[...] Last night was the season finale of How I Met Your Mother, and the show’s protagonist Ted Mosby capped off the worst year of his life by deciding to shed his past identity as an architect who gets browbeaten by washcloth-obsessed goats–a leap that was replicated by Ted and his five friends jumping across their apparently very narrow side street, and on to the tricked-out deck of a neighbor. The song that soundtracked this mass Spider-Man impersonation was AC Newman’s “Prophets,” which appeared on the lead New Pornographer’s most recent solo album, Get Guilty. A live clip of that track after the jump. This has been something of a rough season, what with the Stella and the various tents that the two pregnant female leads have had to wear to hide their conditions, but last night I realized just how much I love this show. Although two things: first, I did think that the good vibes were going to be completely thrown off by the neighbors onto whose deck the five pals leapt coming outside and either calling the police or throwing a big hot-tub-centric party of their own; and second, under-22-minute running times for allegedly half-hour shows are just criminal. I'm almost sure Ted wont hook up with the mother of his kids in his class.

It makes me think about the No Tomorrow episode and the one with the reference to the Butterfly Effect(I think, you know what I mean). There is a whole build-up to meeting his wife, and you ,,wait for it" a long time, but it doesn't happen.

But I don't care, this show may last dozens of seasons if it were up to me. I LOVE HIMYM.

Finale was really brilliant, opened a window of hope for both Ted and us viewers. Finally we are going to meet mother of How I Met Your Mother. I didnt like robin and barney kissing scene. Though i like them as pair, waiting for this to happen for long time. And Ted becoming professor got me thinking too about what i am planning for my life.

I have to admit, I let out a triumphant YES when it showed him in that classroom at the very end. Right when Stella's hubby brought up the possibility it all clicked for me and I was devistated when he turned it down so quickly. I automatically remember the flashback from seasons ago: "In fact, that ae together means that's it's pronounced encyclopAYdia." Perfect.

It was ok. It was a decent finale but it feels like ti needed more. A lot happened to TED and I didnt feel this was a amazing wrap up of that.

I still don't like this Barney and Robin thing… it seems really forced. I still never got why all these fans want it? There seems to be so much more they can do with those characters then having then get stuck in a one dimensional plot. But oh well.

I can't wait until next season… still one of the best written shows on TV.

Ookay, so season 4`s finale totally rocked my world! I mean – look at how mellow it was (in terms of revelations) and yet it all came together so well! I laughed SO hard at SO many moments! Marshall as a vampire! Mr Goat!! Sven!!! Ehh!!!!
I`ve also officialy became a top notch Robarn fan, because their scenes were awesome, cool, yet in character! Guys, they just talked about their feelings openly AND made an actual great scene out of it!
And Ted – good for this guy to finally turn his old self! About time I say, about time! No, seriously, I`m looking forward to Professor Mosby. And NO, Stella is absolutely NOT going to be in the Architecture class!! Not that I don`t like her, it`s just that the idea of not meeting the Mother yet is much better and more realistic.
So, yeah, gonna have to rewatch it a few (dozen) times!!

First, seems like my post was lost so…

Great find on that screencap! An now, of shoe fetishes Marshall was wearing the same pair of shoes on all of his jump attempts except for the Dracula scene. Ted's stunt double was not wearing the same type of shoe. You can see this during the cam focus on the leap.

Good grief, due to enormous problems with a) my computer and b) the internet I wans´t able to comment the last episodes, but hell I simply HAVE to comment on this one.
First of all, the HIMYM finale was AWSOME! The last episodes were great, but man, this one? It was so incrdible! I loved everything about it: the goat (though I expected something more dramatic), the BRo storyline, the fact that Lily was back. EVERYTHING! Ted becoming a teacher was a good choice, it seems right and leaves a lot of possibilities open. Barney and Robin deciding to "sort it out later" was sooo in character, I absolutely loved it. And did you see all those call-backs (though, yes, the sluttty pumpkin attended the party on a noght Marshall was dresses as Cher)??? I honestly can´t wait to see the first episode of season 5. Go HIMYM!!!

About the slutty pumpkin…
We can see in Season 1 episode 6 (Slutty Pumpkin) that the slutty pumpkin costume is totally different from the one seen in that flashback :s
There's a moment that she's shown from her back and it's a giant pumpkin :S

I always thought that Robin´s character was kind of lost on tranck on season 3… But that´s really how Robin was supposed to feel when lost a job and a boyfriend that was about to get Married! I always thought was well that Robin and Barney really wouldn´t work out… but I changed my mind on that because of "The Leap"! During season 4 Barney and Robin really got closer as was really well said before! And the way Robin treated that matter is a real ROBIN thing… and just, out of nowhere showing her mixed up feelings.. is a very Robin thing! So Ya! I do´n´t really think we can say NOW, after this finnaly that RoBarn is forced (even though i think they should be togheter just during season 5).

Great Finale almost cried when the sound on my laptop stopped working (thankfully it got fixed) I was just looking around for more HIMYM news as i'm already impatient for series 5 and I came across some trivia that in Something blue the proposal was real. I thought that was really cool.

Well put! I think she'd been getting there as well. Think about the \”I'm sorry but you must bump this\” bit from As Fast As She Can. Was that not exactly something Barney would say? She's been moving toward that, but in classic Robin style, wasn't aware of it. It would've been weirder, and out of character, for her to have some heart-to-heart with Lily or Ted about it.

I don't know…it seems to me like they've evolved her friendship with Barney really well over the course of the season. She went to him on Shelter Island before she left, they spent a lot of time together when he did her video resume, she helped him with the Murtaugh list (and I'm sure there's a few more examples that I'm not thinking of) It can happen – good friends' feelings can all of the sudden become complicated…sometimes seemingly out of nowhere. True, she hadn't CONSCIOUSLY been thinking of him that way, but when she all of the sudden realized that he had feelings for her, it could very well make her realize that sub-consciously she had feelings too, and just hadn't realized it yet.

Once again your HIMYM colored glasses are clouding your judgment. While this was overall a fantastic episode, RoBarn is forced. There's no way that Robin all of the sudden, after never showing an inkling of being honestly into Barney for anything other than a one-nighter hookup when she was vulnerable is a reach to say the least. What, all of the sudden she has conflicted feelings about him? When/where was that shown? Robin's feelings are forced and weak. I'm sure they'll play it out and eventually we'll never realize that we felt it was forced, but that hasn't happened yet.

I just saw the episode (I'm French so I have to wait like 3 days…) and all I have to say is…WOW. Really awesome. The Robarn stuff was my favorite, looks like their relationship is going to be legendary and not cliché. More passionate.
As for Ted, it's good to watch him evolve, finally moving on and the "damn if it wasn't the best year of my life" was fabulous.

The end was epic. They all take "the leap". Barney jumping for Robin was beautiful and Ted for a new life was great!!!

If I loved this episode? Yes!! a million times yes!!

I know that Lilly cant keep a secret but I dont get why she told Barney that Robin had Mosbied him. The plan worked perfectly and then she just told him but it didnt seem natural. Of course they had to do that for the story to continue.

I loved the finale and all the callbacks. A few things though. Someone already mentioned Ted's telling the kids about one of his buildings so he goes back to architecture at some point. Also, I hope they dont turn his class into a guess who of mothers. Dont show any of the women in the class during season 5. I would also imagine that they do not start dating while he is teaching her.

Cant wait for next season
