at the halfway point for tonights episode, I have a feeling this may be one of the best episodes of the season.
BGeo | Monday, December 7th, 2009 09:28 pm GMT -4
Hahahaha barney going into the old lady’s house was hilarious!
Great episode to get Ted back on track to meeting his wife.
2nd best love story he’s ever heard? Are we to assume that his is the first?
shmeeftin | Monday, December 7th, 2009 09:37 pm GMT -4
whats the song near the end of the episode? shmeef
SlapBetCommish | Monday, December 7th, 2009 09:39 pm GMT -4
Holy Hell, Marshall can time travel!
Geri | Monday, December 7th, 2009 09:55 pm GMT -4
LMAO at 15 year old Marshall in the overalls, with a rat tail, listening to Snow (who’s Canadian by the way)!
Jason Segel – you will always be my Vanilla Thunder *sigh*
BGeo | Monday, December 7th, 2009 10:00 pm GMT -4
15 year old marshall was hilarious. @geri I immediately recognized snow
I loved how touched Ted was when all of his students actually wanted to hear him talk about bridges
“go get it energized!”
Smacy | Monday, December 7th, 2009 10:13 pm GMT -4
I would also like to know what the song is that was toward the end of tonight’s episode!!! Thanks
Liberty Bell Licker | Monday, December 7th, 2009 10:14 pm GMT -4
The Window puts the show right back on track after last week’s crapfest. Ted’s all lovey-dovey again, Marshall and Lily are growing old and cute together, Robin was hilariously single and Barney is up to his usual, Emmy-snubbed antics.
I love this show.
Keep | Monday, December 7th, 2009 10:16 pm GMT -4
From what you guys are saying, I’m excited to watch it online late late late tonight!
Now I’m off to finish my work and reach my reward of HIMYM
valdemaar | Monday, December 7th, 2009 11:03 pm GMT -4
Finally, show seems back on track. Other than that, perfectly said, Liberty Bell Licker.
valdemaar | Monday, December 7th, 2009 11:25 pm GMT -4
Have to add: First time this season I instantly rewatched an episode…
Spencer | Monday, December 7th, 2009 11:40 pm GMT -4
Ok, the song featured at the end is called “Two Weeks’ by the band Grizzly Bear.
Keep | Monday, December 7th, 2009 11:48 pm GMT -4
WHAT’S IN THE BOOOXXX???
loved it. haha
Aaron | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 12:13 am GMT -4
Fantastic. This was the best episode of the season thus far. Only The Playbook comes close.
ev. mosby | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 12:23 am GMT -4
Loved it loved it loved it! My wishes came true – we got to see Ted handle his love life and actually teach architecture! The Really? he said when his students showed interest in his work was so funny. After sooo many countless episodes revolving around Swarkles I’m glad the show now feels like it used to be: Marshall and Lily as a cute couple, Barney and Robin as bros, Ted as a romantic looking for the One. Not a lot of major ROFLs, but as a whole the episode felt tight.
Joben | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 01:20 am GMT -4
Best episode of the season! I loved that future Marshall can time travel! That’s just Ridonkulas!!! =D
Stevek | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 01:29 am GMT -4
I was really glad to see the show back on track tonight. While the time travel bit was hilarious…i just seemed really out of place. I hope we get to see future Ted’s kids on hoverboards in the finale.
JT | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 01:44 am GMT -4
I’m totally digging with everybody else on this episode. This was definitely classic HIMYM formula, without overhash of some of the running gags in the show. I’m now dying to see how the season will keep rolling out!
But one thing that got me riled up: Cute Lily was back in full swing (and desiring sex with Marshall in weird places, while she’s at it!)
Gel | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 01:52 am GMT -4
Did anyone notice that Maggie was on season 1, episode “Okay, Awesome”. She was the girl Robin introduced her to at the club, except she was blonde then. Am I right or wrong??
Grizzly Bear rocks!! Was psyched when they came on at the end of the episode tonight.
Loved the show tonight!! So glad to see Ted back on track!!
Jenn- GCWOK Approved | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 02:25 am GMT -4
It wasn’t my favorite. I mean, it was ok, but it wasn’t the best. Which is weird, because I wanted to see Ted’s story and class and everything. Maybe I was just in a bad mood from work or something.
One part I did like was when Ted’s students all said they wanted to hear him go on and on about bridges and how much that meant to him. I liked that.
Hannah | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 02:46 am GMT -4
Um the girl Robin introduced in “Okay, Awesome” is Vanessa Evigan. The actress in this episode was JoAnna Garcia. JoAnna was on “Reba” for a while, you might have recognized her from that.
In regards to the episode. I was still a little disappointed. I almost felt bad for Robin when she was acting all awkward and getting denied. I am going to watch it again though.
I always love Marshall though, every single episode he cracks me up.
Gel | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 02:50 am GMT -4
Awesome! Thanks…she did look familiar but after watching season 1 this weekend and watching tonight, they looked so much alike to me.
katie90 | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 03:23 am GMT -4
i knew that girl from gossip girl, totally weird since she just stopped appearing there, like, 3 episodes ago. liked her, though, and could see why she’d be the perfet girl next door. kind of on that topic – for the first time today i watched the background at maclaren’s and is it always the case that there is not a single normal-looking girl in that bar?! they were all hot and i found it kind of weird
i liked the episode. still something felt kind of off, i don’t think it’s really back to its old form yet but it’s getting there. i think robin was what was annoying me, she was so over the top. plus, we kind of had the “why is the other girl getting all the attention”-story with lily and her in liberty bell.
was great to see ted back on his search and barney just trolling the bar for girls and challenging himself, though. marshall’s “that’s what you should’ve achieved by now” didn’t do it for me, they had that in like every other sitcom there is. and i loved that we got to see ted in his class again. good to see he’s appreciated there, i was wondering about that. but unlike most of the episodes, there’s no quote that sticks out for me after the first viewing. that’s kind of unusual, i always find one i love, even in the worst episodes
BGeo: i think that’s exactly what we should assume
Keep | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 03:38 am GMT -4
I love that Robin pulls that “Challenge Accepted” on Barney. Nice to see them both in their single selves.
katie90 | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 03:44 am GMT -4
..sorry for the long comment
Michl | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 04:44 am GMT -4
Much much better then last episode (but that’s not really difficult).
)
loved marshall, ted and his class and Barney in the overall (oversuit
i’m sorry that the window is closed now forever, maggie looked kind a cute… *g*
go get it energized !!! so awesome!!!
hehe, got up early this morning so i could watch it already while breakfest as we are 6 hours in front here in germany
Purple Giraffe | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 04:47 am GMT -4
Just watched this episode for the second time and it is completely lovely. It is classic HIMYM and while I haven’t totally hated this season so far like a lot of people, it was totally refreshing to have an episode that centered on Ted’s love life and it made me really excited for the 100th episode next month. It seems that with Ted-centric episodes everyone is at their best, most loveable selves. And I LOVED Marshall in this episode (like I usually do.) He seems to be completely back to normal and hilarious! Love this show!
High Hoper | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 05:18 am GMT -4
Meh.
Not good, not bad. Robin’s definitely a slut, and it’s maybe the first episode in a long time that I don’t hate Lily.
The ending ruined the episode, really. The thing with adam was LAME. So LAME. (I mean LAME, nothing related to marshall and lily)
Second character they get for a whole episode and waste it without really using well, as happened in the playbook.
My god, this season is a nightmare.
Thomas | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 08:28 am GMT -4
Great episode. Had all the ingredients of HIMYM at its best. Even if the show has been hit and miss so far in season five it is episodes like this that show why it is such a quality sitcom worth investing your time in.
While I enjoyed all the plots it is Ted’s story that was my highlight again this season. I hope they continue from this form here on out.
rachel | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 10:10 am GMT -4
i liked the part when ted teaches.. but though the maggie chase and robin selling her self out.. a bit cheap..
lets hope ted continues the mother search next week!
Toby | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 10:20 am GMT -4
I liked the episode a lot, but I do agree that Robin was acting weird and seemed to have gotten really slutty and not funny.
Jazzer | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 10:44 am GMT -4
THIS EPISODE IS PHENOMENAL!!!!!
HiRRRse | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 10:45 am GMT -4
i agree with high hoper. this episode was just average.
robin was really weird which is sad because she is usually so cool.
watching this episode made me wondering why Barney never tried to sleep with one of Teds students.
Also Ted hasnt had a girlfriend for a long time.
Michl | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 11:00 am GMT -4
remembering the title of next weeks episode, there is only one thing to say, Lily will tell the crowd that she is pregant.
why on earth they will they have the last cigarette ever ???
Jazzer | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 11:14 am GMT -4
C’mon, it’s like someone saying The playbook is bad. THIS EPISODE IS PHENOMENAL!!! It is the old HIMYM, and I really do mean the old HIMYM. Everything is back to normal. It’s like, the beginning of SE05 again, only in a better, better way.
Can’t wait for JD to post the review. It was funny, enoying, and had the old humor, and new stuff, jokes, and ideas. This is the way the show should go. Here’s t SE06 getting picked up.
Sara | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 12:12 pm GMT -4
I loved this episode. It was classic HIMYM. I only wish we had heard of Maggie in an earlier season, so that we had more of a background. She did seem to be a serial dater/relationship addict. Just because you attract a lot of guys, doesn’t mean you have to date them! But I’m glad she found her one at the end, and that Ted felt like finding his one again at the end too. I love these “personal growth” episodes. And NPH in the overalls was hilarious!
dolf | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 12:27 pm GMT -4
don’t like it. from the first minute where robin was like ‘what’s in the box’ it went on for 18 minutes of dry, forced humor.
Ranelle | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 01:24 pm GMT -4
I thought the episode was ok. Better than last week, but not old HIMYM.
Worst part: Robin. Her story line was forced… not funny… a little sad too. Robin used to be cool, right?
I liked the window idea and the overalls storyline. Marshall’s list has been done in countless sitcoms. I liked the parts in Ted’s classroom.
I just think ideas like the dunking thing, going after the old woman and everything Robin did fell flat. It is like they are running out of ideas.
Toby | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 02:10 pm GMT -4
I agree, it is weird that she has to date every guy she meets. She is probably one of those peeps that can’t be alone. I didn’t love the Maggie character because I am used to Johanna Garcia from Reba and this was a completely different personality type.
I liked how Ted referred to her story as the second best love story he ever heard. I hope that it lives up to the hype!
Toby | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 02:12 pm GMT -4
Sorry I need to make another comment because I forgot to click the email button so I am just going to reiterate that Robin has gotten bad. I have been rewatching episode one and I can so totally see the difference.
I am glad Lilly was back to her old self.
Jazzer | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 02:25 pm GMT -4
@Toby: Just because she was a dumb blonde in Reba, doesn’t mean she needs to be the same here. =]
Also, why are you guys bit***ing about Robin? That’s the way she is…. She isn’t a slut, she needed to be to get the guys attention.
Toby | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 02:28 pm GMT -4
I’m not saying she has to be a dumb blond, I am saying that I just was used to her that way so it was weird.
Ryan | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 02:32 pm GMT -4
this episode was great classic HIMYM!
Ryan | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 02:36 pm GMT -4
I agree with jazzer. Robin is cool, but she had to be a distraction for the sake of keeping Ted’s window open. It was simply funny to see at what lengths Robin would go to keep that co-worker away from Maggie.
Toby | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 02:38 pm GMT -4
That part didn’t bother me, but there was something about her personality which just seemed dumb
sydb | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 03:00 pm GMT -4
okay, i just have to write this because we are back to robin is a slut comments… oh well…
robin was GREAT!
she was very funny right from the beginning with the “whats in the box”. she was also good at ruining barney’s attempts of picking women up. and she was awesome trying to get that guys attention, i dont know if you people noticed it, but she was doing this FOR TED, out of desperation because she screwed up letting the guy approach maggie in the first place. i love the look on cobie’s face after she says “i just peed in my pants”.
i really like cobie, but up until this episode i was thinking that maybe she wasn’t as invested on the show as she was before, maybe it was the fact she was a new mum and all, but something was off, she wasn’t on fire like in the last season, but in this episode she brought it.
and it was a great episode, not the funniest, but there was this old himym feeling… i thought the magic was there. everybody had a lot to do… i was really into the story, which is something that wasn’t happening in the last few episodes.
best things on this episode
- I HATE BARNEY STINSON! – Me too!
- whats in the boooooox
- 15 year old marshall
- ted
- nph physical acting – barney throwing the strap of the overall over his shoulder
David | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 03:09 pm GMT -4
And the window is open again to HIMYM!!! HIMYM at its best. Keep it coming baby
Leigh | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 03:33 pm GMT -4
Ok, it’s irritating that people are saying that Robyn sucks and is a slut.
1. ‘What’s in the boooox’ was HILARIOUS – and totally realistic.
2. Robyn is a slut? She was acting so desperate with the guy because she had to keep him from Maggie, didn’t want to let Ted down, and had no idea what to do when he wasn’t falling for her usual moves. Anyone who had that much on the line would resort to desperate tactics…and her offering up second base to help a friend was ridiculous. And, the guy was hot.
I loved this episode. Great work, HIMYM.
Leigh | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 03:34 pm GMT -4
Sidebar – I just noticed that as the comments are processing, the script says ‘Wait for it….’ as it’s loading. I can’t imagine that you programmed that, JD, but it’s an incredibly amazing coincidence!
Fabio | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 04:25 pm GMT -4
AWESOME EPISODE….seems like we’re heading somewhere now…
-Robin felt kinda weird…don’t why, but whe bothered me a little bit
-I love Ted when he’s talking about how much he wants to find “the one” for him
-The what-i-should’ve-achieved-by-now is kind of a cliche but i think Marshall handles it pretty well
-Barney’s great as always in this episode… though i think it’s sad that he cannot be trusted with someone else’s woman..not even for Ted.
katie90 | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 04:44 pm GMT -4
i think a lot of the people who say this episode was totally awesome are still suffering from the last couple of episodes
yes, the episode was good, but to me nowhere near classic himym. it’s like this season so far has really lowered our expectations so we’ll celebrate any episode that doesn’t suck as one of the best ones ever (still agree that it was good, though)
oh – and also: totally hated the “what’s in the booooox”. when robin did that, i almost turned it off cause i thought this was gonna be like slapsgiving 2
Jazzer | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 05:04 pm GMT -4
People that never watched Seven, can not relate to the beginning, and that is not a con.
When do we get to see the last two dopplegangers? =D
@katie: Could be true, a bit. But you cannot say that his wasn’t at least 83% (yes, 83%) like the old HIMYM. Sure, Barney wasn’t at his fullest, but the ep got so many things right.
Toby | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 05:28 pm GMT -4
We’ll probably see the last 2 doppelgangers toward the end of the season.
I think that this show is never going to be as good as the beginning because that is the nature of television series. However, I think HIMYM is still going strong considering it is in the fifth season. My beef is really just surrounding the way that the Robin and Barney thing went down. The fact that I thought Robin was dumb wasn’t really a criticism, just an observation.
Just on a total random side note I re watched the sweet taste of liberty last week, and I am totally obsessed with the line “sometimes you have to grab life by the crack and lick the crap out of it” and with the line “you have been living your whole life in a seat belt; it’s time to unclick”
katie90 | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 06:00 pm GMT -4
ok, jazzer, just cause you put the awesomeness of 83% on the table i have to agree!
the doppelgangers will probably come later in the season. but what is up with this don fellow?! they put him in there as robin’s possible soulmate or whatever and then two episodes pass without a mere mention of him..
CourtneyE | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 06:16 pm GMT -4
I loved Robin in this episode! She was hilarious. “Oh and I’m the jerk.” Cobie hasn’t had a lot of chances to be awesome in this season (aside from Robin 101, which I will defend with my life) and she kicked so much ass. I think maybe some people didn’t get exactly why she was trying to get with that guy.
Toby | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 06:33 pm GMT -4
He is coming in the next episode, and I am sure he won’t end up being Robin’s soulmate
katie90 | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 06:58 pm GMT -4
don’t think so either, toby, but they sure wanted us to think that..
Toby | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 07:24 pm GMT -4
Of course; because they are evil. One thing that I have learned from this show is that things are never what they seem.
mayank | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 07:54 pm GMT -4
this episode is the best episode of the season…so so so great
“Oh & I’m the jerk”…LOL
Barney is just the show stealer plus Ted’s quest for the mother is back on track which is really nice to watch

Woah. I just rewatched “The Slutty Pumpkin,” and Robin says she never played any team sports. But she played hockey!
Toby | Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 10:26 pm GMT -4
That’s funny Aaron because last week I watched Sweet Taste of Liberty, and Marshal said he was never in a fight before, but in The Fight we learned that he used to fight with his brothers and he is crazy.
It is interesting to see their little inconsistancies while rewatching episodes.
Jenn- GCWOK Approved | Wednesday, December 9th, 2009 12:47 am GMT -4
Toby- I liked how you said, “Of course, because they are evil.” That made me laugh.
Katie- “i think a lot of the people who say this episode was totally awesome are still suffering from the last couple of episodes” said it PERFECTLY!
I forgot to say my favorite part was the “I hate Barney Stinson” and “Me, too!” That was probably the only time I laughed out loud. That part was funny.
I actually felt the same way about Maggie from watching her in Reba. I know it’s a different character, but it was such a long-lasting one that I knew so well that it was a little weird for me, too.
I didn’t feel like Robin was too weird. I’ve never actually really loved her character that much so it doesn’t bother me when she acts kind of “out there,” because the normal things she says sometimes seem a little out there! To me, anyway. Although I thought she was perfect for Barney.
Jenn- GCWOK Approved | Wednesday, December 9th, 2009 12:49 am GMT -4
Oh my gosh I just saw the plot for the 102nd episode “Perfect Week” and it sounds hilarious. And very typical HIMYM.
Hannah | Wednesday, December 9th, 2009 01:43 am GMT -4
Jenn – gcwok Where did you find the plot?
Jenn- GCWOK Approved | Wednesday, December 9th, 2009 03:01 am GMT -4
Just on wikipedia.
Hans Christian | Wednesday, December 9th, 2009 03:38 am GMT -4
3 of the next 4 episodes looks very good to me and the 4th don’t have a plot on wikipedia left, so it seems to me that season 5 is starting to pick up the pace. The Window was a very good episode and to me it seems like HIMYM is on it’s way back to it’s former self. This episode was a very good one compared to the rest of season 5 (so far), and still a good episode compared to the first 4 seasons.
Toby | Wednesday, December 9th, 2009 11:03 am GMT -4
Jenn, I read the Wikipedia thing and that episode you mentioned (I think it was 14) sounds good. But to be honest I am getting bored with the Barney Womanizing aspect, and I am annoyed that they brought that back full force.
I CAN”T WAIT (for it…. )the 100th episode. I love NPH and love to hear him sing! There is actually a clip on You Tube which I am sure many of you have seen. It is the cast on the short lived Meghan mallaley show, and Jason and Neil are signing the confrontation song toe LEs Miserables. It was so good!!!
I rewatched this week’s episode, and I really liked it. It definitely felt up there with the original episodes.
JD | Wednesday, December 9th, 2009 12:38 pm GMT -4

The song is by “Snow” (Canada’s version of Vanilla Ice) and the track is called “Informer”. Hope this helps

Got hooked. Anyway, glad JD enjoyed it! About tgo watch it again.
kay vee | Wednesday, December 9th, 2009 05:48 pm GMT -4
The episode was better than the past couple weeks, although Slapsgiving was pretty good. I want Ted to find The Mother so badly!
The song playing during Maggie’s scene at the end is “Two Weeks” by the Grizzly Bears, and I’ve been listening to is nonstop since Monday night!

On Top of the good Episode -> Charlene Amoia is back, think JD will like that

Man, whoever brought up the 83% made me realize that “challenge accepted” is the new 83%! true story, it’s gonna be a thing.
Man, great episode, loved everything about it, nothing new to mention by this point, just glad to see Ted Back on “the hunt”. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I spent a solid portion of the episode checking out all the students in his class. no one there is mother worthy, so it has to be one of the random girls from that Econ class He accidentally taught for 1/2 hour, that must have had 5x the students! Very tricky Carter and Bays, Very Tricky….
katie90 | Thursday, December 10th, 2009 09:40 am GMT -4
oh and toby, off-topic but: what did you think of glee?
no cliffhanger, i told you.. it’s gonna be hard to bring all those viewers back come april.. but i totally loved it and cannot wait for the dvds

83% is legendary. I use it every day, when I say a percentage I always use 83%. So many of Barye things transffered to my life.
katie90 | Thursday, December 10th, 2009 10:15 am GMT -4
jazzer, not only barney is a total source of quotable stuff. yes, i use 83% and “challenge accepted” (just did so yesterday, haha) but i also say “texty text” and “lawyered” all the time

Thanks dude a lot….
BTW the song is actually pretty cool and i “lickey boom boom down” LOL

I got hooked on the song, completely.
As for the quotes, yeah, hey became a part of my life too. =D Even though I stopped using Lawyered since my friends get the “weird look”. And I do say Legendary about 20 times a day. xD
Gonna watch the first seasons when I get more time. That would be my… Fifth time. =]
Toby | Thursday, December 10th, 2009 01:00 pm GMT -4
Sorry for being stupid, but what is 83%?
I use “you must bump this” quite often.
Jenn- GCWOK Approved | Thursday, December 10th, 2009 01:07 pm GMT -4
I believe it’s the statistic that Barney always uses when he makes something up.
katie90 | Thursday, December 10th, 2009 01:08 pm GMT -4
ted one time tells barney something like “did you know that whenever you make up a statistic, you use 83%” and then when you go and rewatch all the seasons.. he does
constantly. he says 83% of marriages break up, he says he’s got 83% of his sight left (when playing blind to get a girl to hook up with him), he says he’s 83 (when in old man make up in “intervention”) and the list goes on and on. it’s pretty awesome, one of those cool continuity things that the writers have down – most of the time (we all know they sometimes screw up)
Toby | Thursday, December 10th, 2009 01:38 pm GMT -4
oh cool. I must have forgotten about that. I am rewatching the show now on lifetime so I will pay attention to that.

this episode is definitly a turn point, where ted is ready again for searching “the real thing”. the highlight for me was “i hate barney stinson -ME TOO!!!”
after watching season 1 again, i suddenly notice a great difference between this season and the first one.
in every episode in season 1 you can see the main plot making progress, one time the series had to have a “previously on how i met your mother”.
i really want that back (BTW “game night”‘s ending was awesome. this is what i like about HIMYM)
seasons 4-5, and even 3, feels like “filler episodes”, with no real plot and stories.
what was the last time barney said “suit up” or “legendary”? what was the last time we had a “haaave you met ted”?
and as much as i love robin’s current expressions and laughter, i really want the old robin back. the confident, much hotter robin, with the funny news reports, and her more (a little bit more) sophisticated humor:
Barney: What does Carlos have that I don’t?
Robin: A date tonight?
Lily: Ooh, stop the tape, rewind, play it again!
Robin: [makes rewind sound] A date tonight?
and of course LAME. marshall IS funny, and even though alot don’t like her, she’s pretty awesome. but they are boring. they always used to act like an old couple, but this last two seasons they just took it too far.
what about GNB, or marshall plans to start working for the enviroment. what’s with lily’s dreams to become an artist (i know she gave, yet they still can do something with it), what about a baby, marshall’s family?
i want to see some new adventures (i’m sorry, but the thing with the pizza place was a pathetic try), new barney laws, new experiences. all these things got lost between all the flashbacks, references to the old jokes and old laws and what not. it’s nice and consistant, but.. come on!

the episode was okay. I liked it, but it’s nothing like season 2 or 3, which for me were the best. and FINALLY they showed Ted teaching a class! season 5 was supposed to be about ted becoming a teacher but we haven’t seen any of it yet!
and good to see barney back to his usual self. that was funny.

i respect, but i dont get people who prefer season 1 robin. i love robin/cobie but whenever i re-watch the first season, i can see how she was clearly the weaker link. back then cobie had no experience in comedy – i say that based on her curriculum – and its often evident how her timing was a bit off.
she’s pretty, so you can understand why ted would be smitten with her, but back then she wasn’t such a good actress. so you might think she was cool, but you would hardly laught at-with her.
but she gradually got better, actually, she got incredibly better, imo she is way better than hannigan now. by season 3 she was nailing every scene they gave her… and not only the funny ones, she was great in the emotional scenes – like when she was crying when simon dumped her for the 2nd time. and by season 4 she was on fire. by season 4 cobie finally found her rhythm, and since then i only have love for robin.
so yeah, i dont get this season 1 love, i always thought she was kinda boring in season 1. the only episode in which she shines is zip, zip, zip, where she teams with barney and we see how much they have in common.

I think the creators were in the episode as some of the boyfriends — the mailman and the one in the blue sweater. Am I right?

KAtie, I just saw your posting. I am sorry that it took so long to respond.
I LOVED Glee. One of my favorite songs is My Life Would Suck Without You, and I loved how much energy they had when they performed at sectionals.
I am not worried so much about people watching GLee again in APril. SO many people tat I know love it. Plus with DVR and Hulu I don’t think it being up against Lost is going to be an issue.
What do you mean no cliffhanger? Ummm did you see the last 5 seconds of it!
Did you like it?
@SydB I totally hear what you were saying but Robin hasn’t been doing it for me so much this season. Although I think she kicked butt in Definitions, Robin 101, and Bagpipes. But since she and Barney broke up she has been kind of blah

Toby: Yes, I saw it…but wouldn’t consider it a cliffhanger but a happy ending
Or do you think Will only imagined that as a possible outcome to running after Emma? I loved the episode and am in love with the whole show..I’m constantly listening to the two Glee soundtracks that have come out so far
sydb: i get what you’re saying but don’t see things the same way. yes, robin has changed. but in my opinion, she was exactly what you called her in season one – she was cool. i like himym better when it didn’t go for the high “joke per minute-rate”. robin was awesome, she was chilled and genuinely a cool girl that i could see ted falling for (helloo, she went to the lusty leopard for thanksgiving
loved that). i don’t necessarily think characters are better or funnier when they start making more jokes. anybody get what i’m saying?! can’t seem to find the right words

I don’t think Glee needs a cliffhanger to bring back viewers next season. Who wouldn’t want to keep watching? The only problem I with Glee that I can’t stop worrying about is, uh, the kids are going to graduate! I bet they’re going to decide they were all juniors and do another year with them…. but I don’t see a way to keep the same cast for very many seasons and I wonder what that will do with viewers. Also…. daaaang that Mercedes can sing!!

Katie and Jenn, we totally need a Glee forum to chat on!
Emma and Shu kissing as totally a cliffhanger. We have no idea what is going to happen, but it won’t be a happily ever after.
Jenn is right, people here LOVE Glee and everyone I know is upset because it isn’t coming back until April. We also want to see what happens at Regionals and we have a MAdonna music episode to look forward to. I also wonder what is going to happen when they graduate.
KAtie, I listen to the music all the time. I Love it!! I think that You Can’t Always Get What You Want was the perfect song for Finn’s voice so that made me happy, and they way they used MY Life Would Suck Without You was AWESOME!!!!
