Neil Patrick Harris on Conan O’Brien
He recently appeared on Sesame Street as “The Shoe Fairy”, he attended the Victoria Secret Fashion Show with Jeremy Piven, he loves puppets, and he does a mean Regis Philbin impression.
He seems like a really funny guy. I’d have a beer with him.

Neil Patrick Harris: “Animal Room” in HD
Do you know how you can tell it’s been a slow time for How I Met Your Mother news? Normally I wouldn’t post about the HD release of an early 90s cult indie film that happens to star Neil Patrick Harris.
The film, called “Animal Room“, stars Neil Patrick Harris and Matthew Lillard. It will be released by Vanguard Cinema on HD DVD this April 22. Some more info, via highdefdigest:
Starring Neil Patrick Harris and Matthew Lillard, the dark crime thriller ‘Animal Room’ saw only a limited theatrical release back in 1995 but has since amassed a small cult following on video. First released on standard-def DVD back in 2001, Vanguard has set an April 22 street date for the HD DVD.
I’ve never heard of this movie before today. It doesn’t sound very good to me though. Has anyone seen it? I found a montage of clips on youtube (see below) to job the memory.
Hopefully the strike will end so we can start talking about new episodes of the show again.

Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay Trailer
Warning: this trailer is restricted and has naughty language and some nudity. There’s another trailer thats a bit cleaner (and, to me, better) here.
What do we think? I’ve actually never seen the first one. It looks like Neil Patrick Harris is a riot in the movies though. I’m a big John Cho fan so I might have to check this out.
Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay comes out on April 25, 2008.

From the archives: The Confrontation
I posted this a long time ago but it’s been popping up on the Internet and other blogs lately for some reason. It’s awesome enough to warrant a re-post.
I know the readers here are classy so I’m sure we’re all sophisticated fans of Broadway productions. In case you aren’t familiar with Les Mis, I cover it in more detail in the original post.
Enjoy.

Neil Patrick Harris Donates His Winnings to Charity
I mentioned last week that Neil Patrick Harris was going on Wheel of Fortune and would be playing for charity. He did pretty well for himself and donated all his winnings to Children International.
Neil Patrick Harris, star of the U.S. sit-com “How I Met Your Mother,” donated the $60,452 he won on the game show “Wheel of Fortune” to a children’s charity.
Congratulations Neil and congratulations Children International.

How Will the Writer’s Strike Affect How I Met Your Mother?

It looks like HIMYM will not suffer as much or as immediately as some of the other shows on TV. Last week the cast finished filming all the written scripts before the strike started. This positions the show to continually serve up new episodes, possibly well into December. A potential blessing in disguise–if this is the only new show, maybe it will gain a lot of new viewers!
The cast has been positive. Alyson Hannigan and Cobie Smulders both showed up outside the picket lines this week to pass out food and keep people company.
In related news, Neil Patrick Harris will appear on The Price is Right Wheel of Fortune next week, playing for charity this time rather than discovering his father (who is definitely NOT Drew Carrey Pat Sajak). I’m not sure of the exact day but The episode will air Monday Nov 12 so keep your eyes peeled to see if Neil can clean house the same way Barney did last season.

UPDATE: Apparently I can’t read properly, which Voltaire was kind enough to point out. Good call.

What Would NPH Do?

There is a wonderful new poster for Harold & Kumar 2. It’s clear that our friend Neil Patrick Harris will be making another appearance. I love the bad-ass leather jacket. To quote Ted Mosby:
“There’s nothing gay about a horse. There’s nothing gay about a horn. But put them together, and you’ve got a unicorn.”

Happy Halloween
On this day I bring you a treat. Josh Radnor and Neil Patrick Harris in full costume. I have to say, Neil is looking damn creepy as that clown:

Consider the T-shirt
Over on ew.com they’ve got a photo essay chronically some popular film and TV stars decked out in their favorite t-shirts. Three HIMYM cast members popped up in the collection:

Alyson Hannigan
From ew.com: The late John Ritter gave this tee to Hannigan after his guest spot on Buffy in 1997. “He was such an incredible guy anyway, even if he didn’t give me a rubber ducky T-shirt,” she says. “Every time I see it I have such love in my heart for John. And I miss him.”
This isn’t nearly as cool as Hannigan’s shirt in World’s Greatest Couple, with the fairy tale cat illustration. She looks cute though and it’s a touching story.

Jason Segel
From ew.com: The How I Met Your Mother star is basically using us to plug his new favorite band, Instant Sorrow. “They’re a British band, a little bit like Oasis, or early U2,” says Segel, who says he rarely buys rock tees. “I want these guys to become a smash sensation.”
I haven’t heard Instant Sorrow’s music but if it’s good enough for Segel, it’s worth checking out. I find it amusing that Jason is such an indie music fan. Very similar to his character on Freaks and Geeks. Doesn’t it seem like the shirt says “Infant Sorrow” though? That’s both a William Blake poem and a way cooler name, maybe ew.com misquoted him?

Neil Patrick Harris
From ew.com: The How I Met Your Mother star stole this from a shoot years ago after noticing it said Clovis, New Mexico — the town where his mom was raised. He likes the ringer style, but “to be honest, my favorite is the cutoff, sleeveless tee. For breathing room.”
If Neil can’t breath in a t-shirt, he must be dying in those suits every week. I’m not usually a fan of a sleeveless look but I think NPH is dapper enough to pull it off.
Thanks to HIMYB for this story.

Neil Patrick Harris in Sweeney Todd
The 2006 revival of Sweeney Todd featured the Barnicle in the roll of Tobias, Mrs. Lovett’s developmentally challenged son. I’m not as familiar with this story as I am Les Mis but there is a great explanation of the entire opera over on this page (which is also where I found the video.)
What a great voice NPH has! It’s strange to see him in a serious roll, especially on the stage. This is much better than his performance in Stuff. Throughout the song I expected him to pull out a water gun or start saying “moist”.
