What Will Happen in the End of Season 4
I try to stay spoiler free but that doesn’t mean we can’t get excited about what’s to come. I did a little digging and found a (somewhat) comprehensive list of what we can expect for the remainder of this season.
Episodes
This Monday will be a repeat and then new episodes straight through to the end. While sources disagree, the rest of the episodes are more or less going to be:
- Right Time, Right Place – Airing April 27th
- The Three Days Rule – Airing May 4th
- As Fast as She Can – Airing May 11th
- The Leap (Finale) – Airing May 18th
There is some disagreement over whether Right Time, Right Place or The Three Days Rule will air on April 27th. If this list is correct, the season will finish off with 24 episodes.
Plotlines
There are a few rumors and some confirmed details. Here’s what I know:
- Stuart and Claudia are supposed to reappear before the end of the season.
- I am pretty sure of a certain gag that’ll come up in one of the episodes and I can tell you it’s pretty damn funny (and special to me.) More on that later.
- As I reported from my talk with Carter Bays, the finale will directly address the BRo Love subplot. Considering the episode title, I think it’s clear what will happen.
- While on the topic of episode titles, “The Three Days Rule” suggests that someone (probably Ted) will meet a girl and get a number, thus necessitating the requisite “wait three days before calling” rule.
- Some casting news corroborates that theory. Actress Rebecca Budig has been cast as Holly, a potential love interest for Ted.
- The finale not only shows us the climax of BRo but also features the goat (both a live one and an animatronic) and, as Bays promised, “directly addresses the show’s title”. Could Budig play into this? What do you guys think?
There are some other details out there concerning specific plotlines but what I have above is as far into “spoilers” as I want to go.
What are you guys most excited to see at the end of this season? BRo Love culminate? A potential new mother? The Goat?

Can someone please tell me is this the real show finale? I mean, i love the show and i wish that theres an actual season 5. I mean mostly the biggest laugh at a day i get from a HIMYM episode. = Hopefully this won't be the last 4 eps.

HIMYM has not been officially been picked up. Though, based on ratings, syndication deals and new cast contracts, everyone on the show is very confident that the show is going to be picked up for next season. Unless there are a large number of kick ass comedy pilots HIMYM will probably be picked up.

Even though HIMYM has not officially been picked up yet, CBS has already asked for some scripts for next season and the writers have talked about next season in interviews. I guess anything could happen, but I think it's a pretty safe bet there will be a season 5.

I honestly can't say what I'm more excited for.
The last 4-5 episodes of the last three season have been unreal, and by the sounds of it, this could be the best stretch of episodes yet.

A little off topic, but has anybody noticed from Season 1 the episode entitled Belly Full of Turkey, the name of the mother may have been hinted at. Although it is VERY skeptical, ted is in the strip club and while he is at the buffet, a stripper comes up to him and says her name is amber. ted says im ted..she says actually im tracy. he replies with im still ted. then he says to his children, "and that is the story of how i met your mother" as a joke. However, doesn't it make sense that he would include the REAL name of the mother ("tracy")…otherwise the kids wouldn't believe him. Obviously they know their own mother's name…

This is a common theory. While you have a point I think it was played out like that just for the joke.
There's a good chance who they thought the mother was then has changed, maybe several times. Each new season they could conceivably change the final outcome.

Now having watched many times the last episode, I think that there will be a phenomenal end of season. I really (high) hope it.
Maybe we know some things about the mother even before the season finale!
Stuart and Claudia, again? AWESOME!
Hope one day they can write Felicia Day on the story, even if she is or isn't the mother it would be beautiful to me. You can't avoid falling in love with her after watching dr. horrible.

I read other forums where they are all talking about the season finale, and theyre all referring to "BAR". like "yea I defin think they will show something about the BAR". and i dont kno what theyre talking about…can sombody tell?
anyway now that they have confirmed (so far)that the finale episode will be called The Leap , it will be about that Marshall's "I CAN JUMP THAT FAR" thing, not to mention BRo love story.;;

Yeah I have a feeling that the Flash to Marshall's "I can jump that far…" and Ted's "I can win her back" statements will be in the finale (Ted's may be sooner)

Tomorrow's repeat episode is Shelter Island, so CBS is reminding us of Stella, before the remainder of the season is showed, so i'll assume it's Stella

Guys .. i might sound a bit out of the "league", but dont you that this is now being stretched beyond any imagination !!.
I hope the plot writers are listening .. i understand the new seasons & stuffs … but then honestly , now a days the curiosity levels have gone down for sure .
Hope all will agree (even me) that season 1 & 2 was when the show peaked …. "AWESOME".
However ever since … it becomes very apparent that the show makers simply want to EXTEND the series indefinitely .. I know i love all the awesomeness in barney & all .. but then … i firmly believe the show needs to end in its true glory and with all dignity …….

I'm very excited about the BRo love story subplot… I don't think I've ever been so invested in a fictional couple before.
I do hope they get together at the season finale and they don't torture us all summer with a cliffhanger making us think Robin rejected Barney or something… I hope they truly do take "the leap" (if the episode title refers to them).
Also, it would be nice to see Ted manuever his way closer to "the mother", whoever she is.

I'd love to get to know a little bit more about the Mother (which we havent heard latelly) but what I`m really dying to see is the goat!
Duuuude, that was the best joke from last season! (Ok, we had slapsgiving, but come on, final scene of the goat episode was freaking awesome!)

That's why I didn't write it the first time, usually people does not want to know about what's gonna happen. Just commented how impressed I was about this kind of spoiler, nothing else.
Waiting for the next episode, I think we'll be given the best in the last part of the season!

Are we still talking about the Tracy Theory? Obviously, we know that Bob Saget leaves info out of the stories he tells the kids, AND Saget never says the name Tracy. So her name doesn't have to be Tracy.
The most likely candidate that we've already seen is still the "Bump Girl", from the episode "No Tomorrow".
