The How I Met Your Mother Blog

The 2006 revival of Sweeney Todd featured the Barnicle in the roll of Tobias, Mrs. Lovett’s developmentally challenged son. I’m not as familiar with this story as I am Les Mis but there is a great explanation of the entire opera over on this page (which is also where I found the video.)

What a great voice NPH has! It’s strange to see him in a serious roll, especially on the stage. This is much better than his performance in Stuff. Throughout the song I expected him to pull out a water gun or start saying “moist”.

Over on CBS.com they have an extended hot tub scene from last week’s premiere. When the girls go get tequila, Barney and Ted discuss the subtleties of having sex in front of each other. We lean Barney’s safe word and his backup safe word. It’s awesome. Click on “How it Really Happened” on the CBS video page.

I’m a sucker for a good blooper reel. Who isn’t? There’s something riveting about seeing actors flub lines and ham it up for the camera. If it’s a montage? Sold. I still think of the season one DVD every time I hear “Hide Another Mistake” by HIMYM’s favorite band The 88 who were found guilty on three accounts…of rocking.

CBS posted a rather odd promo for How I Met Your Mother this week.

It’s kind of ingenious, and quite different then you’d expect for a sitcom promo. What do you think?

“It’s dark in there, here, take a lantern”

Neil Patrick Harris appears in an episode of the strange web show Powerloafing w/ Cubicle Carl at Super Deluxe.

This is a very odd. If it wasn’t for Harris, I’d write this off as yet another silly Internet show. I’d love to know how he got hooked up with this.

It’s funny to see Harris in a crappy, department store dress shirt after being so used to Barney Stinson’s tailored suits.

Also, is it just me or does it sound like he has a slight Canadian accent? Aboot?

This is a little old but that doesn’t make it any less awesome.

For those who aren’t familiar with the piece, this is a song from Les Miserables. The two intended performers of the song are the escaped prisoner Jean val Jean and his pursuing officer Javert. Val Jean has just admitted his guilt but is pleading to not be taken to jail as he has just promised a woman that he will watch after her child. Javert doesn’t trust him and a lyrical scuffle ensues.
