I liked it!! Barney was hilarious and so was Ted’s blonde hair. I thought there should have been more of a cliff-hanger but there were some short ones throughout the episode. Still not the same old himym but still good!

  2.  Jacob | May 24, 2010 @ 9:15 pm

I loved it. Definitely one of the better episodes this season, but it felt kind of out of place. No major cliffhanger that will make you wonder what is going to happen next.

I’m kinda disappointed that we didn’t get to see Barney’s doppelganger, so I hope they get back to that later.

Ted’s blonde hair = Awesome. I pull this off!

  3.  Katie | May 24, 2010 @ 9:54 pm

    Oh my god
this season has sucked pretty much, but this episode was the best of ALL THE EPISODES.

    -cough-
i love this episode so much
    /goes to watch it again

ALSO, IS IT JUST ME, OR DOES TED LOOK *HOT* IN BLOND?!

  4.  Your Pen Is enormous! | May 24, 2010 @ 10:13 pm

What A Great Episode! Is it Just me, or did just the fact that Barney had a roll down map in the cab, and a quick pout about the blog seem to be a sign of the Barney of Old that we all love?

Also, I was so close to rolling my eyes at the end scene, thinking oh great, this again, and then never thought we’d get that ending when the hat came off. Once again, simple plot developed, thinking it was a sub plot in the beginning, and then wham, all tied together. While I don’t think I ever posted saying that the show should be cancelled, This should answer for EVERYONE that the writers still know what they’re doing. What a great episode. And as well, How awesome was it how they handled the doppleganger idea, given the prevalent spoilers rampant on the net?

Oh, and PS, with the comment’s on last weeks wedding bride about rehashing, I couldn’t help but compare to other shows that mail in an episode with stock footage and “remember when” scenarios. What they did last ep was a way of doing that without getting stuck using too much stock footage.

    Favorite moments

“Guy’s, we have a small window of time to pull this off, follow my lead”

“I’m getting a lot of compliments, tell him.”
    “He’s not getting any compliments”

“Don’t you guys read my blog?! it’s getting better! :(

    “What’s Ellen Degeneres doing here?”

Only major disapointment? Not having a follow up to the Canadian Variety show with Alan Thicke and Robin.

  5.  John Darc | May 24, 2010 @ 10:27 pm

Shockingly decent, and if you aren’t expecting a WHAM episode, pretty good as a finale.

  6.  Z | May 24, 2010 @ 10:52 pm

this finale was straight up classic himym, in my opinion, and i always have high expectations for the finale.

  7.  Ranelle | May 24, 2010 @ 11:05 pm

Jacob: yes!! I like ted’s blonde hair.. Especially when it was done up sorta spiky like Edward Cullen/Robert Pattinson’s hair lol

  8.  Gisella | May 24, 2010 @ 11:09 pm

    legendary is back!

  9.  How I Met Your Face! | May 24, 2010 @ 11:16 pm

@ Your Pen is Enormous! Correction – Craig Thomas and Carter Bays know what they’re doing. If you look on Wikipedia to see which writers worked on the individual episodes, you’ll notice a pattern and probably why certain episodes were better than others, it depends greatly on who was writing it.

Overall this episode was really good. They went back to successfully using a storyline with interesting side quests. That being said, this episode was still not “Season Finale” material. While it was a really good episode in itself, it proved that most of Season 5 was pretty pointless. Now I certainly do not think that Thomas and Bays are out of ideas. I think they just wanted to experiment using different writers and different ideas, sit back, and watch what happened. Hopefully they learned from what worked and didn’t work. Season 6, get us back on track!

I enjoyed seeing the old Barney back to his old tricks. I enjoyed seeing Lilie and Marshall have a descent side quest. I’m also happy they got rid of Don. While he wasn’t a bad actor by no means, I think the writers realized he was pretty pointless, they simply didn’t know what to do with him. I’m also glad they didn’t go back to the whole Robin & Ted scenario. I’m a little disappointed that there was no cliffhanger, but they Season Finale did end on a hopeful note.

  10.  Z | May 24, 2010 @ 11:16 pm

@your pen: so you’re saying that “the wedding bride” was essentially a clip show, without the clips? thats an interesting way to look at it. and as for all the complaints about the wedding bride movie being too over the top, i kinda thought that was the point. we aren’t seeing the actual movie, we’re seeing the movie from ted’s point of view, which is obviously going to be exagerated

  11.  Buxton | May 24, 2010 @ 11:16 pm

Damn I was hoping a GCWOK would come up to Ted to tell him he pulled it off.

But yes, best episode of the season. Nothing outrageous just true.

    True story.

  12.  Ari | May 24, 2010 @ 11:38 pm

Okay I’m amazed that everyone here loves this episode because, well, maybe I wasn’t paying enough attention to it, but I wasn’t that impressed. I’ll need to rewatch it now. I guess I just expected more out of a finale. Grey’s Anatomy was shocking, I couldn’t tear my eyes away for 2 hours, my twitter feed was busy from everyone watching Lost and I was still waiting for something significant to happen. Yes, Lily and Marshall was significant, but I guess I mean for Ted.

I will say that I’m glad they didn’t go where they almost went with Ted and Robin. I was about to yell really loud for a second.

Here’s hoping next season gets better.

Oh and btw JD… I came to this site a while back because the HIMYM blog I used to follow went under. So you better not call it quit on me cuz I have no clue where I’d go to get recaps!

  13.  LaMe4eVr | May 24, 2010 @ 11:55 pm

Loved this episode! It was classic HIMYM and made me joyful and even left me teary-eyed in the end. I loved that Barney’s doppleganger wasn’t revealed because it wouldn’t have left enough left! 1 slap! 1 doppleganger! I like having things to look forward to! I’m kinda glad Don took the job… I pretty much saw that coming, but you know what? I kinda think Robin needed HER heart broken for once. I was literally shouting out loud when Robin and Ted almost kissed. I do NOT want that again, sheesh! So glad they didn’t! Anyway, I could go on and on, but I felt it was a really good episode and I was pleased!

Favorite moments: I loved the secret convo between the gang “tricking” Ted into dying his hair blonde. SO great. Also, Barney!! Heeeee’s baaaack! Also the beginning when they all “popped” in on Lily and Marshall and then when they REALLY did it. =)

The overall message of the episode was just great, IMO. The fact that we can’t see what we’re meant to see until we’re ready to see it. And Lily at the end with the “doppleganger” that was so obviously NOT Barney was just adorable! Glad they ended on a classic HIMYM finale note. Now we all just have to wait for SSN 5 on dvd and hopefully a MUCH better season 6. =D

  14.  musicfan | May 25, 2010 @ 12:13 am

I agree, this was the best episode of the season. I have been disappointed all year long, but this one was good. I hope next season is better. I want the writers to give us more clues about the mother in each episode no matter how small they might be. I’m ready for it to move forward a bit faster, but if each episode was as good as this finale, then I would enjoy the journey a little more.

  15.  Your Pen Is enormous! | May 25, 2010 @ 12:38 am

I would imagine this is right on track. They’re pretty faithful for keeping “real time” during the summer, so I would wager a guess that September starts with a “So Lily Got Pregnant” style catch up, and Ep 1 beginning with her somewhere in her first trimester (filling in the momentous stuff with classic HIMYM style flashbacks). All of the really great seasons have had Marshal and Lily as a constant side story throughout the season. Season 6 will end with a baby. Season 7 will be stuff with said baby(ies??) Season 8, the mother.

I can see people looking back at Season 5 as “the weakest”.

Also think they need to “fire” Barney. He’s getting complacent, he needs more of an excuse to scheme. Being this Lothario pickup artist is great and funny with a high income job I’m guessing he has, I’d like to see him slum it for a few episodes and deal with some other stuff.

And Lastly, Ted has become incredibly interesting to watch, he’s really developed his own great style of mischief and humor completely unique from the rest of the characters.

  16.  bob | May 25, 2010 @ 1:00 am

    great ep!
any1 know the name of the song at the end of the ep?

  17.  Reginald | May 25, 2010 @ 1:23 am

It has been a difficult season for the fans. There were more lows than high and then, there were some excruciating moments. But I am glad that the season that flattered to deceive is finally over. I threatened to give up on the show many times, but I did not and I’m happy I stuck it out because every season is a fresh start and with every fresh start, there is hope. There is more to forget than to remember, but here, in my opinion, are the 5 best and 5 most painful epidoes from season 5:

    The best episodes

All of these were characterized by creative plot ideas, top-notch acting, and charming guest stars

    #5 Robots vs. Wrestlers
    #4 Sexless Innkeeper/Doppleganger
    #3 The Playbook
    #2 Definitions
    #1 Double Date

Honorable mention- Last Cigarette Ever for a memorable last scene on the roof.

    The most painful

All of them had the common elements of aiming for cheap laughs, being too sitcomy and some awkward character development (or lack of thereof):

    #5 The Wedding Bride
    #4 Zoo or False
    #3 The Rough Patch
    #2 Slapsgiving 2
    #1 Dual Citizenship

  18.  danny | May 25, 2010 @ 1:31 am

@ i couldn’t agree more with your list man.. the wedding bride makes me sick inside.. lol

and speaking bout the finale, i love it.. its a great episode compared to most of season 5′s and a good episode for a finale

  19.  jons | May 25, 2010 @ 2:32 am

good ep guys! the thing that i didn’t notice passing the 20min at all, is the sing of a good episode….anyway, i wish you all a good summer, hard work, or good holiday, i’ll see you guys in september…a hopefuly is gonna be legend……..wait for it

    see yaa all ;)

  20.  dan | May 25, 2010 @ 2:33 am

@ Your Pen is Enormous! Season 6, get us back on track!

don’t wanna be the buzz kill or anything, but the episode felt like a normal episode, no cliffhangers, i mean, yeah, marshall and lily will start looking for a baby, but that was expected. nothing on the mother front, however.
i don’t know what other way to say it other than is didn’t feel like a season finale, if anything i felt it more like a season premiere. only thing new with robin is the breakup with don. new thing with ted was the insignificant blonde hair, barney had nothing other than the fact that he’s opening up to kids, and marshall and lily have the whole “let’s start looking for a baby”

as a longtime fan of the show, this season was a dissapointment. that being said, i think the cast did a great job with what they had, and i appreciated some of the old time character winks, like tonight’s barney. HE FINALLY SAID LEGENDARY again and TALKED ABOUT HIS BLOG! other than that, i have nothing good to say about this season, except for a very few episodes.

The best episodes (in my opinion)

    5. Dual Citizenship
    4. Jenkins
    3. The Playbook
    2. Robin 101
    1. Girls vs. Suits

The worst episodes (again, in my opinion)

    5. Definitions
    4. Dopplegangers
    3. Slapsgiving 2: Revenge Of The Slap
    2. Robots vs Wrestlers
    1. The Wedding Bride (i had such high hopes for this episode :( )

  21.  Nina | May 25, 2010 @ 2:35 am

    @ bob
The song at the end of the episode is called ‘Lifesize’ by A Fine Frenzy

  22.  High Hoper | May 25, 2010 @ 3:40 am

Worst season finale ever in himym history.

About the episode: meh. The show has clearly lost its magic and now it’s another sitcom. In other times I really loved this show, but now it’s really lame. It’s sad, but it’s true. There are little diamonds in it, but the rest of the season sucked a lot, and you know it. Even the best episodes had some things that wouldn’t have appeared in previous seasons. And the worst of it, they’re gonna destroy (even more) the series if the mother does not show up next season. I started this season to think about quit watching, and I know now that I wouldn’t have missed a lot by not watching.

So… Whenever they can get a good story, they are afraid and take the easy exit (it’s a spanish expression, sorry if you don’t understand it). They could have a proper cliffhanger with robin and ted kissing (don’t want them as a couple), but the drama on 6×01 would have been good. Also, this season they could have worked on Lily and Marshall separated temporally about the kiss of Jenkins, but it seems that they can’t handle drama anymore. Only easy jokes. Am I right? What do you think about it?

My hopes for next season… Please, get the show in the bubble of renewal, himym script writers only do good work when they’re on the bubble. And please show the mother. I can’t understand how they don’t see that they are killing the show nowadays…

  23.  High Hoper | May 25, 2010 @ 3:43 am

And… the don story ends here. What a bluff. They cannot handle expectation. One more sign that this is going down fast.

They sold us the Don story as so important and now… that’s it? She moves with some guy that leaves for a job in Chicago? That’s it? Really? pffff

  24.  Butler BullDawg | May 25, 2010 @ 4:17 am

So, I havent seen the final yet, as I boarded a 6:25 flight from JFK and landed in Barcelona. However, my sister noticed a certain person sitting in first class. At baggage claim we double checked, and no, it wasn’t a doppelganger, but we had just flown with Josh Radnor!!!!! So then we took photos with him!!! Amazing start to my vacation. Now to download the final somewhere!

  25.  NCUK | May 25, 2010 @ 5:19 am

i have started to watch this whole season together and it is slightly better all together but i have stopped on episode 13, and usually i can’t stop until i’ve seen them all. We probably will all look back on this season as weak, but maybe we have become overly critical because this season hasn’t been great, i know i have anyway.
I fully agree with High Hoper about the drama – they just don’t take risks any more and the easy jokes at the expense of continuity (even) has really annoyed me. I would have loved to see something for ted at the season finally – even the robin thing because it would have least given me something to “NOOO” about to my friends. If they had given us a shot of the mother would it have saved the season? or would it just look like a desperate attempt at getting back to old himym, but somehow failing because we want that moment to be epic.

i have loved the increased singing this season, so that is a positive….and jenkins was pretty funny. so was “What’s Ellen Degeneres doing here?”
But what was seen in the finally is all the characters back to normal, barney seems to be back, m&l seem to have something to do. It is slightly strange that robin and even barney (!) have had more serious relationships that ted this year. if that doesn’t change asap this show has become pointless.

i really enjoyed the season finale, i thought it was the perfect end to a mediocre season.

  26.  Fabio | May 25, 2010 @ 7:36 am

    @High Hoper

i said from the start i didnt think Don was the one for Robin… old ted called him Don…. and not “uncle Don” or something like that…. However, u have to agree that he was indeed a great part of robin’s life. As blonde ted said, it was the first time she took love over her career. Something great if we think of old Robin.

As for the ted & robin kiss, did you really wanna see that happening? no way… and i liked how they handled it!

    @Katie(90)??

So glad to see you of all people are among the ones who liked this finale. I’ve been commenting here for quite a while and you seem one of the most critic (but reasonable) fans…

I too loved it, but i thought they kinda went another direction…. there’s nothing hanging…waiting to be solved in the next season (aside from the mother thing lol)…

Well, anyways, anyone knows the name of the song in the very end? thanks :)

    c ya!!

  27.  Rainy | May 25, 2010 @ 8:40 am

It’s not the kind of last episode I thought I’ll see, but it’s way better! Ted blonde hair was AMAZING! & Barney acting as his own ‘doppelgangers’ show us the side he often hide. I was sad for Robin in this episode. After what Robin has done for Don, I can’t believe he would disappoint her. I also love what Ted said about his blonde hair has stop them from making a big mistake, cause as much as I love them as a couple, I really admire them for being friends. And the ending, it’s just what makes us love the show. Can’t wait for Lily & Marshall to have a baby!!! :)

  28.  Nina | May 25, 2010 @ 9:05 am

I already said it, but the song at the end of the ep is called ‘Lifesize’ by A Fine Frenzy.

  29.  BGeo | May 25, 2010 @ 10:01 am

Although the episode’s ending didn’t feel like a himym season finale, I really enjoyed it. There were a lot of funny moments, and some heart felt moments as well.

Barney would act as his own doppelganger, but his motives for doing so represent both the old Barney and the new Barney, which goes to show just how much all of the characters have evolved since the pilot.

I agree with the above mentioned top 5 episodes of the season, but I am unsure about the bottom 5, because in both the good and bad episodes there was a lot of things i like and disliked.

Although I love the show to death, I am beginning to think that himym has run its course, and I would like to see the finale in season 6 (although I’m sure we won’t)

    Have a great summer everyone

  30.  BSMOOTH | May 25, 2010 @ 10:11 am

    @highhoper
Couldn’t disagree with you more. Thanks for putting up your opinions though, because it saves me a lot of typing. I feel exactly the opposite of you about this episode.

Cliffhangers are so predictable, thank you HIMYM for proving that they aren’t necessary to have an effective season finale. I love how this episode showcased the growth of each character. Marshall and Lily are having a baby, Barney was able to settle down and be in a serious relationship, and Robin was able to choose love over her career for the first time in her life. If you don’t see the amount of growth that this season has worked through with these characters, then maybe we’re not watching the same show.

No one is killing the show, in fact, if people think the show is being killed, I hate to say it, but the only person killing it is yourself. Everyone has the tendency to reminisce on the old days and say how they were far superior. You guys have built the show up so high in your minds, that you can’t help but feel let down. Let go of the massive expectations, and you might be able to enjoy the show the same way you did in season one. And if not, I hate to say it, but stop watching. No one is forcing you to watch, and hearing a broken record about how terrible the show is gets pretty repetitive after a while. The easiest way to end your disappointment is to turn off the tv, so please, feel free.

  31.  marggis | May 25, 2010 @ 10:40 am

I didn’t like this episode after first time watching it. It felt somehow too shattered, it didn’t have the atmosphere of a final episode.

To me the biggest problem was that “the fear of losing Robin” felt so old. They’ve been freaking out because of it and I’m personally tired of it. We all know that Robin is going to stay/come back pretty soon…

There were good moments too, but it was a weak episode to me.

    (Red head Barney is hot!)

  32.  BSM | May 25, 2010 @ 10:42 am

Just when i thought that that this series was a lost cause and was going down the drain, they revived it totally with an “Awesome” episode …. It had everything i expected from it … A perfect way to end a rather imperfect season ….

I just have one last word to say abt it “LEGENDARY” ….. :) :) :)

P.S – The best part was that Robin broke off with Don …. Hated that guy …

  33.  daddyissues | May 25, 2010 @ 11:09 am

Hahaha. For some strange reason when Marshall said the Baltics (which I translate to Estonia, Lativa, Lietuva) I had my hopes up about mentioning Estonia (cause i’m from there). Anyway, seeing Barney doppelganger from Estonia was a bit proud moment for me.

Unfortunately, our country is still just a dot on the map. The guys who invented Skype is usually definition for Estonia. But I have to just say, that our English is never as russianized as this were. Tho, we were in Soviet Union and nearly ~30% of our population speaks mainly Russian, we – estonians do not use russian accent while speaking English.

Thanks for reading it guys, great episode!

  34.  Nallen | May 25, 2010 @ 11:53 am

    Two things,

They did not drink scotch as they were supposed to and since when can barney drive?

  35.  Jay | May 25, 2010 @ 12:37 pm

Was that really the last episode???

  36.  Z | May 25, 2010 @ 12:40 pm

@nallen: they already showed the scotch drinking scene in a flash forward last season, so theres no reason to show it again. and barney has been able to drive for a while, there was an episode last season revolving around him trying to talk his way out of a ticket.

  37.  BGeo | May 25, 2010 @ 12:58 pm

Just watched the episode again. Liked it even more.

  38.  High Hoper | May 25, 2010 @ 1:25 pm

    @bsmooth

JD has always said that so completely different opinions are good for the blog, and I do not have any problem with it! :) I respect your opinion :)

  39.  saar | May 25, 2010 @ 3:45 pm

    OMG how didnt you noticed????
at the end of the episode, in the very last frame you can
clearly!!! see robin and ted going to kiss@!!@!

in the part with the hat i was happy because they didnt kiss but then i noticed that ending that sucks they are going to get back togheter..

    awesome episode buy the way!!

    “are you banging?”
haha when he pulls out the map :D

i think lesbian robin is better then mexican ted

not every finale has to focus in TED! marshall and lily are going to have a baby…freaking baby!?!?@ thats huge!!…and what?just because ted is not in a hospital again means it was bad?

season 6 is going to be awesome MARK MY WORDS

  40.  Trevormac98 | May 25, 2010 @ 3:51 pm

So I am missing something. What and when were they supposed to drink scotch?

Good episode. I kind of just want one more season as well or at least some mom clues. But from what we have always seen, this show is way more than how Ted meets the mom. At the beginning the title drew viewers in. However, the best advice would be to ignore the title because the story has developed past one person’s quest.

  41.  AWH | May 25, 2010 @ 5:10 pm

    - Ooh! I love Lily’s outfit! [Editor's note: I also enjoyed the purple one]
    - “Quick question: How are you guys gonna deal with the whole Santa thing? I figure, just be honest.”
    - I love mind conversations! [And this episode was chock full of 'em. A little bit too full? Still, I liked them all individually.]
    - Robin bringing her Canadiana politics to “Monty and Moo-Moo”
    - Why is it that all Asian hairdressers/nannies are named Helen?
    - Busting my hump vs. humping busty chicks, ah the life of Barney
    - Barney would have a plan for mission “Around the World in 80 Lays”
    - Is it just me, or did it bother you that the real-life bedroom walk-ins were not in the same order as in the fantasy?
    - “Stay out of this Brigitte Neilson or Dolph Lundgren from Rocky IV!”
    - That was a nice little retrospective moment
    - “…and that’s the story of how dying my hair blond prevented me and Robin from doing something we’d regret.”
    - Good riddance Don
    - “Lady, simmer, your husband’s right there; at least try to hide it.”

Overall, this episode was mixed for me. The sap quotient was surely filled and I got the warm fuzzies a lot; I just love LAME. Still, a lot of the jokes were stilted and predictable. Even though I laughed a fair bit I felt the jokes coming on each time – as well as all the plots and fake-outs. I was just wishing it weren’t so. I mean, I understand that most people can be refined to some distinct mannerisms and one can predict their reactions, but it’s almost becoming boring how fine-tuned the actors [and writers] are making these characters. I’m glad to have Lily be actually ready for a baby and who knows, maybe we’ll have a better, secret Barney doppelganger reveal for just the audience. Other than that, we basically got nowhere. We already knew about Barney’s inner kid desires (which sounds worse than how I meant it) and Robin is no further in her career, relationship, or housing situations. Maybe it’s just the writers realizing that they took the characters in the wrong directions this season and they want to bring them back to where they were before in order to set them on paths that are evolving, but more true to the heart of the earlier seasons. I can only hope that Season 6 restores my faith in the series and this seemed to build good bridge to start that up. Please use it Bays and Thomas!

  42.  katie90 | May 25, 2010 @ 5:30 pm

    to no one’s surprise; i didn’t like it ;)
liked ted’s blonde hair. everything else was kind of blah. with the fake doppelgangers and the TOTALLY predictable robin/don story. and when ted and robin went to kiss i swore to the TV gods never to turn on himym again. i’m giving you one last chance – you better rock season 6, himym!!

  43.  katie90 | May 25, 2010 @ 5:34 pm

ok – two more things. how lame that they tried and make us panic regarding robin leaving new york AGAIN. seriously, spring for some new topics.
and i hated how quickly the don story was over. i really hope they bring him back next season and wra it up nicely since he was supposed to be robin’s big love (and she seriously needs one out of the group)

First off, Bsmooth, if you don’t like people criticizing the show, you can very easily go to another website. I think it’s good to list what we like and do not like about an episode. Don’t get upset that other people have different opinions or instruct them to not watch the show. Every week, I tune in to HIMYM to see the show I love. Sometimes, it is the show I love, sometimes it isn’t. Here’s where I get to talk about those differences with others who love the show.

This week, it was mostly the show I love. The telepathic conversations were great and so were the blonde reference jokes. Ted saying how each of them has grown was okay, but in actual time, these people have not progressed much in six years. At least it worked well with the doppelganger conceit. Barney’s cab driver bit was awesome, especially with the map, but the sword thrower bit a lot less awesome. It would have worked for me if Barney had a) not fainted at Estonian sword-swallower (corny) and b) realized his nice action (posing as his doppelganger) led to his Estonian action and pondered karma’s role in getting laid. LAME seemed okay, but I would have liked more development on their baby discussions. Lily’s doppelganger sighting would have had more impact then.

As my wife puts it, the show was okay, but it had no replay value. We watched it, we laughed at it, but we wouldn’t buy the DVD or watch it again. That’s a change from previous season finales and previous seasons.

i don’t know what you guys are thinking but the wedding bride was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  46.  Steve | May 25, 2010 @ 9:40 pm

Great episode but ONE BIG FLAW
How the hell knows Barney how to drive??!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!!?!?
I just felt insulted by that big mistake.
He shit his pants when learning to drive with Ted and now the sudden he drives through New York city?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  47.  Fabio | May 25, 2010 @ 10:14 pm

he’d driven before on the show :)

  48.  Fabio | May 25, 2010 @ 10:15 pm

also, mistakes like that are inevitable on shows that last for several seasons

  49.  Fabio | May 25, 2010 @ 10:18 pm

also², for people saying that had already played the “robin-is-leaving” card, i think this time the purpose of that was only to show how she had finally chosen love over her career…. explaining why Don was so darn important for her character’s development

  50.  Toby | May 25, 2010 @ 11:41 pm

Ok, shockingly Katie90 we disagree again! I LOVED IT!!!!!! Yes, it was predictable but whatever. I have to say that I thought I was going to throw my laptop out the window if Robin and Ted kissed so I am happy that they didn’t. If they went back there again……………. Ugh.

I loved how they referenced that Barney loves Robin and was upset when she was going to move away.

@Saar Robin and Ted are NOT getting back together. He said if they kissed it would have been a huge mistake.

@high hopper: Don was important in order to show Robin’s growth about relationships because she never would have chosen a man over her carrer prior to that.

@Marggis: Barney is always hot no matter what color his hair is!

It didn’t bother me that it didn’t have a cliff hanger. I hate ending seasons with one anyway because it drives me nuts when I have to wait three months to see what happens. Last year drove me crazy because I wasn’t entirely sure what transpired between Barney and Robin because it was super subtle. Plus there was the whole Ted’s wife being a student thing :) .

Overall I think this episode was significantly better than the past few, and yes this season hasn’t been so great, but there were definitly some strong episodes including Definitions, Robin 101, Bagpipes, The Window, Girls Vs. Suits, Jenkins, Of Course, Rabbit or Duck, and Hooked.

I am sad that there won’t be any new episodes, I kind of got hooked to this blog this season, and will miss it over the summer :( .

BTW, for all you fellow Gleeks out there, how good was this weeks episode? Especially, Bad Romance!

  51.  FrankQB | May 26, 2010 @ 1:13 am

A good episode. One that stands above all the other garbage in this season, but not exactly my favorite this year. That’s just personal preference. Loved the blond Ted jokes and Barney’s antics, the Robin stuff plot was excellent though her confrontation with Don was a bit brief.

Loved all the various strands of plot, but with LAME on baby-making duty and Ted and Robin living together again, it makes me wonder where this show is going to go. I kept getting the feeling this season that the writers were trying to discuss what happens when friends grow up and grow apart and yet here they all are back together again. Yes, as the episode explained, they’re not the same as they were 5 years ago, but what are they?

P.S. I still kind of want Ted and Robin to be together. I’m just hopeless that way, but I think it’s because I’m madly in love with Cobie Smulders.

  52.  Rainy | May 26, 2010 @ 4:28 am

    @ Steve
I also thought about that too at first. I even search in wikipedia which mention about Barney’s driving skill & remembered about Barney getting his speeding ticket in ‘As Fast As He Can’. So maybe he was developing his driving skill after the practice with Ted (which was a flashback).

  53.  Varun | May 26, 2010 @ 4:41 am

I know there are a lot of pops for this episode and I am on board with those. But I have been noticing that people do tend to want a lot more of the mother aspect to the series and I feel the show has slightly moved away from that.

But when I think about it, its not about the mother this show, its probably about Ted just teaching his children all the life lessons in this long winded story which he started for this very reason.

The message from this episode was simply brilliant – the progression which the respective characters have gone through has been very realistic and believable.

As for Season 6 I am unsure where the writers are going to go with it as the had no major story twists apart from Lily and Marshall wanting to start a family. But I really don’t see them dominating the air time. Any ideas folks?

  54.  Varun | May 26, 2010 @ 5:16 am

Oh n BTW To everyone who keeps lamenting about Ted and Robin – You have either never been around an ex long enough or else you clearly don’t know how real life situations pan out….

It will always, always be difficult to put an ex out of your mind especially when are feeling down and lonely. Ted and Robin broke up as they wanted different things and now they seem to be growing closer to each other as they look like wanting the same things.

As a depiction of real life events, which I think the show does than most others, I feel this gets it spot-on.

  55.  Tresa | May 26, 2010 @ 6:03 am

lik most reviews… .i think this one was among the better episodes too..!!!
moderate end to a considerably boring season… i liked how it began, with barney and robin…. but it jus got too boring… well… hopin HIMYM is back with somethin fresh and live up to their name… “literally”..!!!
we need to see the mother soon!

  56.  jons | May 26, 2010 @ 6:08 am

barney drove on 23/04..no mistakes there

  57.  jons | May 26, 2010 @ 6:12 am

and by the sound of my neighbours car industry it was a maserati..you know italian leather ..hahaha

  58.  Kat | May 26, 2010 @ 8:52 am

Yeah, it was really exciting, that this show have Estonia mention, because most of people dosnt now, where Estonia is.
BUT, most of estonians is blond, not red, and also sword-swelling is more russian thing(circus is their theme)and also we dont speek englisch with these accent. And our internet system is amazing (We were the first country in the world, which was held on e-voting). So these are the prejudices. :)

Even in Estonian leading newspaper Postimees have today a little articel http://www.elu24.ee/?id=267492

  59.  GIlberto | May 26, 2010 @ 9:28 am

somebody kwows which is the final song of this chapter?

  60.  Starney Binson | May 26, 2010 @ 9:47 am

Really? People are going to list the top episodes of the season and not have “The Perfect Week” on there or “The Playbook” at number one?

  61.  BSMOOTH | May 26, 2010 @ 10:07 am

    @Zidge Dog

As you said, this forum is a place for free thinking, so perhaps you shouldn’t be telling me what to say or not say in my posts (in this case, don’t tell people not to watch the show). My post didn’t even say that actually, it said if the show upsets you so much, there’s an easy fix to it, turn off the tv. Simple commentary. There’s a difference between saying what you like and don’t like, and constantly sounding like a whining complainer like High Hoper tends to sound like on most occasions.

If I really disliked a show as much as his posts make it sound like he does, I’d stop watching. That’s my opinion, that’s all it is. Katie90 displays her displeasure in a much better way in my opinion.

  62.  LibraGirl | May 26, 2010 @ 10:54 am

For all those who keep saying that the writers are “insulting us” by trying to make us worry that Robin going to leave NYC…I think you’re missing the point. Remember, this is Ted’s story…the writers aren’t trying to make us worry – we all know that Cobie is not leaving the show – they are telling a story of what is happening in the whole group of 30-somethings. It’s absolutely normal, and expected (especially for Robin who has always talked about traveling the world) that she would consider leaving NYC many times. I’m sure there will be more…and that’s completely realistic given the nature of her character.

  63.  LaMe4eVr | May 26, 2010 @ 1:30 pm

@Butler BullDawg … PICTURES! Hahaha how crazy and random is that!?

Also, did anyone else think, “If I were Robin, I would have gone off on Don SO hard… like, yeah you asshole, I chose YOU over that job which the offered ME first because I’m clearly the better reporter here!”

Ok maybe not quite so rudely, but come on! She shoulda spoken up!

  64.  LaMe4eVr | May 26, 2010 @ 2:00 pm

@BSMOOTH … I totally agree with you!! This finale showed so much growth. And I really liked Ted’s analogy at the end about how we’re all our own dopplegangers…so true. I have found myself thinking about “old” me a lot lately and it’s just crazy how much a single person can change in 5-10 years. Anyway, I really appreciated that realization. And while Ted might have not “met the mother” yet, all our other characters really grew a lot this season. Looking forward to season 6!

  65.  marggis | May 26, 2010 @ 2:50 pm

@Toby: Yes, Barney is always hot, but I was surprised that he pulled the red hair out so nicely. :)

About Robin leaving again (which I already mentioned in my previous post) I feel like this time it was necessary, BUT is used still too many times. They should’ve left it out in some other episode and really use it only here (or max in 1 other episode), where it really did show us the evolving of a character.

  66.  Thomas | May 26, 2010 @ 4:01 pm

A couple days behind but I just caught the season finale and really enjoyed it. It felt a bit more low-key than previous season-enders but I liked that. Some real good stuff in the ep, but the standout things for me was pretty much every lined related to Ted’s blonde hair and Cobie Smulders’ performance which I thought was excellent.

I know this season has pretty much divided everyone here but I’ve really enjoyed it. When its been great its been classic HIMYM, even the poorest episodes have been a lot more watchable for me than quite a few other sitcoms. Many thanks for this website though for giving us all a decent space to talk about it anyway!

Really looking forward to next season now. I’m assuming the Marshall/Lily baby storyline will get going straight away, I’m also hoping we will get some more from Ted in his job as a professor. I thought that provided some great laughs this year and since we know this kinda has a role to play in him meeting his future wife I hope that sees us take some steps there.

  67.  High Hoper | May 26, 2010 @ 8:23 pm

So now (and it seems always to some people) I am a whining complainer…

  68.  matt | May 26, 2010 @ 8:53 pm

I just wanted to say that this finale reminded me a lot of the season 2 finale. Low key, no cliff hanger, the stories revolved around lame advancing in their relationship and a break up… just saying…

  69.  Fabio | May 26, 2010 @ 9:37 pm

    @High Hoper

no you’re not. you’re entitled to your opinion and we like to hear it (at least i do).

  70.  Gisella | May 26, 2010 @ 10:49 pm

    @High Hoper
For me. you are.. but that’s mi opinion too..

  71.  High Hoper | May 27, 2010 @ 2:54 am

    Thanks Fabio! :)

  72.  Steve | May 27, 2010 @ 4:57 am

    Just watched.

It was decent. Nothing special, probably one of the least interesting sweeps week episodes HIMYM has done, but still miles ahead of the drivel we’ve seen in the stretch run of Season 5.

Liked the Ted-Robin non-kiss – something that ruined a part of Scrubs they poked a little fun at. Liked the Barney schemes and the Marshall-Lily baby questions. B-plots usually fare better anyways.

Didn’t like the Robin-Don storyline – if he comes back you’d have expected a cliffhanger, if he doesn’t then why did we go through the whole season with him involved?

The people in charge of the show need to understand that the serial drama has taken storm in TV Land (Lost, 24, Heroes), and that HIMYM is a serial sitcom. I think this season they really went away from that, forgetting about the part of the story they wished to tell (maybe because they didn’t expect the show to last this long?) and not satisfying the fans. This finale was not satisfying either, although it was satisfactory.

  73.  Toby | May 27, 2010 @ 9:09 am

@ High Hopper, Whatever you are allowed to express your opinion, and entitled to complain if you want. Personally I don’t mind a difference of opinions because I like to debate.

  74.  Buxton | May 27, 2010 @ 9:37 am

I read somewhere that the writers planned up to 7 seasons if they can or even longer. So I’m pretty sure they have enough story to keep o. Going for 2 seasons.

  75.  High Hoper | May 27, 2010 @ 11:58 am

I don’t seem to be a complainer, I only tell what I think. And when I feel the show is marvelous, I tell it without regrets or problems. But, when I watch it and I don’t like it, I say it, nothing else. I don’t want every episode just like seasons 1&2, I want a special comedy that makes me laugh :)

  76.  BSMOOTH | May 27, 2010 @ 1:51 pm

    @High Hoper

The part of your first comment that annoyed me the most was the wanting the show to be on the bubble for renewal. That’s basically hoping that the show fails in the ratings and we’re left to stress out as to whether we’ll get a proper finale or not. Perhaps you don’t understand how shows are run, but they are shot months in advance. If you’re wishing for the show to be a bubble show, which basically means it has a 50/50 chance of being renewed, resulting in a 50/50 chance of us never finding out who the mother is, then I have to question how much you really do care about the show. As for your other comments, I normally don’t mind them, although they do tend to be extremely repetitive (which is why I coined it whining), but the bubble comment to me, is ridiculous, and it set me off. Feel free to give your opinions, but also be prepared to hear the opinions of others, whether you like them or not.

  77.  katie90 | May 27, 2010 @ 2:37 pm

@ Toby: Shh, haven’t watched Glee yet. Haha, well, the Bad Romance thing wasn’t a spoiler, so that’s fine. But I’m looking forward to it. Glad to see I could count on you for having my opposite opinion for the finale as well, haha. Good ol’ reliable Toby ;) Well anyway, I might have initially overreacted to the episode. It was a decent episode, I guess, but I felt kind of let down, having expected something like The Leap (which, to me, kind of yanked himym out of a rut back then, cause it had had some sucky episodes at that point in the season as well. Come to think of it, that makes sense – remember how they shot the finale a lot earlier because of the girls’ pregnancies? So I guess The Leap actually belonged to “Old himym” ;) )

@ Fabio: Actually, Katie and I are two different people (and now, I see there’s a Kat in the mix, too, which makes all of this kind of confusing) but it’s funny how happy it made you when you thought I finally liked an episode :)

Boys (and girls), this really is a fun little community. Everybody knows what to expect from certain people and it’s really a lot of fun coming here and discussing the episodes, even counting in the fact that there’s always going to be a certain amount of bitching – both about the episode (from people like me) and about each other (from people who disagree) :)

That said: I’ll miss you guys over the break!!

  78.  katie90 | May 27, 2010 @ 2:41 pm

btw – how can there still be people complaining about Barney driving? It’s been shown in, like, what now, 3 or 4 episodes? I feel like every week I come on here and someone says “BIG FAT MISTAKE, why the heck is barney driving a car?” when that’s kind of been old news for over a year (As fast as she can, right?) :D

  79.  High Hoper | May 27, 2010 @ 8:09 pm

I was gonna say that script writers do their best work when the show is in the bubble, not that I want the show in the bubble. Also, it’s 99%sure that this show won’t be cancelled until bays&thomas want to extend it. It’s on syndication now, that means a lot of money and sure that they’ll end the series in 2/3 years (although I think it is a mistake and they should end it on season 6). Most people doesn’t realize that, the longer a show is on the air, the more of the initial magic loses.

Think whatever you want. I love himym, and i don’t think the last episodes are proud to get the himym seal of approval on them. Nothing more, expecting season 6 to be back on the track.

Hope you have a good summer. Maybe we can still be in contact through the forum :) For example, i’ll tell you my summer plans… studying and working as much as I can for saving all within my hands and being able to move to Australia next year (17000 km from where I am, Spain) to end studying a Bachelor’s Degree in Audio Production. A little town called Byron Bay.
    So, what about you? :)

  80.  AWH | May 27, 2010 @ 8:40 pm

@Matt: You don’t think “legend – wait for it” was enough of a cliffhanger?

    :P

  81.  matt | May 27, 2010 @ 10:33 pm

@awh…. ah true true. That was a nice touch to the end of that episode

  82.  Jenn- GCWOK Approved | May 30, 2010 @ 1:54 am

Butler BullDawg- that is so awesome!

  83.  Jenn- GCWOK Approved | May 30, 2010 @ 1:56 am

Katie 90- Thank you! I have been fighting that fight forever! I think people who are still shocked about driving just don’t actually read the comments on here. Same with the people that ask about a song 3 times each week after the answer’s been posted. Oh, well.
The Ellen Degeneres line was hilarious.

  84.  katie90 | May 31, 2010 @ 4:27 am

@ toby: i don’t remember – do you love mr shue or hate him? i just know you had some kind of strong feeling toward him, haha. cause if you love him, you need to google up his vogue pictures.

@ jenn: that’s true about the songs. those are the same people that post questions on some kind of board without bothering to use the search-button to check if anyone’s asked (and answered) it before, i guess :D
the ellen line makes me wonder if she should guest star. i love her in her interviews with nph but i don’t think she can pull off sitcom (haven’t watched her old sitcom, so i don’t know). i just really like nph and her together

  85.  Toby | May 31, 2010 @ 10:18 am

Katie, I LOVE Mr. Shue. He is such a cutie and sings so well. Its so funny because my friend and I who have completely different tastes in men both love Mr. Shue and NPH.

  86.  Scuba | May 31, 2010 @ 12:02 pm

Well….This was a great episode. But in my opinion, nothing really happened. Not the kind of plot i would expect a final episode to have. Still no sign of the mother. This starts to annoy me.

Seeing the passed series, i believe that this show jumped the shark. They should finish it in the next series, or it will get really boring.

  87.  katie90 | May 31, 2010 @ 12:59 pm

toby – then what are you waiting for? his vogue spread is hot :P

  88.  Spinmaster | May 31, 2010 @ 3:18 pm

    Hi!

Does anyone know the title of the song played in the last minute of the final of episode of 5. season?

  89.  SK | May 31, 2010 @ 4:27 pm

    @Spinmaster: it’s Lifesize, by a Final Frenzy :)

  90.  katie90 | May 31, 2010 @ 4:52 pm

@ jenn: haha, see (above) – there it is again. i found the song title on here in like 3 seconds, using my browser’s search function. himym fans are a lazy breed!

  91.  NCUK | May 31, 2010 @ 6:29 pm

i have had nph/shuster dream on video/song on repeat since it came out. it will literally get me through the summer (as i have no himym)

  92.  Toby | June 1, 2010 @ 11:00 am

Katie- Thanks for that. He is so hot………………….

  93.  katie90 | June 1, 2010 @ 1:16 pm

haha, glad we finally agree on SOMETHING, tony :P

  94.  katie90 | June 1, 2010 @ 1:17 pm

that was a typo. i mean TOBY, of course :)

  95.  katie90 | June 1, 2010 @ 1:19 pm

wait — so the post i put the typo in isn’t even on here? this commenting system is crazy :D

ok. so my first post was going to be “glad we finally agree on SOMETHING, toby” – then i hit “Submit”, saw i’d typed “tony” and used the back-button on my browser..then when i went to post about the typo, it said i can’t comment so often in such a short time..and now there’s just my typo-post without the actual thing it was referring to. haha, so now i’m confused. but STILL glad we agree on something, toby :P

  96.  Toby | June 1, 2010 @ 1:20 pm

    LOL,

We have to find a forum to talk about Glee!

  97.  mayank | June 1, 2010 @ 5:52 pm

just one thing to say…season six is gonna be the last one in this awesomely awesome sitcom..and im both sad and happy for that

  98.  katie90 | June 2, 2010 @ 6:05 am

toby: yup, we do! someone needs to put a replica site of this one for glee ;)
mayank: what makes you say that? is there some kind of info out? i fear they’ll make a seventh one after that and drag this thing out forever

  99.  David | June 2, 2010 @ 8:44 am

Nothing special… just to be comment number 100

  100.  David | June 2, 2010 @ 8:44 am

    YES!!!. Good night Amsterdam

  101.  Toby | June 2, 2010 @ 8:53 am

Katie09- how hot was Mr. Shue last night?????????

I seriously doubt the show is ending after a 6th season. It will likely go through to season 7 and end there.

  102.  Mims | June 2, 2010 @ 9:07 am

Is it just me or someone else notice that few seasons back BARNEY DIDNT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE!!!! And now he is driving a cab.
    Anyway this episode is awsome!!!

  103.  katie90 | June 2, 2010 @ 12:11 pm

toby – pretty hot! i just don’t get why he was trying to seduce sue when instead he could’ve been seducing me. i wouldn’t have protested as much..or at all :D

i also believe they’ll do a seventh season but really hope they’ll stop after that. plus he needs to have those kids by, like, 2015 or they’d never be as old as they are when he’s telling the story in 2030.

mims – seriously? please take the time to at least read some comments on here or use the search function with the word “drive”…on this or any other comment section for every episode barney has driven a car in ;)

  104.  Toby | June 2, 2010 @ 1:08 pm

Yeah, but if he stood you up you would have protested. One of my facebooj friend’s posted a pic of him shaking his butt. yum!

I agree, they need to stop at 7.

  105.  Meg | June 3, 2010 @ 11:45 am

But WHERE is the mother? So much teasing at the beginning of the season, with all the roomaid stuff etc… and nothing in the end?

i’m simply disappointed by this season, and how it ends…

  106.  DiceK | June 4, 2010 @ 1:09 pm

Lotsa people seem to have various views on the highs and lows of this show, and you know what, that is precisely what creates a classic; open debate. Right from day 1, every episode had its detractors just as well as its proponents, all the while with a unified love for the show. And I’m absolutely proud to see my favorite show so hotly debated, week in and week out.

That being said, I’m one of the minority who really did not like this finale. I really think it’s possible that I’ve gotten so used to the rhythm of HIMYM that I knew instantly what was going to happen next. But although the latter half of Season 5 really was a disaster, I still think Season 4 was the worst one out of all. They spent wayy too much time with Stella around. Yes, it’s emotional baggage, but the show already mentions Ted’s ability to just let it go. They didn’t work towards the mother at all in that season, but at least in this one there are some notable efforts to inch us closer to Mrs. Ted Mosby.

That being said, here are my favorite episodes from this year, please feel free to express your opinions on it:

    1. Robots versus Wrestlers
    2. The Rough Patch
    3. The Perfect Week
    4. Definitions
    5. Jenkins

  107.  katie90 | June 5, 2010 @ 5:44 am

I reaaaally don’t get why people like The Rough Patch. To me, it was the worst episode himym ever produced. It was just so bad and the whole car scene was extremely unfunny and forced. Can you explain what you like about it?

  108.  DiceK | June 5, 2010 @ 9:02 am

Would most certainly love to. I may partially agree with you about the car scene and stuff (really hated Alan Thicke repeating over and over again, talk about name-dropping), but I really appreciated the whole plot twist part. We see the whole group coming together on the consensus on Barney’s issue, in characteristically different periods. Ted notices it first, because as the character has developed into a bit less naive, more realistic, cynical bloke, he knows when something’s up. Marshall is next, because although he is totally enamored with the culmination of RoBarn, he too understands the situation with the help of Ted. And of course we would expect Lily to be in the first of the five stages of grief – Denial. It’s an episode full of realism with characterizations inch perfect. The episode ends with the gang coming to the acceptance of the opposite of what they were expecting from their plan, only to have it totally reversed on them again. The gang’s first conclusion was totally believable, since we too were totally sold on RoBarn, and I for one was satisfied with the gang’s initial conclusion that it was just a ‘Rough Patch.’ And while I was deeply saddened at the actual events, that too was definitely fitting as a story. It just wasn’t meant to be.

Plus! Barney and Robin ‘Chicken’-ing each other into getting married? Depressingly hilarious! And totally a RoBarn thing to do. AND a totally Marshall-and-Ted thing to do. The episode was the guys being the guys, and doing what they do best. Being themselves.

Sorry for encumbering you with such a lengthy review, but please take the time to read it! Would love to know what you think, and what you think about the rest of your most hated/favorite episodes.

Everbody seems to put their top 5 (this Season) episodes, so here’s mine.
    1.Playbook(probably funniest episode ever)
2.Definitions(Sets up Ted and RoBarn perfectly and Brad)
3.Of Course(Amazing performance by Robin, Ted Musical)
    4.The Window(Romantic Ted)
    5.Girls Vs Suits(Musical!!)

  110.  katie90 | June 6, 2010 @ 4:44 am

DiceK – Wow, you sure have given this a lot of thought! Thank you for explaining. I actually see your point, though still am not convinced ;) But that’s not what you were trying to do anyway, so that’s okay. Also, I cannot get over “ugl” Robin and “fat” Barney, I didn’t like that part of the plot because these two used to be sooo awesome, individually.

I really liked Definitions, because all summer long I had worried about how they were going to handle Robin and Barney and that first episode seemed to start off at the time. I was really happy with it and was looking forward to the rest of the season (also, how awesome was the whole Indiana Jones thing? Though kind of stolen from Friends where Ross goes on about how he basically is Indiana Jones without his whip ;) ).

The Perfect Week, to me, was also a really good one. The whole cell phone thing was kind of annoying but as a concept it worked and I laughed a lot.

Robots vs Wrestler was definitely one of the better ones this season and I always love douchey Ted but being named ROBOTS vs WRESTLERS I had my hopes up too high once again and it didn’t quite deliver the legendary episode I had expected (though I certainly do hope they bring back Robots vs Wrestlers as an annual tradition).

I don’t really remember much from Jenkins. I think I liked it but Amanda Peet didn’t really fit all that well into the cast, I think.

Now to those who I really liked, since – as PaKo89 pointed out – everybody’s been doing it. I don’t have them ranked, though, but here are the five I probably liked the best:

    Definitions

Double Date (loved god old romantic date-Ted and the crazy cat lady! And the whole concept of a do-over)

Of Course (I actually was surprised by Lopez, I think she pulled it off quite well and I loved, loved, loved Ted’s Super date song..thought it was way better than Barney’s suit song! And the “I said a bang, bang, a bangity bang”-song had ma leughing every time someone else joined in)

The Playbook (The Mrs Stinsfire? The Scuba Diver?! Awesomeness!)

Rabbit or Duck (I LOVE them arguing so intensely about a stupid thing like that)

And, for good measure, I’m gonna throw in my worst episodes:
Rough Patch (for reasons mentioned earlier)

Robin 101 (hated Marshall and the barrel – that was in that ep, right? – and it was just so unbelievable..and Robin so unlikeable..)

Slapsgiving 2 (for whatever reason, this is the episode I hated the most out of five seasons and have vowed to never see again. Words can’t express how much I hated this with Lily’s stupid dad, the stupid “You’re dead to me”-look, the totally ruined fourth slap..just…UGH)

Hooked (was just boring to me)

Dual Citizenship (didn’t like the road trip, hated Lily being her annoying little self, didn’t buy into the whole Canada thing with Barney and Robin)

And Girls vs Suits was just a letdown. I mean, the musical was nice, but the thing with the girl who hated suits was little weird. And while I hadn’t expected huge mother clues or anything, I just hated Rachel Bilson in that episode who was so whiny and so “Ooooh, why can’t anyone just like ME instead of my roommate?”. And attention-seeking Robin was also just plain embarassing and not the cool Robin we once knew.

Well..sorry for posting a 6 mile long comment!

  111.  AWH | June 6, 2010 @ 2:09 pm

I guess I’ll jump on the five episodes train as well.

    In chronological order:
    Double Date
    The Sexless Innkeeper
    The Playbook
    Last Cigarette Ever
    Of Course

    Honourable Mentions:
Robots Vs. Wrestlers I quite enjoyed, just not as much
The actual musical aspect of Girls vs. Suits was amazing, but I was so utterly dissapointed that it wasn’t the best episode ever that it has been shamed in my head. Still, NPH singing is basically my favourite thing in the world.

  112.  AWH | June 6, 2010 @ 2:10 pm

    *disappointed

  113.  anr | June 7, 2010 @ 7:26 pm

    Come on, JD. :( Please?

  114.  bro | June 8, 2010 @ 1:51 pm

    seriously, JD?

  115.  Sleeks3000 | June 8, 2010 @ 3:24 pm

Wat the effff! JD, YOU ARE SERIOUSLY SLACKING!!! lol.

  116.  Toby | June 9, 2010 @ 9:34 am

    Katie09-How good was Glee??????????

  117.  katie90 | June 9, 2010 @ 3:52 pm

toby: I KNOW! I only came on here just now to ask you the same thing :D
It was awesome, especially given the no-so-great Funk-episode. Mr Shu was kind of unsexy, though, he cried to much in my opinion :D But I loved, loved, loved it!

  118.  DiceK | June 12, 2010 @ 5:56 pm

Would anyone agree with me that at least season 5 was better than Season 4? Last year’s episodes were just forgettable, apart from Shelter Island, where we see a Robin actually being the voice of reason on the topic of Love, for Ted’s sake?

  119.  GT | June 13, 2010 @ 1:18 am

DiceK, I completely disagree. Season 4 was great, although it ruined Ted’s life, it was a learning experience for all the characters. And Three Days Rule has got to be one of if not the most hilarious episode of HIMYM.

JD, where are you? It’s been weeks!

  120.  Gisella | June 13, 2010 @ 8:04 am

I started watching this tv show because of season 4. It was so recommended that I couldn’t avoid watching it.. and I loved it.. then I watch season 1, 2 and 3.. so I have to say that season 4 was aamazing.. anf for me one of the bests is “Intervention” and anothers.. so yes, season 4 is great

  121.  Toby | June 13, 2010 @ 10:21 am

    Season 4 is awesome!!!

Katie09-yes, Mr. Shue cried way too much and I thought the scene where Quinn gave birth was lame and to sir with love was cheezy, but I LOVED the music. I have been listening to anyway you want it nonstop.

  122.  Silent Visitor | June 13, 2010 @ 8:11 pm

    JD, what’s the deal?

  123.  Ricky Kidd | June 14, 2010 @ 12:15 pm

Just keeping up the we-miss-JD chain here. C’mon, man, we want to hear your thoughts on S5!

  124.  Mike | June 14, 2010 @ 1:42 pm

the canadian variety show WILL be next season.

  125.  katie90 | June 15, 2010 @ 4:25 pm

loved season 4 as well..had a couple of sucky ones like the stinsons and stuff but all in all it was really good! the finale blew me away, interventions & three days rule rank among the show’s best, imo

  126.  Spencer | June 15, 2010 @ 8:21 pm

    JD.

  127.  GT | June 15, 2010 @ 10:29 pm

i think this is a record absence, JD…. more than that time with the 3 missed eps

but i’m sure its something important and work-related, so we’ll hang in here

  128.  Silent Visitor | June 17, 2010 @ 1:42 pm

    Damn it…

  129.  Matthew | June 17, 2010 @ 9:36 pm

Is the guy running this coming back? Hello? Did he hate the episode?

I thought Id try to do a review of the episode. I tend to disect the ‘official’ synopsis of the episode and string from that.

    *************
    Tv Guide:

“Marshall and Lily make a vow to try to have a baby when they see Barney’s doppleganger. And Robin is offered her dream job.”

Two lines of text describe a good chunk of this episode, but it is perhaps the second sentence that does not seem to gel that much. I will discuss the Robin part of the episode first and then work my way back to the baby.

This season Robin has started out with Barney, gone back to being ‘friends’ with Barney in one of the weaker episodes of the season and then dated Don, her initially abrasive co anchor on the morning talk show. Yet at the end of the day as usual, Robin’s choices come down to her personal life or her career choice. A Job offer in Chicago sets up an interesting dilemma for Robin. Does she stay with Don or pursue her career? HIMYM has already dealt with Robin in employment overseas (Japan) and thus I knew that she wasnt going to go simply on that alone.

Don’s decision to take the job and the aftermath shows the depths of Robin’s sadness, both for the lost opportunity and for Don. It’s great to see the character of Robin have this level of intimacy with another character that is not a cast member.

I have decided to talk about the Marshall and Lily situation last because it made me groan a little. When children are introduced into a tv show, strange things happen. Plots are introduced involving strange trips to baby clothing stores, doctors visits etc. On a show like HIMYM Im not sure that will work.

Will these scenes take away from time at the Bar? (ie Lily drinking while Pregnant?). Will Barney be teamed with the baby?

At the end of the day though, the audience can see this decision coming. Marshall and Lilly have naturally come to that point in their lives. When you think about it, of all the characters on the show they may be the most ‘natural’. A decision is made , then unmade then nade due to the sight of a doppleganger, the title of the episde. Yet is not a doppleganger at all.

    Other Musings

    * Ted as a Blond. Loved the Ellen Degeners quote. He didnt really do a whole lot this episode.

    * Barney, seemed to have another scheme to bed women. Then spent the last 10 minutes freaked out by the group ‘changing’. His mellowing on certain rules is perhaps a sign of change in himself?

    * ‘Show me what you got!’

    * For a bit of totally unexpected variance in the show, I would have loved to have had Robin turn up on Barney’s door and ask for a place to stay rather than Teds. Im sure some fanfic writer out there has already done a story for it though. Would of made for some funny eps in Season 5.

Overall: An enjoyable episode, no reveal about the mother and perhaps some characters evolving.

  130.  katie90 | June 18, 2010 @ 4:12 pm

JD, you know i’m your biggest defender when it comes to taking-time-off-to-live-real-life..but come on..it’s the finale! we’re dying to hear your thoughts

  131.  katie90 | June 18, 2010 @ 4:20 pm

aaand @ toby: did you see mr shu at the tony awards? i’m beginnig to think they give him the wrong songs on glee, his voice at the tonys was way better than in glee, i think

  132.  High Hoper | June 19, 2010 @ 3:52 am

And by the way, when Barney shows the map, there’s no tick over Argentina. But he hooked up with an argentinian student according to ‘Something Blue’.

  133.  katie90 | June 22, 2010 @ 2:28 pm

see, THOSE kinds of continuity errors are way more fun than “umm..i’m pretty sure barney couldn’t drive once upon a time and has definitely not had time to learn it in the 3 years since!” :)

  134.  Matthew | June 22, 2010 @ 6:26 pm

However a show like this with a very tight writing staff should easily be able to remember things about Barney’s writing. To me it makes sense that he learned to drive between episodes for this playbook.

  135.  Fabio | June 24, 2010 @ 8:14 am

    @High Hoper

man i so wanna see something blue again to check on that!! lol

  136.  Gisella | June 24, 2010 @ 4:21 pm

High Hoper.. remember that Barney has no idea about countries!!.. he mixes ”all the countries. France, etc… so who can assure us that he knows what countries are those on which he has put the tickets???.

  137.  Fabio | June 25, 2010 @ 8:30 am

when it comes to women he’s had sex with or hopes to have sex with, barney becomes pretty knowledgeable on world geography lol

  143.  pushpinder | June 28, 2010 @ 7:19 am

when is the season 6 starting? any clues?

  144.  Matthew | June 28, 2010 @ 6:31 pm

Your wish is my command. The Season 6 premiere date is September 21st 2010!

    Hope that helps.

  145.  Fabio | June 29, 2010 @ 7:51 am

Season finalle with no review. Sad

  146.  manu littman | June 29, 2010 @ 8:20 am

I love to watch this show and this is the best episode of this season. Thanks.

  147.  NCUK | July 3, 2010 @ 8:26 pm

i haven’t read the whole “barney mixing up countries” but clearly he does:

    (Discussing what to eat)
    Ted: Chinese?
    Barney: I don’t like Chinese.
    Ted: Indian?
Barney: I just said, I don’t like Chinese.
    Ted: Indian isn’t Chinese.
Barney: Weird meats, funny music, side of rice. Why are we splitting hairs?
    Ted: Mexican?
Barney: I just said, I don’t like Chinese!

the fact that they all eat it in lily’s old apartment (aka chinese restaurant) but i guess we’ve had to get used to continuity at the expense of cheap jokes (this isn’t even one of the bad ones)

i think the writers need to write a new character profile for barney and be specific, so that it doesn’t change every other episode.

  148.  Rhenan | July 5, 2010 @ 1:19 pm

Only a really good show can divide opinions like that. Congratulations, How I Met Your Mother! You did it again!

BTW, perfect season finale. There’s no cliffhanger, but it analysed 5th season at all, like we all felt during the season. All the characters are more mature, including Barney (Ted is the most).

But, one small flaw: I can’t believe they throw the “Robin-is-leaving” thing AGAIN! Sure, Don has to go, but every Season this menace of Robin going away appears. How many times they’ll come again with it?

  149.  bro | July 7, 2010 @ 9:33 am

    This is ridiculous.

  150.  Jenn- GCWOK Approved | July 9, 2010 @ 11:48 pm

Katie- Oh my goodness! I came back on here today and laughed my head off at how we were ranting about people asking about the driving and the music and then litterally FOUR comments later someone asks, “Do you know what the song is” and you said “Seriously?!” instead of answering! Hahaha, I cannot stop laughing. People are idiots.

And to you and Toby, I looked up the Vogue shoot because of what you said….. and WHY haven’t we had him singing with his shirt off before?!?! Holy cow, I had no idea that was under there! As Marshall says to the pizza delivery girl when Lily dies “Where do I sign?!” :)

Also I have a story. My sister was working today at a diamond sorting and appraisal facility and another girl who just started work a couple days ago found out that her engagement ring was cubic zarconia. Not even kidding. Then her fiancee came to pick her up for lunch and she ran outside and started yelling at him. Well, everybody’s sitting there in silence when a girl says, “poor thing. She’s so nice and pretty, too” and this guy says, “no, she’s crazy!” They all start debating about whether she’s crazy or not, and ANOTHER coworker pulls out a pen and paper and says, “No, see, I learned there is a hot/crazy scale and you have to be on this side of it…” and drew the exact diagram that Barney drew! Everyone thought it was so smart and my sister said, “Hey, that’s from HIMYM!” and she said, “Yes!” So everyone tried to decide where she was on the scale. Haha- I thought that was funny. And sad about the ring.
Sorry that was a really long story.

  151.  PaKo89 | July 10, 2010 @ 2:18 pm

Come on JD, maybe your busy, maybe you didnt like the finale but as this is a BLOG you have to post something.
Or just stop blogging at all.

  152.  Spencer | July 12, 2010 @ 1:56 am

Pretty sure JD hated the finale. It was the final little push he needed after hating the fifth season. That one, little push and now he has completely forsaken the site.

So who here can hack? We’ll need a new leader. Someone to guide the voice of the fans. JD isn’t doing it, and apparently, neither has the staff writers.

  153.  Jenn- GCWOK Approved | July 12, 2010 @ 3:53 am

Totally saw Ranjit as a taxi driver in Persons, Unknown. I don’t really like the show, but I got excited when I saw him. I hope he gets to play some other kinds of characters, too!

  154.  AWH | July 12, 2010 @ 2:33 pm

JD I really hope nothing terrible happened to you because I miss the best-kept HIMYM blog on the interweb. Please return soon.

  155.  NCUK | July 12, 2010 @ 6:20 pm

i keep checking back to see if he’s posted.

    ……nope.

    ……still no.

  156.  High Hoper | July 13, 2010 @ 3:51 pm

    I know he still lives… :)

  157.  Cynical Visitor | July 13, 2010 @ 11:12 pm

Do you really know? Or are you just a high hoper?

  158.  High Hoper | July 14, 2010 @ 1:44 pm

    I do know.

  159.  katie90 | July 14, 2010 @ 2:20 pm

@toby & @jenn: i know i’m late on this now (but..well..right now this blog doesn’t quite have the check-every-day-appeal it used to have ;) ) but i totally agree on having mr shu sing without his shirt. heck, he I’ll even tolerate his rapping once the shirt is off :D

@spencer: like your attitude. we can all be blog leaders. kind of a pass-the-conch-system like in lord of the flies :P so get the hackin’ started and steal JD’s site. cause once he realizes what he’s missing, he’ll be back in no time

what i don’t get is that JD established that system where others can send in reviews months ago. so..if he doesn’t have the time..why not simnply upload one of the other guys’ reviews? there must’ve been some of them since that finale obviously once again got a variety of different opinions out of us.

soo anyway. how has your summer been so far? can’t say that i miss himym right now. maybe the people who criticize a lot can understand me on this one: to me, it’s kind of a relief, not thinking “i hope they’re not gonna ruin this next episode” every week.. the downward spiral that, to me, was season 5 has really kind of ruined it all for me. i really hope they get it right next season cause right now i can’t even watch the first (very very awesome) seasons withouth thinking how it all goes down the hill from there. last summer, i couldn’t wait for himym to return. now i’m kind of – please visualize marshall rating robin’s hotness right now – “ehh”

  160.  Jenn- GCWOK Approved | July 15, 2010 @ 1:35 am

Haha- that is EXACTLY how I feel. I’ve been sitting here for 3 minutes thinking of what to add, but that’s pretty much it! :)

  161.  katie90 | July 15, 2010 @ 3:51 pm

haha :D glad to hear that, jenn!

  162.  katie90 | July 17, 2010 @ 5:32 am

me again. soo. there’s an ausiello blind item (http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2010/07/16/blind-item-wedding-shocker/?xid=rss-feed-todayslatest-Ausiello Blind Item: Married?!) that’s saying SOME show gets a wedding at the end of next season but there’s a mystery element that ausiello doesn’t know about. i’m gonna go out on a limb here and say it’s definitely ted and the mom :P any thoughts? i kind of hope it’s them and it means it’ll be the show’s last season

  163.  Spencer | July 18, 2010 @ 2:01 pm

You know, I guarantee J.D.’s been reading our comments. I’m just guessing that so much time has passed, and that without anything real relevant to post about, time just continues getting more and more awkward until we get news of Season Six.

Or, you know, he just stopped caring. lol.

  164.  AWH | July 19, 2010 @ 12:32 am

    @Katie90

Well, everything fits…and good god I hope it’s true! For the sake of preserving the memory of one of my favourite shows it has to end here with Season 6. It seems ridiculous to state item #4 for anything else anyway.

  165.  Spencer | July 19, 2010 @ 2:07 am

Hey, just rewatched “Say Cheese” again.
Barney never takes a bad picture, right?

I laughed when I suddenly remembered the intro of the show.

  166.  High Hoper | July 19, 2010 @ 5:35 pm

    So, guys, good news!

I talked to JD. He’s doin’ fine, very busy and he told me to tell you that he’ll be back soon, non-specified date.

Maybe this calm some of you :)

  167.  Spencer | July 21, 2010 @ 3:07 pm

Well, his twitter is active. I think the link is on the main page.

  168.  John | July 26, 2010 @ 10:47 am

The Show is ALL but OVER People … Rumours are ripe of it being shelved given the poor ratings in the last season !!!!

  169.  Matthew | July 27, 2010 @ 6:55 am

Has it not already been renewed John? I can see why people didnt enjoy this season so much, and I sorta agree with Jason Segals comments about where his character is right now, but I think it still has another season or 2 in it.

  170.  Spencer | July 27, 2010 @ 2:22 pm

I feel bad for Segel. I’ve seen his comedic range, and they do limit him on the show. You can tell when he’s having an authentic moment based on the reactions on the other cast members’ faces.

Even Cobie admitted that the writer’s haven’t exactly handled story arcs that well.

What I’m really hoping for is the idea that Bays & Thomas gave free reign to the other writers to see how they could handle a season, like a test. I hope that they learned from this and will put more of a unified effort into season 6 and nothing as bad as “Zoo or False.”

But it may be beyond help until the finale. Once the popularity rises and the paychecks go up, A good show slowly becomes a “sitcom” where the characters become caricatures of their original selves. Barney is now overbearingly funny and over-exaggerated, they made Ted steal the blue French horn again as a short laugh (when it originally defined the heartfelt romantic), Lily turned into a crazy bi-polar manipulator, and Marshall, they make him a goofball with little relevant dialogue sans the wise poetic lines that show up briefly every 7 episodes or so. Robin slowly faded after leaving for Argentina with her purpose being a crutch or set up for one of the other characters. They tried to remedy this with Don, and they may shed more light in season 6, but for the most part, she’s sat in the passenger seat since halfway through season 3.

I understand they’re just trying to evolve the show, but it’s changing from a “Kids, let me tell you the heartfelt story of how I found the love of my life, and the long road I had to travel to find her. Not just through life’s challenges, but my internal challenges as well.” to more of a “Hey! I’ll have another drink! Where was I? Oh yeah! So there I was with this mega hottie. The Barnacle was trying to get it on with three blondes, all sisters. Marshall was in the middle of this insane joke that made us laugh so hard we pissed our pants. And Marshall’s wife, who was smoking hot that night, was wearing this low cut shirt that made me wonder why I’m limiting myself to this quest for a perfect woman who doesn’t even exist….”

It’s a story you would tell your buddies at a bar, rather than your teenage children. It’s losing its core. Segel knows it. He knows they’ve ran his character into a corner, and unless they divorce or do something drastic, he’s not going to expand. All the parenting is going to do is limit his screen time in the bar to being confined at home or babies r us. Lily’s going to become even more over emotional and reclusive, leaving Barney, Robin, and Ted to group together (which we’ve already seen how that turns out).

I just wish they would take more risks with serious storylines instead of stupid slapstick sitcom ideas like “The Stinsons” or “Zoo or False.” I understand it’s a comedy, but even Scrubs (which I consider incredibly slapstick) had a great deal of intensely serious situations, but it ran a successful 8 seasons (I’m erasing the horrid Med School ninth season).

They need to get on the ball, or else the actors may move on. Topher Grace & Ashton Kutcher left That ’70s show once they realized their characters couldn’t evolve any further. And they wanted to focus on their movie careers. Sound familiar? And if you think back to the seventh and eighth seasons. The writing sucked. Eric did nothing that entire season. Kelso became a dad then went off to be a bouncer at a strip club. 8th season: Randy.

I fell in love with HIMYM last year, watching all the episodes back to back. The first two episodes of the first season sold me on the show. Then I watched the fourth season. Still liked it very much, but not that glimmer. Then the fifth season started to air, and I was excited because I was caught up with everyone else and was waiting to see how they might introduce the mother in the classroom. I defended the show over halfway through the season until I started to understand the points the others here were making. Then came Slapsgiving 2, then Of Course, and finally Zoo or False. Wow. I actually looked forward to do something else on my Monday nights.

Ok, I’m sorry. Rant over. I’m still holding onto spirit for season 6, but I don’t know if I can take another full season like the one we just had.

i don’t think any of us can, spencer!!

  172.  Jenn- GCWOK Approved | July 28, 2010 @ 2:13 am

Matthew- What comments from Jason Segel are you referring to? I can’t find anything along those lines, but I’d like to read it…

  173.  Spencer | July 28, 2010 @ 3:21 am

@ Jenn, it’s from GQ. Here’s the URL:

  177.  NCUK | July 29, 2010 @ 7:50 am

“In Season 5, “We set out to say, ‘What if every episode, you hit the reset button at the end of the episode?’” Bays said. “…We had fun doing that, but I feel like that’s not the show we wanted to do.” ”

that is why this series was so lame.

  178.  Kaveh | July 29, 2010 @ 10:28 am

Awesome that the writer acknowledge the fact that season 5 sucked.

They seem motivated to make season 6 really great.

    Looks great!

    Don’t forget the NYMag interview!

    http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2010/07/how_i_met_your_other_carter_ba.html

    Great read

  180.  Zidge Dog | July 31, 2010 @ 5:35 pm

Thanks for those links – my wife and I were thrilled to read them. The idea that we are going into Act Three is good, and I really hope we can put season five behind us. To their credit, some of my favorite Barney episodes have been this season – I love The Playbook and The Perfect Week – but mostly this season has been caricatures of characters that once seemed pretty real and plot developments that felt unearned. I hope the next season lives up to this interview’s promises.

On a somewhat unrelated note – I’m watching Buffy for the first time this summer, and I’m just finishing Season Five. It’s really weird seeing Lily as Willow, but I imagine for most of you, it was the other way round. Somehow the “you’re dead to me” look will seem a little more frightening now.

i think i will always think of her as the band geek..
“this one time at band camp…”

All these interviews are getting me excited for the upcoming season

  183.  Jenn- GCWOK Approved | August 2, 2010 @ 12:19 am

Well, THANK GOODNESS they figured out they messed up- maybe that really will make season 6 good. The first couple I read I thought, “I’ll believe it when I see it,” but the fact that they said if they could re-do the Barney and Robin thing, they’d do it differently actually says a lot. Shows don’t usually admit when they’re wrong.
    7 weeks left!
What does everyone think the “different perspective” is for the mother? Are they adopted? Ohh-ohh- did their first mom die? Let’s hear it, people!

  185.  Toby | August 3, 2010 @ 2:58 pm

Thanks for posting the article. I am going with the “I’ll believe it when I see it” attitude.

Jenn-I know they are admitting that they screwed up with Barney and Robin NOW when everyone has been complaining about it, but last summer all the articles made their relationship sound so promising, so…………………….

  186.  Spencer | August 3, 2010 @ 5:42 pm

Straight from the twitter of the HIMYM Production staff, they’ve announced a new Twitter account for the writers: http://www.twitter.com/HIMYMWriters

  187.  Tim | August 6, 2010 @ 11:45 am

The first episode of Season 6 is going to air on September 20. I’m wondering if there’ll be a Season 7. I think they’re almost through the story :(

  188.  Tom | August 6, 2010 @ 4:54 pm

they said if you think of the whole story, being devided in three parts, season 6 would be the beginnig of the third part. so i’m pretty sure there will be more season to come :)
also, all the actors have contracts running for 3 more years.

  189.  Spencer | August 6, 2010 @ 7:38 pm

They’ve changed the Writers’ Twitter account already. It’s now http://twitter.com/himym_writers

  190.  Matthew | August 6, 2010 @ 9:17 pm

In the recent Carter Bays/ Craig Thomas interview I read that Carter would like to see it go to 8 seasons. I think I see 7 as the limit personally. As a story concept it always had a defined life.

  191.  SundaeQueen | August 7, 2010 @ 7:33 pm

Anyone else in NYC really excited that they might film in the city?! That would be the most amazing thing ever.

  192.  Nor | August 9, 2010 @ 1:19 pm

I dunno what you guys are talking about but i thought series 5 was incredible! soo funny and a very sweet story! also the 100th episode and probably the most important episode “girls vs. suits” was part of this series! i loved every single episode and the finale was soo good (: it summed up what had changed from the first series all the way til the 5th… five amazing and hilarious years!!
brunette barney and blonde ted? WOAH. that was awsome! i hope ted keeps his hair blonde he looked great!

    made me laugh SO hard….

“AHH! what are you doing in our bedroom? AHH! what are YOU doing in our bedroom? AHH! what is ellen degeneres doing in our bedroom?”

oh god jason segel you are legen…wait for it…DARY!

  193.  katie90 | August 10, 2010 @ 5:04 pm

@Nor: Don’t mean to partypoop. But how was Girls vs Suits the mot important episode ever? Cause we saw the Mom’s friggin’ foot?

  194.  NCUK | August 10, 2010 @ 6:11 pm

to be fair….we now know that she has a foot.

  195.  Hopeful Visitor | August 11, 2010 @ 2:52 pm

White non-handicapped knocks out several demographics

  196.  John Darc | August 12, 2010 @ 7:42 am

    JD? More like J Dead.

  197.  NCUK | August 12, 2010 @ 12:34 pm

i guess she could always have a prosthetic foot….then I guess she could be handicapped. so they are back in the game. yeah I don’t think it was a massive game changer, though I am a big fan of the bilson.

  198.  High Hoper | August 12, 2010 @ 12:36 pm

JD will write here… Give him time :)

  199.  katie90 | August 13, 2010 @ 4:03 am

@NCUK: haha, right. and we basically know she’s everything ted’s missed blind date in season one was (base player and stuff) so we’re rrright back where we started since the mom’s probably his perfect girl from back then anyway. tadaaa. total filler episode and a mean cheat for everyone who thought ep 100 was gonna be a big deal and would tell us anything real about the mom. oh and i like bilson, too, but her role (totally insecure annoying roommate girl) was sucky and not believable

  200.  NCUK | August 13, 2010 @ 12:26 pm

@katie90 i know!!! like who is not jealous of the bilson i totally want to be her! they have set some super high standards for the mother…

  201.  bro | August 13, 2010 @ 3:17 pm

give him time??! we’ve given him 4 months!

  202.  katie90 | August 14, 2010 @ 3:38 am

@NCUK: exactly. which makes me start another (slightly weird ;) ) line of reasoning – if the mom’s better than her roommate, she’s just perfect – which is totally boring. do we want ted with a perfect mom-bot?

  203.  NCUK | August 14, 2010 @ 7:08 am

@katie90 i don’t think a mom-bot would be right for ted.. he likes a bit of edge. like…girls that could kick him in the face, or climb down the fire escape or get a tattoo or refuse to tell him their name etc.. she’ll probably just be perfect.. for ted. And i guess she could be one of those girls that everyone falls for, i have a friend like that and she isn’t bilson hot..so i guess that would make sense.

  204.  katie90 | August 14, 2010 @ 10:44 am

too bad the ‘window’ closed before he got to date maggie ;) i liked her although she seemed kinda boring-perfect, too

  205.  Nor | August 14, 2010 @ 10:49 am

@katie90: haha. well, yes we have established that she does in fact have a foot but now we know who her roomate is and we know what she is like and ALSO where she lives… and also ted with have to wait 1-4 years if this girl is at uni cause professors aren’t alowed to date students. and it was the closest to seeing the mother so i think this episode is very important, ALSO we know what her foot looks like so LOOK OUT in season 6 people! :D and i love bilson too, wud love to have her as a roomate but the mother doesn’t have to be better to fall inlove with.. just needs to be “the ultimate girl next door” (:

  206.  NCUK | August 18, 2010 @ 2:17 pm

    http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2010/08/18/how-i-met-your-mother-is-major-spoiler-alert/

    premier of season 6 to include….wait-for-it….a wedding…!!

  207.  katie90 | August 23, 2010 @ 3:11 pm

tadaa. tomorrow marks three months without himym. haven’t missed it. JD doesn’t seem to, either :P

  208.  pizzaboySP | August 27, 2010 @ 10:21 pm

Hey guys I don’t know who still comes by here but I thought I would post this little link to pictures from the season 6 premiere. If you follow the himym twitter accounts you may have seen them already but here they are anyway.

    http://www.cbs.com/primetime/premieres_2010/photos/How_I_Met_Your_Mother/2/0/

Looking forward to the premiere and the return of Rachel Bilson!

  209.  NCUK | August 29, 2010 @ 12:09 pm

jd has not commented about: the photos from the premier episode or the spoilers.
will he be back before the restart?????

  210.  Matthew | August 29, 2010 @ 6:31 pm

I think its safe to say now that he will NOT be returning. You can notice as his posts go on for past episodes of that season, that he was getting more and more disillusioned. I guess he finally said ‘enough is enough’ and walked away. The internet being the internet, this page will stay up until the bills arnt paid or something else happens.

  211.  NCUK | August 29, 2010 @ 6:41 pm

can’t someone (maybe @high hoper as he seems to be in contact…or maybe actually is secretly him??) contact him and take over the site if he won’t continue?

  212.  High Hoper | August 30, 2010 @ 5:21 pm

    Just 2 things:

    1) I’m not JD (looool)
    2) This is what JD told me a few minutes ago about the website:
    “I’m not abandoning it
just waiting for the right moment to return”

Have a nice time! See you on Sept.20th

  213.  Gisella | August 31, 2010 @ 1:17 am

I miss JD, and I’m totally excited about the photos and the new season..

  214.  katie90 | August 31, 2010 @ 10:58 am

What’s actually bothering me the most about JD’s absence is the friggin’ comma that’s missing in “Season Finale people” on the main page. Damn, every time I go to this page, my eyes dart right to it :D
