someone's way to 'the one'. Can't wait till the Leap to see where this is headed.

P.S. Noobs to the blog, we've had the whole Barney driving discussion before. It slightly bothered me when Moving day aired, but when you discount the Barney's Blog content as not canon to the show, and realize that the famous scene in Arriverderci Fiero is before the series started it's reasonable that Barney can now drive. And I bet that he learned to do so to get in some girls pants.

I'm so glad someone else caught that! My husband didn't when we were watching

  82.  Westfall | May 12, 2009 @ 11:53 am

Actually, Ted's birthday is April 25th. Maybe Stella has gotten her hands on some Red Matter and goes back in time…

  83.  Westfall | May 12, 2009 @ 12:04 pm

I think these episodes served to do what the writers wanted to do back when Stella left Ted at the altar but couldn't because of Sarah Chalke's commitment to Scrubs. It brings some closure that the "we're hidding under a tabble 'till she leaves" episode didn't. Maybe Ted will eventually accept that position as teacher and the mother works at that college too or he's invited by Tony to do some design work for his movie and meets the mother in the movie staff. There's a world of possibilities. And FYI, i love Stella, dispite what she did, and i love Sarah Chalke, she's awesome… ROFL with the whole french girl just like Stella but with bigger cans… Chalke plays these over the top sexy fantasy girls so well.

this episode was far superior to last season's penultimate one.

  85.  Major Buzzkill | May 12, 2009 @ 4:30 pm

It really is a pretty simple explanation. There are some continuity things that are harder to explain away, but this one really isn't. The Fiero stuff was a flashback, and obviously could have been a long time ago, I agree.

  86.  Major Buzzkill | May 12, 2009 @ 4:33 pm

Or maybe they just say that the finale takes place on April 25th. Not that hard to do.

  87.  Westfall | May 12, 2009 @ 4:48 pm

    "Everybody come and play…". ROFL

  88.  Westfall | May 12, 2009 @ 4:53 pm

Even if they do that and the story for the last episode happens on April 25th, wich, since this is told from the future and, as in the last 3 episodes of season 2, they can back up and in the story line, that doesn't change the fact that Stella can't be there. He only met her on the street corner in May. So, once more, with feeling… "STELLA CAN'T BE AT TED'S 31st BIRTHDAY PARTY!" (unless she's gotten her hands on the afore-mentioned red matter!)

  89.  Beth | May 12, 2009 @ 5:33 pm

I've always liked Stella. She clearly isn't right for Ted, but I like her as a character, and Sarah Chalke as an actress. I really don't get all the Stella hate.

Tony, on the other hand – he's very funny, but I can't say I like him. He doesn't seem to be very bright, and he comes across as really selfish.

LOL bro code – got it already xD it's really great
FYI, read article 69<— briliant xD

The truth about Hollywood is that when it comes to timelines, I haven't seen too much in the way of dates on this show. Therefore, it is ENTIRELY conceivable that this might all be around April 3rd! And even though I was wrong about the Stella thing in last week's post, as it turns out, she still had a part to play in the whole thing.

My one big thing is I am wondering if they will do the same thing to Cobie (Robin) that they did to Allyson (Lily). Does "The Barnacle" come up with a story WORSE than the "Peanut Butter" joke? And how, if they take that road, will it affect the Barney/Robin subplot?

  92.  Emilie | May 12, 2009 @ 8:20 pm

They definitely should have explained how Bareny learned to drive, even if it was just a line of narration. I feel like the Carter brothers are leaving holes everywhere.

  93.  Emilie | May 12, 2009 @ 8:26 pm

Seasons 1 & 2 were significantly better. I think they are mistakenly sheading the history of Barney as they mature his character. Sure he's growing up and thinking about settling down with Robin, but he did say he would never have anything such as a "tautry list" of women he's banged (hence the scrapbook) and he can't drive. How does a character go from being terrified behind the wheel at 5 mph to getting 15 moving violations in three days? I love this show but the lack of continuity is defintely upsetting.

  94.  anon9631 | May 12, 2009 @ 9:24 pm

Just because it May IN REAL LIFE, doesn't mean that it's May yet on the show. Nothing says today's date has to equal the date on the show. I might have missed it, but I haven't heard any of the characters reference the date, so why is it so hard to believe that maybe in HIMYMland, it's still April?

  95.  Westfall | May 12, 2009 @ 10:43 pm

Have you seen the episodes? I'm not so stupid that i believe the date on the show is the same date in real life. But when the episode starts with THE MAIN CHARACTER SAYING ITS MAY 2009, i tend to think that the episode is taking place in May 2009. Simple, isn't it?

  96.  Westfall | May 12, 2009 @ 10:50 pm

I think Cobbie will have the kid during the hiatus, she's expecting to give birth during this spring. So, unless she takes an extended leave, there won't be any need to make Robin disapear. And frankly, it would take a lot more than the peanut butter- jam joke to make Robin go. Unlike Lilly, she would find that one funny.

Hey guys just a quiery as to how many people from different countries uses this site?
I myself am an Aussie yet love reading up on the episodes each week. Unfortunatley our channel 7 is currently still way behind. This week they showed barney with his pyjama suit. Only way i get to see up to date eps are to download them. but i do buy the box sets for each season as they come out to help to support the show.
So how many people from different countries do we have using this site?

  98.  anon9631 | May 14, 2009 @ 6:21 pm

Sorry – my bad. Like I said, I might have missed it. Yes, I did see the episode, but I must not have heard that. My intention was not to imply that you're stupid.

Another continuity error to point out when Ted and Stella are dating she tells him that her first time was in Sophomore year of college while in this episode she says she was pregnant with Lucy by 19. Look it up ^.^

    Cheers
