How I Met Your Mother News Roundup

Note: This might be my favorite HIMYM picture to use in posts. I don’t know why, but it might have something to do with that awesome bikini shirt.

With no new episode this week there doesn’t have to be silence on the HIMYM topic. Here’s a bunch of news items and thoughts about the show I’ve been ruminating but haven’t had the chance to post. Please do weigh in with your thoughts in the comments (like I even have to say that anymore!)

A LAME Baby?

It’s official, there’s a little one on the way. Not on the show, necessarily, but in the lives of Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof. People confirmed today that Alyson is expecting.

Congratulations to Alyson and Alexis!

This raises a lot of obvious questions in regards to the show. Will it be written into the plot? Will they film more now so they can avoid it? What do we think?

Robarn – What’s to Come

With the premiere just five days away, it’s no secret that the beginning of season 4 is going to deal with Barney’s new found interest in Robin (seriously, who hasn’t had a crush on her?) How do we think that’s going to play out? There are a few scenarios:

  • Barney goes all-in and Robin isn’t as excited about the idea
  • Barney tries to play it cool but can’t hide his desires.
  • Barney ignores his feelings and overcompensates by parading a cabal of hotties under Robin’s nose.

I’m sure there are other angles but I’m curious what you guys think. How’s it going to play out. Also, and more importantly, how is it going to end?

PS. How awesome are those pictures?

More Casting News: Stella has a Sister

TVGuide, in all their infinite wisdom, has released details concerning the appearance of Sara Paxton as a new character on How I Met Your Mother this season. Turns out Stella has a sister. A sister that’s about to be wed. From TV Guide:

Sources tell TVGuide.com exclusively that Sara Paxton (Summerland) has been cast on the CBS sitcom as Nora, Stella’s sister. Stella’s bride-to-be sister. Except that the wedding doesn’t seem to take. For Nora and her beau, at least.

Seeing as the big day is all paid for and whatnot… I’m hearing that Stella decides to seize the moment and elect to walk down the aisle herself, with Ted awaiting her at the other end of the runner.

Now that might suggest that Ted and Stella actually end up married. Asute fans of the show will note, however, that things (especially weddings) don’t always go as planned and pre-vow breakups are not uncommon.

What do you guys think? I’ve never heard of this girl before (she looks like Amy Poehler crossed with Alexis Bledel.) Any opinion on her as an actress? Any thoughts on what this plot development will mean for our hero Ted?

What to Expect from Season 4, Preview of Season 7, and the Bro Code

Some more information has surfaced concerning the beginning of season 4. Bays and Thomas have said that the season will open with an arc concerning Stella (played by Sarah Chalke) that they really think the fans will like. But don’t expect that to be the last we see of the good doctor—they also said that the arc would end with the definite possibility that we might see Stella again. Whether or not she is the mother, the creators said they “haven’t ruled it out”.

The first episode will also deal with Barney’s realization from the season 3 finale that he might have feelings for Robin. What that means, I can’t be sure. Will he act on them? Will he try to stifle his emotions? I’m really excited to see what they do with that situation as it has “legendary” written all over it.

With the wild success of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog we’ve been hearing a lot about Neil Patrick Harris lately. He’s currently shilling Old Spice and even showed up on Sesame Street as a shoe fairy:

I love this video. I’m not a huge fan of musicals but NPH really has a gift for them. Thanks to reader Chrissy who sent me that.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: YouTube clips are great but I want something from Neil Patrick Harris that I can spend money on this holiday season. Well look no further. Bays and Thomas announced that they’re turning “The Bro Code” into a real book that you can purchase later this year. It will be written by Bays and Thomas as well as the writer on the show who pen’s Barney’s blog each week for CBS.com.

Did you forget I promised a preview of Season 7? I didn’t. Bays and Thomas, in answer to a question about meeting the mother, reported the same info they revealed at the press screening—that footage has already been shot with the future Mosby kids—but also that they’d like to draw out meeting the mother until the series finale in 2012, which by my count would be season 7. I guess that solves any speculation we’d meet the mother before the series was done. Actually, it doesn’t. We could meet her (maybe we already have) and she might only be revealed as the mother in the finale. I can wait. Especially if it means three more seasons. Can you?
