Yahoo is Wrong, Stella is Not the Mother
Yahoo TV’s annoying t-shirt wearing guy-on-a-couch is reporting today that we met the mother last night. Not so. I’m surprised at this lazy reporting.
We already know Stella isn’t the mother. Remember when we cut to future Ted talking to different, blonde kids and Stella came in? That alternate reality proves that Stella does not go on to become the mom.
Her presence last night, as many readers here have guessed, will surely lead Ted to meeting the mother. Has four seasons of this show not taught us anything? This is the story of how Ted came to met the mother, which involves a lot more than just “Have You Met Ted?”.

This was actually on the Yahoo home page as well under featured articles (under the link, it specifically says " "How I Met" reveals the mother", and has since moved to the entertainment tab on the front page). This is going to confuse a lot of people who don't know about great sites such as this one…very frustrating.

yeah, very misleading… it's more likely Robin will be the mom than Stella will… and i do you think the yellow umbrella was a tease or is it really linked to stella and the mom?
Jen | May 5, 2009 @ 7:18 pm
Oh my god it is driving me crazy. Even radio hosts (Alice FM in San Francisco's Vinnie) was flipping out saying "They told us who the mother was!!" and then proceeded to say how much he didn't really watch the show. Meanwhile a slew of callers couldn't be put through (probably to explain how false he was) because of time. Argh!

stella is not the mom, if you remember
S03 GOAT EPISODE episode, lily mentions about stella over the phone to barney, and then refers to the goat, so goat happened on ted's 31st b'day so stella was also there on ted's 31st b'day, and barney and robin are going to hook up again………

Somewhat spoilerish:
For those following the Tracy theory; there is a guest star lined up to play a character "Tracey" for the season finale with Ted's birthday party. Could Stella be bringing her friend Tracey whom she went out with on St. Patrick's day 2008 to Ted's 31st birthday party?
Jen | May 5, 2009 @ 8:46 pm
It is totally going to be one of her friends, and no doubt we've seen her during the St Pats ep.

I am so glad you mentioned that. The plot spoilers for that episode don't involve Ted with any women, but do have one for Barney.

This just makes me hate that guy even more. He was the host of Street Smarts, that game show where you had to pick how other people on the street answered quiz questions. Reeked of behind the scenes manipulation, like Jay Leno's Jaywalking bit.

I don't think we can completely count Stella out. When they had the fake flashforward with the blonde kids, that would have been if he had married Stella THEN, rather than being alone longer. I don't remember him specifically saying that he never married Stella or that she was not the mother. I know my mother always say that if things had happened differently (i.e. if she had gotten pregnant sooner) I wouldn't be here.

I think these people are watching a different show then I am.
Stella is so NOT the mom.
Ted says last week, when I met your MOM I called her right away. I did not wait.
Uh…did not happen with Stella.
I think why Stella is back is to give Ted the closure he never got and now he can really move on…hence Stella will "help" him in a way.
ps..I really hope one of Stella's friends is not the mother.

Request for JD:
I know you've got connections within the show.. on season 3 DVD commentary (it was either platinum rule or 10 sessions) they said that most shows start out being 45 minutes long but then have to be cut down to meet tv restraints. His example was when Lily said she would stop biting her nails and then showed her with long nails. They said there was a whole sequence where the gang called her Wolverine because of her nails.
If you asked me, that seems like a pretty good sub plot, and I know there has to be a lot of these that they cut out in every episode.
In short, my question is why don't we get deleted scenes on the DVDs? There's so much extra material they could include for fans yet they don't. The next time you get to do an interview or make a phone call or however it works, could you please submit the question for us fans?
Thanks,

I don't think that's necessarily true. I somewhat doubt Carter and Bays had decided who they wanted to play the mother when they filmed teh St. Pats episode. Although .. it would be pretty awesome if they did!
Zarah | May 5, 2009 @ 11:12 pm
Ooh, maybe the mother is Abby (Britney Spears)! hahahaha
JustinDickinson | May 6, 2009 @ 12:26 am
I think they're referring to the script stage for the '45 minutes' line. They look at the script they've written and have 45 minutes of material which then gets cut. I doubt they'd be filming twice as much footage as they need each week, that doesn't sound very efficient.
If I get the chance, I'll definitely ask however.

Stella is, ofcourse, not the mother. It embarrassing for Yahoo to even suggest it. That's why everyone else uses Google.
I once read that Robin has something to do with Ted meeting his wife. However there seems like a lot of possibilities for both Stella and Robin having the honours of doing so. I'm kind of a believer of the "Tracey Theory", and with a Tracey being cast in "The Leap" I have to believe this is it, but who knows.
This show is absolutely unreal

Haha. I love you for that comment… LoL. Google is better
Amy | May 6, 2009 @ 3:46 am
Hah. I love Google, hate Yahoo.
Your comment made my night

Something i didnt see mentioned above, Stella has a kid already. So would adult Ted leave her kid out of the storytelling, or are we to assume that one of those kids they showed was hers. I dont think so, it can definately not be stella.

It's not going to be Stella. Next season is probably going to have Ted persuing this girl they are probably going to show us on the Season Finale. They'll show her face for a second and then BAM we wait until next season ha. Maybe Stella is there for the breakup sex that Barney WILL influence Ted to do in order to move on and better his life. haha

EW's Michael Ausiello has a bit of dirt on this –
"Exec producer Carter Bays isn't saying either way, but A Mother insider tells me that she is not the mom. Still, it looks like Chalke will be sticking around next season — in some capacity. "We haven't talked to her or her people about it yet, but there's something very exciting about next season [involving Stella] that will sort of be alluded to in next week's episode," teases Bays. "We're excited to see how it'll play out next season." Speaking of Monday's ep, Bays says it ranks among the show's best. "It's a real good, classic How I Met Your Mother," he declares. "There are a few episodes of this show that, when we were shooting it, felt like an old movie. You just want to put it in black and white. Next week's episode felt like one of those."

Hi, courteous clause, you staked nevertheless if you don’t mind I’d lend few notices about approaching young women or guys. Especially it can be serious when it gets to man woman relationships. The significant matter is your posture, which should be strong and open. If you have an position like that, any soul shouldn’t experience any difficulties that you have speaking as expressing. When you get a conversation, you usually desire to demand safe doubts that are confident not to cause her any discomfort. Once the conversation gets some momentum, you can ask more physical queries. A good fox is to memorise some questions she made a point of so whenever the conversation slows down, you can evoke one of these questions.
